Fourteen-year-old Trixie Jackson hoped she had a future to look forward to. But when she is sacked from the local factory she is forced to work as a housekeeper for one of her father's friends - a man she instinctively dislikes. Rosie Harris was born in Cardiff and grew up there and in the West Country. After her marriage she lived for some years on Merseyside before moving to Buckinghamshire where she still lives. She has three grown-up children and six grandchildren and writes full-time.
Nerys Hughes is one of Britain's most popular actresses. She is best known for the role of Sandra in The Liver Birds, and the title role in The District Nurse, which won her the Variety Club Television Actress of the Year Award. She has appeared in Under Milk Wood at the Royal National Theatre and in the BBC TV play Gallowglass.
