This is a cute story about a turtle named Franklin and all of his friends. Franklin leads children on an adventure to solve the mystery of what happened to his friend's baseball. This would be a great book to have children begin inferring and making guesses as to what might happen next. The pictures are just like the original Franklin series yet the words are made so that a beginning reader might have an easier time reading them. One of the perks to this book is that it might be familiar to many children due to the television series of Franklin based off the original series of books. Being familiar would lend itself as an added appeal to reluctant readers.

My 2 year old granddaughter and I enjoyed this Franklin book. It's a perfect one for 'young merging into mysteries' readers. Franklin has decided to become a detective and so he goes in search of the missing baseball from his friends. They lost it but can't find it and have to go find something else to do. But Franklin follows all the clues and figures out the mystery!

This book would also be a great one for a child who's parent is a police officer, a detective, or anything in the work force where sometimes things aren't 'as they seem' to help a child understand what their Daddy or Momma does.

This book is based on the characters in the Franklin TV series. This particular story is how Franklin helps his friends find their baseball. Franklin meets up with his friends and finds them sad they can not find where they hit the ball. He listens to what they do know and then sets out to find where the ball might have gone. In the end he finds the ball all by himself using the sound clues his friends told him.

This story was easy to follow and had a good message about persistence.
