From #1 New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag comes a special edition featuring two of her romantic classics in one irresistible volume. This unforgettable pair of novels is sure to excite the lover and thrill the romantic in every reader.
Tempestuous
Alexandra Gianni had come to Briarwood with her infant daughter, Isabella, to start over. Determined to rebuild her life and the ramshackle farm she’d purchased with the last of her money, Alex had one independence. She wasn’t looking for another relationship or the painful revelations she’d have to share about her past. Most of all, she wasn’t looking for a man like Christian Atherton, who could lead her dangerously astray. But the handsome, aristocratic English rider won’t accept that it’s too late for Alex or that she has to keep running…from her past and him.
Restless Heart
As a world-renowned globe-trotting photographer, Danielle Hamilton was at home with Tibetan nomads and Kenyan bushmen. But she didn’t think she’d survive six weeks in the “wilds” of New Orleans babysitting her sister’s five children. Then help arrives in the form of the most unlikely nanny Danielle could imagine. Tall, dark, and Cajun, Remy Doucet isn’t really a nanny and he isn’t accepting Danielle’s certainty that true love isn’t in the cards for her. He’s convinced that her self-control masks a deeper need to let go, and he’s determined to prove she could trust him with the memory of a tragedy that still haunts her dreams.

This was my first venture into the Tami Hoag world, and I'm pretty satisfied with the experience.
Nothing extraordinary, mind you, but not half bad, with two stories about two women with loads and loads of emotional baggage and two men (one of them younger than his heroine) intent on helping them to finally move on.
The second one was a bit more humorous than the first one, but they both had one common denominator—an annoying heroine. Someone should've slapped the two chicks silly to make them see reason, because talking to them obviously didn't work.
Anyway, two good little stories. I'll probably venture into the Hoagworld again in the future.
This book holds 2 books as part of 2 different series. 3 stars overall for the 2 volume book. Tempestuous- book #3 in the Quaid Horses series Ok. It was a sweet romance of Christian slowly wooing Alexandra. A little dated but an easy read.
The Restless Heart-
book #1 in Doucet series Great start to a trilogy series. Because one of my sisters favorite movies is "The Big Easy" w/Dennis Quaid & Ellen Barkin, we were forced to watch it repeatedly..I am now a sucker for a sexy Cajun. Seriously, every time Remy uses French, I get a little melty as I imagine Quaid saying it w/that sexy smile. Plus there were a bunch of cute kids and a butler named Butler. Some humor, slightly dated & lots of sexual tension/chemistry.
My only negative is that in both books, the characters do wallow in self-pity too much.
Tempestuous - A perfectly cheesy eighties style romance. The story and romance weren't too bad, but I was sidetracked by the cliche and annoying Britishisms of the main character, Christian - "I say!" "I dare not!" These are really out of place in modern day novels. I expected our Hero to whip out his quizzing glass at any given moment. And his cockney assistant was a bit much too.
I also couldn't quite decide if the author meant to make a commentary on how men objectify women or not, but that's what was done. The heroine in this book has been controlled and played with by men far too much and the attitude of many of the men in this book is revolting. They (including the hero for a time) treat the heroine as if she's there for their amusement, giving little thought to whether or not she wants their attention. It even irritates me for a time that the hero won't take no for an answer (kissing her without her permission - he deserved a lot more than the smack she gave him) and pushing her for a date all because she's attracted to him.
Restless Heart - A good, light romancy read. It's also a decent start to the Bayou stories... They get quite a bit more suspense like and less romance focused in the last two books. In this case, I liked Remy Doucet. He wasn't forceful or arrogant - simply charming and persuasive. Danielle was the tortured heroine and their story was pretty enjoyable. Basically, he hires on as a nanny while she's watching her sister-in-laws kids (this is where her tortured past comes in) and he helps her get over her troubles while romancing her.
The stars on this might have been higher if not for the ending.

This is a little hard to rate & review as it is a 2/1 book. I'll just give a little of each. Tempestuous: I really only rate this book about 3 stars. It was definitely better than it's sister book! The characters were more interesting w/a little more meat to them. However, the story was just same old, same old. The Restless Heart: This one I rate 5 stars. I liked it much better! I've read some of the other Doucet novels (can't remember how many as I've read out of order) and I like them. I think one reason is I love stories from Louisiana. They immediately grab me. I loved the kids in this one. I liked the interaction between Danielle & the kids, Remy & Butler, & then all of them together. I liked the story & thought the book was quite humorous, which is always a big plus w/me.
These books were okay. I got them since I didn't realize the "Doucet" books were a series and had read the other three. Restless Heart was interesting in that the guy was Lucky's big brother from Lucky's Lady...Lucky's Lady but that probably would have mattered more if I had read that book less then ten years ago. Tempestuous was good in that it had more of a plot then the second one, but I doubt I'll be re-reading either of them.
I read only part of this ebook, "Restlest Heart", the first of what would later become Tami Hoag's Doucet series. I am into Hoag's mysteries and wanted to read the Doucet series, which starts with this light-hearted romance. It was a cute story about a globe-trotting woman who is running away from marriage and commitment because of a tragic accident that she blames on herself. She has been asked to care for her half-sisters children, feels unable to do so while she is working on her photography, so hires a nanny. The nanny turns out to be a hunk and a half, and romantic sparks fly.
