Much better than The Resurrection, but still not as good as Youth Gone Wild.
Revenge! keeps massive death and destruction interesting by giving us other things to think about. One is Ernie's friend Smiley, pictured above, and how he relates to what is going on. The other is about Lady Death and an attack on her domain by an unknown antagonist. It's still not great, but it's ok.
Ernie continues his lifestyle of being dead and loving it. Some sci fi genre elements that began to be planted in the previous volume continue here, but without significant influence on the storytelling aspects. This feels like the end of Evil Ernie as an individual story and the beginning of Evil Ernie as a cog in the broader Chaos Comics machine with references to the spin off Lady Death comic and an appearance from Purgatori.
There remains a cute and quaint energy to these books, especially if you read the original floppies with the letters to the editor in the back: lots of angsty teens expressing themselves and sharing fanart, fan theories, and their favorite metal music to read comics to. A fun time capsule.
