Cyril Bonhamy

Cyril Bonhamy and the Great Drain Robbery

Rate this book

Visiting France to view some famous medieval bibles (and confusing the natives with his 'fluent' French), Cyril Bonhamy mistakes the most dangerous criminal in France for the director of the Bibliothèque, and is plunged into one of the most terrifying adventures of his life.

Pursued by gendarmes through the sewers of Nice, speeding towards Belgium in a white Mercedes, and in mortal combat with the world's strongest man, Olaf Lockjaw, Cyril is all the while feverishly plotting his escape from the fiends he must bring to justice.

Hugh Laurie's film appearances include Peter's Friends, Stuart Little and Maybe Baby, while on TV he has been seen in Blackadder, Jeeves and Wooster, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), A Bit of Fry and Laurie and as Dr Greg House in House M.D.

Cyril is an Englishman who insists he knows how to speak French on vacation. His pretending to understand what people are saying to him end with him joining up a group of jewel thieves. Enjoyable silliness for fans of the Lavender Hill Gang or Arsenic & Old Lace. Audible edition is read by Hugh Laurie better known as Dr House on television.
