I had to take a day to figure out what I wanted to say about this book and decided what I have to say is applicable to most of her books. Obviously I didn't care for it very much but I am thinking that it is my fault since this is what I should expect from a Joyee Flynn book. Don't get me wrong, I have liked some of her books and a couple I liked quite a bit. I guess that I am tired of the trend that I see over and over in the m/m shifter/vamp genre and especially Flynn's books. There is always a mammoth, bad ass shifter/vamp who rescues his tiny little mate from some horrible life experience. Big Bad Ass is in touch with his feelings as he frequently cries over the thought of the possible loss of his little mate. The mate is generally a petite, teenage boy who is so beautiful that his looks border being feminine. There is always crying, there are multiple opportunities for Big Bad Ass to get jealous over someone finding their mate attractive and to be able to exclaim 'MINE'. For some reason when these little guys are mated they become incapable of walking on their own and are carried everywhere. They might not even be able to cut their own food anymore.
Damn, I don't have much that is positive to say and I think that I am just sick of these books in general. I believe it is time for me to take a huge break from Joyee Flynn and just get over it. I have to wonder what horrible things will now be said about me on the authors yahoo site since most people who don't rave about her books are targeted and the subject of some very nasty comments by the author and a couple of dedicated fans. I guess that I don't really care since I am just offering my opinion and not trying to slander the author.

I wanted to like this second book as much as the first, but there are more holes in this book than your average cheesegrater.
The characters are shallow, contradictory as is the story. It starts right in the middle of things and lacks the insight into characters.
There are a few things that bother me most. How could his new inner circle know about the abuse when supposedly none of the pack knew?
Carson states he was raped by seventeen men. While it doesn't state how large the pack is... how could there not be any rumors?
Ian, Declan and Taylor are supposed to be so overprotective, yet the let the old inner cirlce get in without a whim? In fact, after all they did...why are they still alive and only after the incident are sent on a prison transport? It was a set up to see Carson use his powers.
And speaking of those powers? If you were as badly abused as Carson you'd do anything to stop it yet, his powers come online only after he is "rescued"? Right. Probably because of the love an d care.
I could go on like this for a while. Needless to say I was disappointed in this book. I really hope the next one is better edited and thought through cause I like some of the other books by this author.

I feel like I should write a review because people are 'liking' my rating and I haven't written anything. So here goes.
First I should say that I usually rate these kind of books differently than those that are more serious. This is the type of read where I will maybe laugh at certain parts, skim through excessive sex scenes and maybe like the characters. But it is also something I will forget in a matter of days. Why do I read them? It's a nice change from serious books, that string me up emotionally or require a lot of concentration. This is great when I need to relax and I can easily read 5-6 of them in a day.
I read this sequel because I honestly liked the idea from the first book. It was interesting enough that I wanted to know more and get to know some new characters. Unfortunately this story doesn't have a beginning, the middle is just one big confusion and the ending was both rushed and didn't make a lot of sense. To top it all off, the book is like one big promotional tool. From mentioning authors in the middle of the story (something that just pulls me out completely) to pushing about piracy like all the warnings aren't enough.
The characters lacked personality and if you don't pay close attention to the names you probably won't have any idea who is doing what or even who is speaking. Overall it was a disappointment for me, because after the first book I really expected more from this series.
Hopefully the next installment will have more substance and will bring more to the overall series.

It looked really bland to me. I kinda skimmed the book, just to finish it. There might be action but it doesn't feel like action.
I like fantasy, but give at least a little realism to the characters. 3 guys just fell in love with another guy - how (it wasn't as if they were fated mates or anything)? And they all look so quick to love - kinda makes it feel insignificant.
The book deals more with recovering from abuse than romance. But even that recovery for me doesn't feel real. One minute he is afraid of everything and becomes confident way to fast. The characters just didn't feel real.
It kind of felt more like an epilogue than a book. Like all the actions was before and now just settling in.

A likable, severely abused little Omega twink burdened with three overly muscled and hung wolf-douchebags as his mates who demonstrate a potato’s worth of common sense in regards to their little mate’s needs when it matters most.
Or more to the point: a promising storyline, but mediocre execution; inconsistent behavior by all characters; things happened much too fast; choppy and repetitive writing; in parts uncomfortably similar to a TV series I love; and a sex scene at the end that had me tearing up I was laughing so hard – and not in a good way. Blech.

This book is less enjoyable than book one.I liked Carson but the relationship between Alphas & the Omega didn't make me swoon as the previous one.

I really liked this second volume. While the central theme of the series, the abuse of omegas, continues, the perspective for this story is slightly different. It's more focused on the aftermath of that abuse from an emotional point of view, and we closely follow the recovery/healing process. This added some depth which helped me understand and get close to Carson, the omega telling this story.
Carson is a very resilient guy. While he still flinches at the mere growling of his new inner circle and doesn't know how to trust them initially, he also has an inner strength which helps him to fight his depression. His reactions were very believable and I liked the fact that the focus was on him moving forward. Seeing him deal with his past and grow as he started trusting his mates was a very rewarding journey.
With the addition of a solution to help all omegas who might be abused, the overall story became more interesting as well. There are bound to be some very pissed-off alphas who will not like their "rights" to be taken away and their actions supervised like that... I definitely look forward to the next book!

That was....
most likely the worst piece of m/m romance that I`ve ever read.
Immature and unprofessional writing and a ridiculous non-story made Carson a total waste of time,money,breath...and my precious coffee...`nough said!

Come on...
Pretty disappointing, although I wouldn't say that the quality is TOO different from typical Joyee Flynn stories. Maybe it also seems worse because the one before this is one of the better Joyee Flynn books.

I call this and books like them, my little red books! Just like when I was younger and read my little white books... Harlequin Presents. Formula reading, sometimes good and sometimes NOT so good, but... addictive nonetheless! *grin*
I find these books give me a short break from the more serious reading that I do on a daily basis. So, even though these authors are not going to be the next Hemmingway (thank goodness for small favors... one was more than enough, IMHO), there is still a need for their style of writing. One can't live on heartwrenching angst alone... we need a bit of fluff thrown in now and then! *grin*

We're pull in the middle of the story and at first I was like 'um, where's the first chapter?'.
Than that's continue with the cliche description of the protagonists.
And next:
Carson said that they had sex 6 times the night before, when one of them declare the morning after 'it's why you didn't come last night?'
My reaction was....WTF? and you didn't do anything about that the night before, you just continue you used him as a hot hole???????
And now, that morning, you continue to have sex witn him even knowing that the reason you're here it's because of the already mentioned abuse......Wow, talk about someone who give a shit about others.
Ok, It's a flamme, in the form that I want to burn the book. I tend to try to find something positive to say about a book when I don't like it because I know that the writer work on it. In this case I fell no pity.
This is not the work of a writer, of someone who have a passion for telling a story, for her personages. That's the work of someone that write to sell.
Well, it's seems to work since I buy (yeah, I didn't stole, I paid for that thing, see, I'm a good girl) her books. That was the last time. I'm not even sure I want to read the other that wait on my KINDLE (I hope she received something for that one)

Refer back to my review for "Tristan" as almost all of Joyee's books fit the comments. They are great for first-time readers who are dipping their toes in the M/M genre. I remember that I enjoyed her very much and her works sent me on a search for more. As I munch through this series you will find similar postings.

Omega manipulated by Alpha and Betas into being a used and abused sex toy - will the new Inner Circle be any different?
The second entry in one of my "guilty pleasure" cheesey, simple, and heated series of escapist and comfort reads, I have more "aww, isn't that sweet/heart-warming/wonderful surges warming the cockles of my heart than eye-rolling/"oh my god that's cheesey"/"why am I reading this" moments.
The sometimes way-too-simplistic description of characters, setting and (especially) plot developments are there to frame the heated menage scenes, and many readers find the cheese to be too unconvincing and silly to make the sizzle worthwhile. I feel that way about some other Siren romances, but for some reason the first few books of this series simply work for me. The simplistic schmalz works for me - I'm a sucker for "rescue the Omega" stories - and I return to these books when I'm looking for silly but sizzling and comforting escapes.

For those looking for a surface read dealing with a tough subject but keeping the overall feel of the story light, this is a pretty good one. Unfortunately, I am a more cynical reader, as my rating reflects.
This series just doesn't work for me because so much of the story happens off-page. Of course, I wouldn't have wanted to read the horrid details of the abuse, but there was a lot of story left to be told. Maybe it was the fact that there were 3 men Carson had to bond with instead of just one. There just didn't seem to be enough time.
I did like the idea of the Omega Network and how Tristan and his group made a cameo appearance. I will probably try the 3rd book when it becomes available to see if the Network gives the story more weight.

Generally the book is more or less ok.

While I like the new series and the whole idea of "not your typical Omegas" there are things that suprised me in this particular book and not in a good way.

typical joyee flynn serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical joyee flynn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

I have to say this book was too much like the first one, at least in the m/m action. There didn't seem to be any difference in the telling of it - the same words were used for the same acts. I realize there are only so many ways to describe m/m sex, but I think the editor(s) should have at least suggested some alternative ways to go about writing the scenes. It's not always an author's fault if books seem repetitous. How do I know? I'm an editor, and if you're editing the same author, notes should be taken while editing each book in order to avoid too much descriptive repetition, especially in a series.

I love this series. There are 11 books available right now and I have them all and there is definitely enough characters and story for more! The author takes full advantage of the fiction genre and comes up with some fanciful stories and relationships, plus there is enough angst with the Omega they each should have their own full-time psychologist, instead they have 3 hot, sexy men to help heal them.
Hot - all the stories are m/m/m/m and full of angst, sex and love. The overall story line takes a big twist in #9.
A fun, entertaining and sexy read.

I really wish that Goodreads had halves on the rating system. I want to give this a 3.5 I liked Carson very much but somehow could not connect to the other three which is why I am going to give this a 3.5
I loved the central story of how Carson dealt with the abuse and the support system needed for this to happen. Looking forward to more from this series.

A sweet read. Carson has to overcome a lot of abuse. I do know that that kind of abuse along with having childhood abuse would take much longer to heal if it ever does. I still enjoyed a happy read that ends so well.

I did not care for this book as much as I did the first one. It still broke my heart though to see all the abuse that poor Carson had to deal with before he got his mates.

read it a again few years later. Its about an abused twink (this one is not only whiney like Tristan) who needs a lot of good sex. The idea was good, but needed more. Some scenes felt too fast, others were too over-dramatic. nearly a PWP, but more story than in part 1.

This is an OK read. I was looking for something light and stress free and it certainly ticked those boxes. I like the underlying story in these books and the immediate love the inner circle have for their Omega and if you ignore the slight preposterousness of it all, it does the trick.

This is my favorite series by JF. I like the characters and the storylines. Carson is such a doll, I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket and take care of him.
