Orlena Sol is not meant to be in her room, naked . . . with her superior officer.
The crew of the CMC Theseus doesn't have sex. At least not with each other. But there's a new hunger in Dareh Andersen and he's looking at Orlena as if she's all too edible. He's ready to fulfill her fantasies, which makes no sense. He's always wanted anyone but her.
Orlena is convinced there's more to his sudden interest. She fears his desire is simply a dream, a lie. Something other, something outside and beyond them is at work . . . but it's a force she doesn't want to fight.
No recuerda qué pasó.
Honestly, this is befuddling to me. Okay the reason they were locked up together in the first place and Dareh strutting to Orlena completely and totally naked was 'quite' explained on the last part. It literally lived up to its 'genre', a quickie. Real fast and quick that there's no substantial character development, not so much depth in the story, I WAS ALWAYS WONDERING who? what!? how?? huh?...I had a teeny bit 'grasp' in the story and only pushed myself to finish it because it's short and a really quick read like it only took me 30 minutes lol(just estimation :D) and I'm always wondering how Orlena looks like, maybe she's gorgeous or pretty and hot also, I dunno because why would Dareh be 'secretly' wanting/admiring/longing for her for the longest time?? *sigh I just kept 'imagining' and picturing Orlena with long blonde hair and has blue or green eyes, porcelain skin(because they're working and always in a 'spaceship', how could she get tanned with the natural sunlight :p) perhaps average in height but with a body to die for. It was only Dareh who was physically described(but not quite graphically). And the Captain Jannes(?) I don't know if there's a gay thing about him or there was a gay relationship thingy about him and Dareh...it's just complicated...O.o the sex scenes were moderately hot and okay..I just got perplexed with the whole 'set-up'.
My love for sexy sci-fi had me enjoying this strictly due to the idea of two people trapped in a room on a space station-type place after a year of sexual frustration with one another. I wasn't quite sure what was real (if anything) until the end, which took some of the fun out of it. Still, the sweaty, borderline angry sex against the wall was hot.
To preface my specific commments about this book. I freely accept that this is what it is...a Quickie. And being such it is short and there's not enough words for character development.
Even so, this felt too short for me. I enjoyed it (hence the star rating) but I just felt that this was a particular interlude that could have been great if it had had the chance to expand into something longer.
I liked the atmosphere of this one, an interesting scifi world w/hot sex. There was either too much mysticism or not enough explaining of what the characters do and what brought about their connection. So balanced out, I'd say it's a 2.5 stars. I will check out others by this author. I like her voice.
Hot SF romance with two crewmates locked in together and finally acting on their long-term attraction. Novella. Quibble: the explanation for why they were locked in her quarters made me roll my eyes. Seriously?
Not a bad little bit of smut. Interesting world building, sexy smart characters and well written. I got enough out of it to understand the heroine's job, her hard-knock past and her current alienation.
Good for a quick spicy read. I like that it focused on just the H & H since it was a short read. I'm would be interested in reading more by this author.
