As this memoir opens, the author tells us it’s a book for people who like birds and that is true. Florence Jaques was the wife of “bird artist” Francis Lee Jaques and this memoir recounts their travels and birding adventures while he was employed by the American Museum of Natural History in the construction of dioramas showing birds and other wildlife in their natural habitats. The author’s humor and eye for detail make for a great read.
