Jewish-American actor, film director, poet, musician and photographer.
He was best known for playing the character of Spock on Star Trek, an American television series that ran for three seasons from 1966 to 1969, in addition to several movie sequels.
A bit dated - actually, really dated - in its narrative structure and not particularly exciting to read without the slides of Van Gogh's artwork. I imagine experiencing it on stage would be interesting if the projections were well done. But even still, I was hoping for something with a little more heart and soul to it. Even with Vincent's letters being read on stage I didn't feel like his voice was present.
In discussing this with an old friend he reminded me that I actually DID see a production of this some 25 years ago. I had completely forgotten it. That production 'cheated' a bit and added some music throughout - including a woman who did a very lovely cover of the song "Vincent" by Don McLean at the conclusion of the play. Now THAT I remembered when he mentioned it to me.
