When Jimmy Scott returns to the comfort of his hometown, Hart's Crossing, after the death of his wife, he reconnects with his childhood sweetheart, Steph, also a widow, and begins to wonder what might have been, and what may still be. Original.

This is a very sweet tale of rekindled love in the fall of life. I really enjoyed this short tale, which tied in nicely with the first book of the series. My only quibble is some of the grammatical choices in several sentences, which had me reading them two or three times to be certain of the meaning. Looking forward to the third book...
This was a sweet little book to read while you are in pain with a broken toe. It required no thinking. It was just escape reading. It was a love story of two people who had been childhood sweethearts and after the deaths of their spouses they meet again and the romance is rekindled despite the anger of some of their adult children. It was a pleasant read.
Veterans Way by Robin Lee Hatcher is a delightful contemporary Christian tale with the dual themes of first love and second chances. It is the second book in the Harts Crossing series but can be read as a stand-alone. The leading characters are around seventy years old but young at heart. The reader sees that there are no retirement plans in God’s kingdom. “Even at the ripe old age of seventy… God still had a purpose for his life.” If you are still breathing, God has a plan for you. God speaks to our hearts if we would just be still and listen. “God spoke directly to her spirit.” We need to have lives in tune with His. Prayer is powerful. “They were women who believed in the power of prayer.” When we have decisions to make, we need to consult with God in prayer. Prayer chains are vital in supporting those in need. The tale explores the theme of love as laid out in 1 Corinthians 13. We need to live out lives of love. Veterans Way was a delightful read. You can find it in the collection entitled Here In Harts Crossing as well as a book in its own right.
When James Scott moves back to Hart's Crossing after his wife of 50 years passed away, he runs into his high school crush Stephanie Watson. Stephanie has lost her husband of 57 years. Can what was a high school romance become more than that in their laters years in life, and what will their children's response be?
Well written novella that shows there is a second chance at love between two older people. I very much enjoyed all of the Hart's Crossing small town novellas.
Another sweet novella in the Hart's Crossing series. This one is about a widow and widower finding love in their twilight years. As with Legacy Lane, this is an enjoyable read, but as a novella, it is too short to have much depth. Still, though, sweet, touching, and God-honoring.
Another nice story in the Harts Crossing series. A quick read, but sweet. Would be appropriate for even teens... 14+, I'd say. No foul language or anything racy. Just a nice Christian story.
Sometimes I really like throwing in one of these simple, easy reads. I found it delightful. The cover is beautiful and that is why I purchased the book when I saw it at a secondhand store.
much better book in this series of the Hart's Crossing. This book touches on the rekindling of love after first loved husbands and wifes have passed on and the acceptance of the children of the newness of love for their parents. Steph watson was destined to marry James scott or so they both thought when they were both in high school in hart's crossing Idaho, but the war took James away and brought Chuck watson came into town and after persistant asking stole steph's heart. James also found a love in rebecca. After Chuck's unexpected death a year ago, Steph thought she would be alone forever, but James moved back into town after retiring from Washington and after the death of this own wife of 50 years to cancer. All their kids but one are against the wedding union between their older parents, but will heart change?

This was a cute companion novella to Legacy Lane, I loved returning to Hart's Crossing and meeting a few more of the residents. I enjoyed the second chance at love story and how it explored some of the issues that an arise when two widowed people decide to get married. However, those issues are soon resolved. I'm really looking forward to my next journey to Hart's Crossing. Also, I want to give a shout out to my husband for getting the first three books in this series for me! 4/5 Stars.
Stephanie has lived in her home town her entire life. Her husband of 50 years passed away about a year ago and the last thing she ever expected was to be thinking about starting over again with someone else.
James just moved back into his childhood home. He is a widow now and when the people who were living in the house moved out, he felt that it was time to come home again.
I love the style of writing and the spiritual aspect of the characters. Nice read.
I enjoyed this book, which is the 2nd in the series. Robin Lee Hatcher is a very good writer. You feel you know the characters when you finish the book
