ABSOLUTELY LOVED. simple as that.

If it was possible to hug a book and receive a hug at the same time, this would be the one. This book puts hardships at different levels in different perspectives and makes you feel less alone no matter what level you’re at. The author, Christina, moved me to tears with her stories and her life milestones. This book made me feel less alone and want to seek help for the darker days where the struggle feels impossible to hurdle.

Christina, Thank you for putting your whole heart and everything into this book. You are amazing!

riveting experience of being a therapist

This book was an experience. Published this morning, I blew through the words of this book and experienced an array of emotions. I had laughter and tears throughout the book as Christina Brown shared difficult stories and events of her life— experiences that remind us- no one is perfect. Well done and will recommend to anyone who knows anything about therapy or wants to learn more about therapy.

As a fellow mental health provider, this book felt like a sigh of relief to me. Christina helps explain the burnout and secondary trauma that counselors and providers experience. But the point she really drove home- this career takes passion, commitment, and fight. Christina, you aren't alone! Thank you for this.

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD! This book gives an insider look at the highs and lows of working in the mental health field. I learned how much therapists go through day to day, and how truly strong they have to be to work in the mental health field. An interesting memoir that is bound to pull at your heart’s strings.

I cried at work when I read the Phone Call chapter

This book is short and bittersweet in the best way. Anyone who works in service to others or with vulnerable populations this book is for you.

I worked with children in school and the highs are rare and cherished and the lows are felt emotionally and mentally and I could relate to this authors stories in that way.

Definitely a great read ❤️

I loved reading this book so much. This memoir tells the story of mental health and substance abuse issues and recovery journeys through the eyes of mental health providers. The stories were also candid and emotional, and the book had such a sincere vibe. I am so thankful that Christina chose to be so vulnerable, and to share these stories with us. Sometimes it seems like everyone focuses on the negative impacts of substance-abuse issues, and it was really refreshing to hear the positive ways she impacted her patients and the recovery process that followed some of them. This is such a special book, and I am so glad I got to read it.

Christina Brown shares meaningful stories giving insight into the life of a therapist working with souls suffering with substance abuse. I loved the vulnerability and rawness that was brought to each page. I couldn’t put it down. Have your kleenex handy, though. You will laugh, and you’ll cry. An excellent read.

You really don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives, and this book serves as a reminder of that and to treat people with kindness and grace. Christina does an excellent job bringing readers into the world of therapy and describing the raw, real feelings that come along with it, both as a patient and a therapist. A must-read to further understand human connection and emotion!

This was eye opening, as the wife of an addict, to see the therapists point of view. I am excited to see what her future writing endeavors bring with more experience. :)
