After passing from a long life of pessimism with a constant cynical outlook, George Campton rudely awakens to the afterlife and finds himself designated as a slip-in - an angel in the rough. Paul Clark, his mentor and a former slip-in, is leaving his charges with George and is now on his rise to the desired position of full angel. Paul leaves George with this thought - He must learn patience.

Though George is only to observe his charges, he finds himself crossing the line, slipping out of the in-between and into the physical world and murdering Alex Jones, a brown-nosing insurance salesman who has used and abused Kathryn, the young woman he is attracted to. Realizing what he has done, he promises himself he will be a good boy from now on.

Elaine Waldron is the author of "Powers" her first vampire series, along with other vampire, paranormal and murder-mystery thrillers. She began her career as a novelist with Publish America. Aside from her novels, she has had numerous short stories published in various magazines and anthologies, such as Amazing Journeys and Trail of Indiscretion, winning best story based on cover art for issue #4. She was a newspaper journalist earlier on in her career, but shortly after leaving the newspaper, she began selling her short stories.

An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys the woods, nature in general, and loves to hear birds sing. She works with a cup of coffee or a cold Coke at her side; delights in children, and has four of her own.
