Generation Golf was a dreadful genre of german books in which lots of young german people thought their personal life from childhood would be funny and interesting for others. More than most this book highlights the issues with it. Over a series of 26 mercifully short chapters Jakob Hein describes growing up in the DDR by 26 anectdotes. Not a single one of his experiences is interesting or out of the ordinary for every single child in europe (even allowing for the fact of it being set in East Germany). Crucially not a single one of them is remotely as funny as he presumably thinks they are and some are completely inexplicable and poorly described

Leider fand ich dieses Buch überhaupt nicht lustig - vielleicht liegt es daran, dass Deutsch nicht meine Muttersprache ist oder ich einfach keinen Humor habe. Es war keine schlechte Lektüre, aber ich habe den Sinn des Buches einfach nicht verstanden.

Herrlich! Ich habe mich bestens amüsiert bei den Anekdoten eines pubertierenden Jakob Heins in der DDR. Von Schmunzeln bis laut Loslachen war alles dabei. Liest sich schnell weg - viel zu schnell.
