I'm a Christian author, husband and father of two, married to my lovely wife Renee since 1987. We fellowship at Newport Mesa Church in Orange County, CA, and I run a ministry in Tustin, CA, called Genesis Counseling. Most of my writing has focused on sexual issues from a conservative Christian perspective, and since 1987, I've been honored to work with men who want to resolve conflicts between their sexual behavior and their relationship with Christ.

Written by a formerly gay pastor--extremely helpful and candid discussion about the relationship between homosexuality and Christianity. He writes with respect and understanding, while dealing fearlessly with Scripture. Really useful and important for anyone in church work.

Stop and read!

Excellent, balanced, well informed, personal. Joe Dallas speaks with authority from personal experience. This book is a challenge to unsympathetic, holier-than-thou thinking about sexual temptation. Anyone who wants to grow in compassion and commitment to the biblical gospel should read and consider. As this issue becomes increasingly prominent, disciples of Jesus must equip themselves. Joe Dallas’s writing will equip you to be a gracious, compassionate, and uncompromising disciple.

I think I'll have to read it again but it wasn't as hardcore "anti-gay" "gays going to hell" as I believed it would.

I was repeatedly amazed at Dallas's ability to remain uncompromising in his stance while simultaneously communicating such love, understanding, and compassion. This is a great book.

A dense read, but a good, and important one. A topic that is uncomfortable for and poorly handled by so many in the church today, Dallas delves into every corner.
“To be relevant is to be equipped to address the issues of the time, and like it or not, this issue it to relentless to die a quiet death, either now, or anytime soon.”
“And perhaps, with an awakening among Christians to our need for each other no matter what our background or former sins, more prodigals will find a celebration waiting for them when they too return to their Father’s house.”

This was a really well though out and helpful book on confronting pro-gay theology. The only reason it got four stars and not five is because the dialogues at the end of each chapter seemed contrived and unnecessary.

OUTSTANDING!!

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE READ ON THE SUBJECT OF HOMOSEXUALITY. JOE DOES A GREAT JOB OF GIVING EXAMPLES OF GRACE WITHOUT COMPROMISING TRUTH! THIS IS THE KIND OF BOOK THAT SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN!

This book is an essential read for the church today. The gay Christian movement is gaining ground in the church and, as Christians, I believe we need to know how to respond in truth and in love. Pat answers like "the Bible says it's wrong" and "people aren't born gay" without having knowledge or Scripture to back up such claims just won't cut it.
Joe Dallas does an excellent job giving history and context to the gay Christian movement, as well as clear responses to the arguments presented by those in the movement.
I cannot recommend this book enough. Thank you, Joe Dallas, for your courage and care in presenting truth to a floundering church culture.

Hmmm...To be honest, I read this for more understanding of a friend, to get some perspective on the issue, and probably to mostly feel like I could defend my own point of view. I'm not sure that I ever want to get into this type of biblical discussion with anyone unless I know them and they know me and my heart pretty well since there is so much emotion/anger/hurt/misunderstanding surrounding this issue. Overall, I thought this was a good book with good perspective.

Very informative, and easy to read. This guy knows what he is talking about, he lived that lifestyle for a time. Very good book, and it presented the facts in a way that did not demean the gay Person. Mr. Dallas did a good job of presenting the truth, and giving the reader the information we need to understand how the "Gay Gospel" came about, and what Scripture says.

This book is among the most in-depth, well-researched book on the subject that I have read (along with Joe Dallas's other book "Speaking Of Homosexuality"). It is as compelling to read as it is convincing, without being confusing or too complex in the writing style. This is the kind of book I was looking for, and I thought the way it was worded was very organized and easy enough to read without being overwhelming with the amount of information it presents. The tone is also less harsh than other Christian books explaining what the Bible says about homosexuality, instead remaining convicting and honest as it explains the history behind many common arguments and myths surrounding homosexuality that are perceived as truth by much of society. It answered many of my questions that I previously could not find adequate answers for, and I highly recommend it.
