Disaster just a heartbeat away.

Newly turned vampire Georgia can deal with the "dead all day" part, but she definitely wishes the rest of her new lifestyle came with a training manual. Despite all the legends, she cannot turn into a bat at night, and finding a vein to suck doesn't come easy. Luckily, she's got a new boyfriend willing to help her. Unluckily, a vampire hunter with a stake may prove at least one myth true: how to kill an undead girl.

This book is absolutely horrendous. This book contains absolutely no merit as literature, and simply reads like some teenager's hastily scribbled fan fiction in which she becomes a vampire.

The narrator is a sickly, soon to be dead young adult who heads off to college to look for a vampire to turn her. She read on the internet that vampires are real, so instead of spending her last years with her loving parents, she is going to go to college to hunt for a mythical creature.

The narrator is described as being unattractive and frail, but when she goes out to the club and throws on some lipstick, she is immediately approached by an attractive man who looks like a vampire. He turns down dances from other women and dances with her all night.
By the way, all of this happens in the span of 10 pages. The author does NOT understand the concept of pacing.

The narrator calmly asks random handsome dude if he is a vampire. He denies it for like 2 seconds, and then agrees to turn her.

I basically stopped here, because this was horrible. Ugh. People, there is no reason to publish your atrocious fan fiction....

Cute story and an easy read!

The cover catches your attention quickly and the storyline keeps it. Georgia’s wish to have a life not marred by doctors and hospitals is believable and heartfelt. It was fun to see her take a goal and make it a reality.

Her characters were well thought out and made you think you could pick them out in a room of people. My only wish was that Dominic played a bigger part. I’m hoping to see more of him in her future books.

The Thanksgiving Dinner was great and her ways of solving the issues at hand were creative and fun. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the future books of the series!

Vampire Career: Turning Vampire 1

This was a cute little story and I am sure the younger crowd will enjoy it a lot. It has some funny quirks in it which keeps it just interesting enough for younger readers.
I would recommend this book to them.

This is a cute, clean vampire romance. Georgia makes a fairly pathetic vampire in general but the relationship that happens between her and her boyfriend is weirdly sweet. Their solution to finding a job is quite creative and a little silly. Great quick read for the sleepless night I had.

Won this in a contest. A different type of vampire story. Born with a weak heart, and being told she only had about a year to live, Georgia starts looking for a vampire. Not only does she find one, she is turned and a different life begins for her.

When there is no cure for a fatal disease, what is a girl to do? Georgia decided to become a vampire. Now, she must learn to make her own way in her new life. Lucky for her, handsome and helpful Justin is all too willing to help her navigate!

This new novel from Phoebe Matthews explores the reality of a choice that cannot be reversed. One thing I thought was really creative was the Thanksgiving Day dinner scene with Georgia’s parents, and those doctors.

The ride home from that also posed an interesting challenge which I thought was solved creatively. Daylight rules for traditional vampires definitely applied in this novel, and it was nice to see them!

Another aspect I found enjoyable was the way that Georgia found to make use of her night time life style to make money. Having a teen club with a vampire theme is something I would have never thought of having any vampire do. It just goes to show you that creative individuals will always find a way around their problems. Georgia certainly proved that.

This was an easy to read, yet enjoyable book. I will definitely be suggesting it to all of my friends in the near future. I will also be keeping a close eye on Matthews, and hope for a new book in this series soon!

Georgia has been ill her entire life. Suffering from a rare heart disease, she’s weak, pale and unable to walk more than a few steps at a time. Advised by her doctor that her life expectancy is short, she makes a career choice–she’s going to become a vampire. A logical and intelligent young woman, Georgia wants more ‘living’ time, even if that time is nocturnal.

Heading to college on the Pacific coast of Washington state, she seeks out a vampire and is turned. Georgia has to learn fast how to solve the problems that comes with her decision. With the help of Dominic, the vampire who turned her, she tries to follow his directions, but is abandoned by him and his coven before she’s fully trained.

Justin duVeer, an electrician and human, is attracted to Georgia. He helps her over some of the hurdles of her new life and becomes her surrogate blood donor. Yet what’s in store for the two of them is a flight you’ll want to share.

VAMPIRE CAREER is book one in Phoebe Matthews’s Turning Vampire series. Read it...read it...read it. If you’re a fan of vampire books, or if you’re not a fan, or it you’re up to your eyes in vampire stories, this one is worth the time.

Matthews gives us a whimsical twist to vampires. Georgia is a newbie vampire. Learning the ropes of the undead is tough. Despite the challenges of the undead Georgia would face the alternative which is dead. We traipse along with Georgia as she tries to master the fine art of blood sucking. As Georgia maneuvers the trials of her new 'life' she gains a romantic interest, a quasi mentor and becomes a entrepreneur.

Georgia is resourceful, and enjoyable. Matthews is creative adding humor in fun doses. A whole new way to get sucked into the vampire world. A light, alternative read offering a very unique insight into 'change' - underlying theme. Witty approach into the paranormal genre by Matthews.

It's hard out there for a vamp. But Georgia, a vampire newbie is doing her best at being undead. What choice does she have - otherwise she'd just be dead.Good guy vampire Dominick introduces her to vampire ways but Georgia literally finds it difficult fitting into a good vein. Then Justin, a non-vampire,finds her fascinating and is willing to become her personal blood bank. They also appear to be falling in love. True love in the vampire world is plagued with problems. Stakes, vampire hunters, and sunlight to name a few.I found this book to be bloody good fun.
