Clueless to his wife's plan, Germaine continues to be a loving naive husband while Niquole's full blown affair quickly becomes her sick obsession. Desperate to start a new life with her new man, Niquole does everything in her power to push Germaine out of the picture. Little does she know Kingston plans are different from hers. Sit back and see what happens when a wife learns that the price of betrayal can have a shattering toll.
Good book over all. Nikki was a trip with her nasty ways treating everyone like they were dirty. I was starting to not like her myself.
Nikki getting involved with Kingston that she started to fall in love with and was having plans in running away with him and leaving her husband Germaine and taking her two boys with her.
Germaine tried working it out with Nikki dealing with her mouth everyday. They married became strange while he slept in one room she slept in another room.
Kingston has his own plans that involved Nikki but Nikki mind was on him loving her and she loving him.
I don’t know why I wasted my time but it’s like they’ll give anyone with a keyboard a book deal. I’ve always had an issue with urban stories but decided to give this one a chance since it was free. Boy I wish I got my money and my time back. It took a lot to get past all the grammatical errors, but the plot? BASURA!!! Nothing about it was realistic, even for urban fiction. And the descriptions of everything was worse. Name brand this and I’m the baddest bitch. And what man do you know would grovel and plead with a spoiled brat wife that thought the greatest gift she had was between her legs that she wasn’t even sleeping with? C’mon man! I blame not only the publisher but honestly her family and friends that hyped her up thinking this was a good idea. I’ve written better fiction in the third grade. With less mistakes, nonetheless. Don’t waste your time not worth it.
Great read with lots of drama! Nequole is one cold hearted obsessed individual. I'm glad it ended the way it did although I was disappointed in what Germaine was being accused of. I wonder what part 2 has in store.....
Niquole Wright has it made and is living the lavish life with expensive clothes and cars, two children, celebrity status among her peers, and a thriving record label. All seems perfect in her world except for her husband “situation”. Obviously no longer in love with her husband, Niquole engulfs herself in an extramarital affair with Kingston. Losing sight of everything of importance around her, each day brings increase to her new obsession. Niquole no longer respects her husband, neglects their children, and mistreats her family and friends. Everyone around her isn’t ignorant to what’s going on in her personal life, however; especially the anonymous person that threatens to expose her secrets to Germaine. Niquole takes a nonchalant approach to their threats since all she seems to care about is spending the rest of her life with Kingston anyway. Make no mistake; her money is just as important. Her money being the reason she hasn’t left her husband already. While Niquole is busy planning her escape with Kingston, Germaine is desperately trying to hold their family together. Little do either of them know, Kingston seems to have a plan all his own.
Karma is the bitch that needs to give Niquole Wright a good beat down! Her character, or lack thereof, is developed so well that my blood boiled the entire read. Racy, erotic, and suspenseful, The Available Wife was a hard book to put down and walk away from. The plot is strong and the twists are very compelling. Despite the slight editing issues, the story is very much enjoyable and well written. The drama starts on page one and doesn’t stop until the last page where Pennington made sure to leave readers anticipating more. What I like most about this book is the lesson behind the fiction. The characters bring awareness to the issue of codependency in some who put addiction ahead of everything else in their life. This story shows what it looks like from the outside looking in when people don’t value their blessings. Good fiction story telling and life lessons make for a fantastic book!

This book was dramatic... Niquole was a real b***, I'll say that much. She was a b**** to everyone and seemingly for reasons that were unjustified. In my opinion, the author attempted to give her a backstory that explained her surly attitude, but it left something to be desired and didn't in any way, shape or form account for her horrible actions. I think I could have sympatized more with her if it had been identified that she had some type of mental disorder. That being said, the book was entertaining in the sense that it definitely held my attention. My problem was that outside of Niquole being a b**** it didnt have much of a plot. It seemed the book revolved around her and there were subtle side plots that eventually tried to come to the forefront of the story. It is also my opinion that the book was plot driven rather than character driven. For instance, the author developed a type of personality for the husband that we became accustomed to only to turn around and have him do something that seemed totally out of character. The same goes for the Jalisa character. It kind of had me wondering "what in the world," but not necessarily in shocked or stunned way... just in a what was she thinking way.
There will be a sequel and I believe that I will read it considering I do want to know more about Niquole and if she does, indeed, have a mental disorder. All in all, decent read.
What do you give the woman who has it all? Nothing, she will take whatever she wants! The Available Wife by Carla Pennington is that type of book, it reaches out and grabs you and won't let you go!
Meet Niquole Wright, she is the CEO and owner of Kingquole Records and a woman who knows what she wants and will do whatever she has to do in order to make that happen. Niquole's husband Germaine, who loves her with his everything but can not get those feelings in return. Jalisa, Niquole's friend/enemy who she has been friends with forever but she does not really like her. Niquole's mother who she hates with a passion and does not have any problem with letting her know. And then there is Kingston, the love of Niquole's life and the man she is having an affair with.
Niquole and Kingston has been having an affair since she was 8 months pregnant with her second son and she is head over heels in love with him and she knows he feels the same way because of the mind-blowing, earth-shattering sex that they have but that is the only indication from him that she is receiving that he loves her, but she just knows that he does. Shortly after the affair starts, Niquole starts receiving blackmail letters demanding large amounts of money - and thats when the problems begin!
Although I did enjoy this book, judging from all the hype I expected more. It took longer than usual to complete the read bc i never identified with the storyline or the characters. I have never had so much disgust for a main character in my life. Niquole was doing the most... She was so selfish, rude, inconsiderate, ruthless and conniving. Basically the chick was a scandalous you know what. I cringed at the way that she spoke to and treated her husband, children and mother. Even after reading the book I still have no idea why she had so much hatred towards her husband and children . Sadly there was also apart of her that was sick mentally. The way that she degraded herself for Kingston as well as the other men mentioned was both sad and shameful. The story was filled with tons of drama and twists but the twists were a bit far fetched for me. Overall, I rate it a 3.5.
Where to start, where to start... The erotica description was short, and weak. One paragraph after he "glided inside me", there was a buildup that consisted of: "I loved it when we climaxed together. Moments later, we did just that." Nothing about the sensations that led to that point, or during that moment. And the next sentence was about him pulling out and going back to the room. All the scenes were that quick - and the scenes come fast and furious. It will make your head spin if you try to skim. The grammar and spelling wasn't the greatest, and were definitely a distraction. In the acknowledgments the author thanks the lord above, which I found amusing. I'm not sure He gives strength to people so they can write erotica, but what do I know? I couldn't finish. I got to page 100 (of I believe 150)
Niquole has it all money, power, respect and A loving husband and two wonderful children. She feels out of touch in her marriage and seeks love in a relationship with Kingston. As the book progresses, Niquole finds out that everything that glitters is not gold. Carla Pennington delivers a fast paced, enjoyable read that will leave you on the edge of your seat ,impatiently awaiting the sequel. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a "good read". Carla has definitely raised the bar for the urban fiction literary market!
This book was chose by my reading club. I kinda thought this was going to be a lightweight bit of nonsense, but actually it was quite a fast paced action packed book. It had very graphic sex scenes, but apart from that the story line was surprising and good. Part two to be discussed at our reading club on Sunday.
Carla Pennington's The Available Wife is a must read. I enjoyed every page of this book and the last 50 pages turned by themselves. Hats off to an excellently written novel by a very talented writer. I look forward to reading part two.
Niquole wanted what she wanted under any circumstances. Her drama kept me up till 330am so i could finish this one. I am telling you if you don't have it go and buy it right this second. You won't be disappointed.
I didnt understand Nikki. She had deep rooted issues. She still loved Kingston after she found out everything he did to her and why. I just didnt understand her actions in this book.
This was an ok story. To much time spent on wife degrading her husband. Felt sorry for the children. She needs to get head out of Ass and start taking responsibility for them.
Yeah, I know I wasn’t supposed to read this book because I’m white. I knew I was in the wrong place because, according to my kindle, the word “Nigga” appears 29 times. I read the book because I thought the sex might be good.
This is perhaps the most offensive novel I have ever read. I wish I could have given it zero stars. I only kept reading as I wanted to see the main character, Nikki, punished because, as her friend Jalisa says about her, “All these years, you’ve been a selfish, inconsiderate, greedy, conniving bitch”. That doesn’t even come close to describing how evil she is. And, I might add, deranged, as no normal person would ever talk to their husband, friends, and family in the insulting, disrespectful, and savage manner Nikki uses almost exclusively.
Well, I waited and waited, and suffered through atrocious prose, stupid repetitive dialogue, and vile characters, to find out that, yes, Nikki gets punished. But along the way I learned that nearly every character in the book, except for the young children, is violent, deceitful, lustful, vengeful, full of rage, gleefully cruel, and just overall despicable. I hated every one of them.
Even the sex is wooden and passionless. Well, actually the sex consists mostly of rape and sexual molestation. Nikki seems to like being manhandled by whatever man is exploiting her. I sure hope real black women don’t find this sort of thing arousing. Pennington thinks she has effectively emasculated Germaine because she gives him only a 9 incher, compared to the bigger equipment sported by A.J. and Kingston. That’s apparently not enough for Nikki. Poor baby.
This story is vulgar and unhinged. I know this is fiction, and I dearly hope there are not actually people in the world who behave this way.
I am SO glad the dreadful experience of reading this book is over. Imagine my shock to find that there is a sequel. I will not be reading it, thank you.
OMG this is one of the best books I've read in years. All the twist and turns were like a run away roller coaster. One of the best page turners I've randomly selected in decades. The characters were well craft and easy to latch on. I'm definitely going to read the next installment immediately. I must know what happened next. Excellent crafted story that flowed brilliantly like a movie. Job well done
This book was really good so good to the point where I really had real feelings towards the Characters! Germaine didn't deserve all the stuff going on with him I just wish he grew a backbone in some situations. I have no words for niquole , I don't feel her at all and Kingston has me speechless as well. I really enjoyed this book , they just finished filming the movie I can't wait to see it!
Good and messy! Nikki was delu-Lu! Germaine was oblivious and naive. Kingston was opportunistic and narcissistic. Nikki was willing to hurt any and everyone to get what she wanted. She truly got exactly what she deserved. Like NeNe said, you can never win being dirty. Looking forward to reading/listening to the sequel see what shenanigans that Nikki will get into next.
This is my first read by this author and it was one crazy ride. The female character, Nicquole had no redeeming qualities. I really didn't like her but it's interesting enough for me to read Book 2, just to see how it turns out.
The Available Wife ( The Available Wife Series Book 1
OMG!!! I can't believe the drama that has been unfolding !!! I can't wait to read the next book . Will Jalise kill her sister? Will Germaine and jalise be together ?
This book took me on a rollercoaster. I was happy, sad, then mad. I need to know more. This needs to be turned into a show or movie or something. I was glued to the book. I couldn’t even work half the time. I just had to keep reading.
I'm floored and how gullible Nicole was over Kingston. She was looney as they come. And selfish....Whew!!!! She was a hot mess. There were some turns in this book that I never expected and it truly kept me intrigued to know more. Great book!!!
