Amanda Barker had to have firefighter Josh Marshall. With his sexy body, killer smile and incredible reputation as a lady's man, he'd sell a million of her fund-raising calendars. But Josh wasn't cooperating, and he wasn't playing fair....
If there was one thing Josh knew, it was that where there's smoke there's fire. And Ms. Amanda Barker was smokin'. Over and over, he'd refused her requests to pose for a calendar, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. And neither would he when he laid out the he'd agree to meet her needs, if she agreed to meet his....

Very good book. He is one of Zack's friends in Treat Her Right, and well known as a ladies man. In that book he complained about a woman who is relentlessly pursuing him to get him to pose for her charity calendar. That pursuit continues in this book, as Josh does his best to dodge her request. But when she tracks him down and follows him into the fire station locker room, he has something other than the calendar on his mind. So he makes a bargain with her - he'll pose for her calendar if she'll go out with him.
I liked Josh. It was pretty funny to see a guy who is so into his playboy lifestyle be so reluctant to flaunt his attributes. But it turns out that there's more to Josh than we've seen before. He's not real happy to be looked at as a sex object rather than be appreciated for the job he does. But it's a good cause, and if he can use it to get closer to Amanda, that's what he'll do. It's not going to be as easy as he thought, because under her prissy exterior is a woman who is determined to deny herself what he is offering.
Amanda has issues from her past that have her spending her free time paying for what she sees as an unforgivable mistake. She sees herself as unable and undeserving of what Josh is looking for. Her earlier experiences with men have only served to strengthen those feelings.
I loved the development of their relationship. Josh quickly catches on that there is more to Amanda's resistance than he had thought. It was sweet to see the way that he backed off and tried to get her to tell him what was wrong. Amanda was convinced that when he knew her secret he would be gone, and was stunned when she was wrong. His reaction to what she had gone through was a huge burst of protectiveness. I loved his plan on how to solve her problem, and his patience as they worked through it. Amanda was surprised at what a difference it made once the pressure was off, and they had a chance to get to know each other. It was fun to see her reactions at the calendar launch and she had to witness the women's reactions to Josh. There's a small bump in the road of their relationship when Josh appears to be distracted at work because of her, and a fire call feeds some of Amanda's fears. The ending was hot and romantic as Amanda breaks free of her past and Josh finally finds what he's been searching for.
I loved having Mick and Del, and Zack and Wynn have appearances in this book. After all the teasing that Josh laid on them, it was really fun to see him on the receiving end. It was also wonderful to see their concern for him. Seeing all three couples happy together in the epilogue was a great wrap up.
I don't know, I liked aspects of it, and then disliked other aspects of it, so it turned out to be a book of highs and lows.
Overall I liked both Josh and Amanda, but the story (mostly focused on Amanda's trauma's) didn't progress as I suspected, and when I first realized that I was disappointed, because what I thought that had happened to her would have been really interesting. The alternative was the lamest of lamest overused tropes , and while I was quite pleasantly surpised with the whys and background of that overused trope, it still remains something that annoys the heck out of me.
Still, Josh, even with his faults (way too pushy for someone with trauma's like Amanda) and too quick conclusions was very likeable and sexy, so I ended up feeling good about this book.
Unfortunately I'm still so pissy about Treat Her Right (Men To The Rescue #4) (Oh the sarcasm in that title, it boggles me), that I couldn't really enjoy this.
Amanda has been pestering Josh to pose for her firefighter’s calendar which donates money to burn victims, but Josh isn’t having it. He’s after a REAL woman, which Josh gets the sense Amanda is not - she’s rich and pampered and too concerned about her appearance. But finally Josh has enough and decides he’ll turn the tables and he’ll pester her...by seducing her. He’s surprised to find that Amanda isn’t receptive and is actually afraid of the idea. This intrigues Josh even further and he becomes determined to learn Amanda’s secrets, but the more he learns of her, the more he realizes she’s special and he’ll do anything to earn her love.
This started out as a struggle, mostly because Josh was overly pushy and I wasn’t liking it. I’m a firm believer of the rule that when a woman says she’s not interested, she means it. Josh realizes he can’t be too pushy, but he continues to touch her in seductive ways even when he agrees that he’ll tone it down. Once Josh realizes that Amanda actually means something to him, she starts to respect her wishes, which lucky for him, become less restrictive to him. It shouldn’t have taken him that long to lay off though. I feel like there was a way he could have approached her and expressed his interest, without pushing past her boundaries.
Surprisingly, I ended up liking this story. Josh gets far less pushy the more he learns about Amanda and he actually gets hella protective and considerate for her. Her situation was a bit tropey, but it still worked for me. The angst and the UST kept me engaged and reading and intrigued me, so this was my favorite of the series.

I loved how playboy Josh finally fell in love! Then, to top it off, he fell in love with someone who was nothing like the women he'd been interested in before. Great story line!
At first I thought he was only interested in Amanda as a sort of "challenge" since having a woman who was not interested in him sexually was not normal for him. However, it was nice to see that he really was in love with her, was willing to admit it and was willing to wait and help her through her fears and issues.
Setting: Fire station; park for photographs; Amanda’s secluded, converted schoolhouse
Theme: Love
Characters: Amanda Barker – at 17 she snuck out of the house to meet up with a boyfriend at the back of her property to have sex for the first time… but there was a fire at her house (electrical start), and her parents thought she was still in the house, so 3 firemen went in to find her, the 2nd floor collapsed, one died, the other two burned badly and left the force. 7 years later, she is still struggling with the guilt… she only lives on what she can afford (as a store buyer), her relationship with her parents is cold, she has tried to have sex with a few men over the years, but she freezes up and can’t, she dresses prissily… and she volunteers and raises money for the burn center… her latest idea is for a fireman calendar, she has 11 months photographed, and she really wants Josh for November & cover. Josh Marshall – fire lieutenant, free and easy with the ladies – he loves them, they love him; he does not want any part of the calendar and has decided the way to deal with her is to come on to her, make love to her, scare or distract her away…
Summary: Amanda decides to ‘grab the bull by the horns’ since Josh ducks out when she is near, and won’t take her calls… so she goes to the station after a fire, and waits for him in the locker room – the rest of the guys are done, and he’s still in the shower… he comes out with only a towel… a small towel… they talk, he says no again, he decides to put his make out game with her, she seems interested… he approaches and starts a kiss, and sees fear in her eyes – and backs off… he talks her into going to dinner – to talk about the book – and then to keep seeing her, he agrees to be her Mr. November…
He spends as much time with her as he can… he is intrigued by her – when she lets loose, when she gets uptight… and slowly uncovers her truths… and gets her used to his touches, then his kisses… and on their second ‘date’, when one he slept with semi regularly comes up behind him and hugs him, he tells her he is no longer available – he is a one woman man now.

Homens do Resgate 05. Sr. Novembro. Lora Foster. 2004.
The third in the Men to the Rescue trilogy, and well worth waiting for. A strong yet understanding fella helps a woman recover from her emotional scars.
I am a majorly big fan of Lori Foster's books. This is a re release of a book of her's I had not read..I of course couldn't put it down long when I started reading it. Amanda is a very repressed person. She holds everything in and people think she is snotty. She is after the Lt of the fire house, Josh to do her calendar to make money for the burn unit. She keeps hounding him til he finally agrees but he has conditions. Will Amanda go through with those conditions? This is a wonderful story of letting go of pasts hurts when you are with the right person. You will not be disappointed at all when you read the story! Another must read by the great Lori Foster.
What a wonderful story. Josh really deserved to get his happy ending but he also deserved to suffer a little first. Amanda did the job admirably and they both got their happy ending. It was nice to catch up with Mick and Del and Zach and Wynn as well. I would recommend this story to any adult reader who enjoys sexy alpha males and the women who settle them down.
This was a good story about Amanda who had a bad experience with a fire and had to deal with the emotional turmoil from that. She fall in love with the fireman that she wants to pose as Mr. November for her charity event. Of course there are issues along the way that have to be resolved.
Took me a while to get into this book, absolutely loved Josh from the start but Amanda got on my nerves a bit, but the last few chapters were great and kept me hooked until the last page
The Mirth, The Caring, and The Hotness - Who Would Want Anything More?
In my mind, there are only a few times that I have been disappointed in Lori Foster. And this book was not one of those times. From book 4 Treat Her Right, in the PI & Men To The Rescue Series, I loved Josh from the very beginning. And now a book 5 in the Series, dedicated to him, so glad it was fun!
Departmental Store Buyer and Charity Organizer, Amanda Barker, is all business. She is driven to get her charity calendar, that helps the burn unit patients, finished, sold, and an ultimate success. However, one stubborn and cocky firefighter stands in her way to achievement. His outrageous antiques and brash talk, has her on edge. And ever since he has set his eyes on her, oh boy, look out! Amanda is happy in her sedate and somewhat boring life. Will she let this determined man cause upheaval to experience something exciting and rewarding?
Firefighter and Lieutenant, Josh Marshall, is the consummate gentleman and roguish ladies man. He has always enjoyed the company of woman and has the notion that he understands them. However, a particular pest has been hounding him about his participation in a firefighter calendar and that is not his thing. Lately though, he has drummed up interest towards the pretty brown eyed brunette, who is not his usual type. Maybe he will go along with her plan, just so that he can get closer to her. Regardless, in Josh's pursuit, he might discover the depth of something complex, alluring and worthwhile in this woman and about himselft...
What a treat! It was great to meet up with Mick and Del, along with Zack and Wynn again. They added to the story, even though I missed Dani and her precocious ways. The banter between the protagonists was wonderful and it was great to see the give and take. The emotional level of this book was set at a very high bar, and the research that Lori Foster conducted shows. I am not a fan of unprotected sex, but Josh and Amanda address the issue, so it made it acceptable.
If you are looking for a story that is full of hilarity, concern, sweetness, and sexiness, you have come across the right one! You will be bowled over.
I was floored at first by how much sex talk there was in this because based on the cover, the hero looks like a doofus. Then I looked again and said, "Ah! Temptation series. No wonder."
This is pretty good. Amanda considers herself frigid and beyond help in ever having sex or a meaningful relationship with a man due to a traumatic past event. Josh is something of a horndog (if that's even a word) who has played a considerable field in his 27 years and pretty much succumbs to insta-lust. Eventually he wears her down. She's happy to be worn down. HEAs all round.
I was not keen on the secondary characters who obviously had their own books (I haven't read them). They kept popping up and really weren't necessary.
I loved this book! I adored Amanda and felt sad for her story. And Josh was hot. He knew he was good looking and wasn't afraid to admit it; but he wasn't over conceited.
I actually wish the book was a little longer so that it was more drawn out to make it more believable. But, such as it is, its still a wonderful book. Great, quick read.
Very much a romance novel-all romance. No action, no comedy. If that's what you're looking for jump right in. I liked it I didn't love it. Probably didn't love it because it was just Josh and Amanda pretty much the entire time. Most days even just being a romance this wouldn't be "good enough" for me. So, save it for a slow day. :)
Fun story where romantically the male pursues the female but I didn't like that the plot centered around hiding a secret and after it was revealed I never really bought into emotional adjustment. Amanda wants Josh to be in her firefighters calendar and he'll only do it if she goes out with him.
2.5 Stars - It was an okay book. Josh was definitely playing the field but and slightly smug but not overbearing. Well except when he held her down during the photograph session, that seemed that he was using force.
Super fun read, especially after having read the other two books first. Love slaps Josh upside the head and we get to laugh right along with his friends.
Sex scene was unique. I wish her secret was worth all her angst. I was like that's it that's what has caused all your trama, really? I really liked Josh he was so sweet.
