Even if you know how this true story ends this book is absolutely riveting for its drama, awe inspiring for Joe Simpson's ability to keep going when giving up would be easier and thought provoking for the way a higher dominant inner voice drives him on when his conscious mind is slipping into hallucinations and also for his much later thoughts on post traumatic trauma. In its genre this is definitely one of the best books I have read.

Solid, if you like this sort of thing. Now I have to rewatch (what I recall as being an excellent) film adaptation to compare and contrast
