This book had some grammatical errors that really bothered me and made the book feel rushed, unedited, and as though it had not been proof read. For example:

“She had married a kind and loving man, not without his faults, but he neither was she” and “I tell you off so you don’t won’t do it again”

These were both within four pages of each other and the first half of the book follows this trend, however the second half of the book improved vastly.

Despite this I liked the stories, especially the fact that some of them were based around people who were quite unwell and told the story of their being more to life and providing hope for people in similar situations. However the stories were quite similar and didn’t provide enough variety.

Can I first say that normally I dislike short stories, preferring to get my teeth into a full-length novel.
However, as soon as I picked up Kristina Jackson's book and read the first few pages I knew I was on to something different. Reading the author's bio I discovered she is suffering from some kind of rare blood disorder that leaves her pretty-much incapacitated for much of her working day. But on reading her collection I was treated to the sunny side of her; plucky and sweet- natured; her true character shining through each tale.

Each story is about the main character and overcoming her misfortunes, and in no way did I feel sorry for the character as every time she comes up with a good, if not happy ending.

Each tale is well thought out, and the themes are different from some of the usual well-oiled 'girl and boy' scenario

I loved this book. It’s a collection of stories that carry a melancholic theme but don’t be dismayed! There is so much hope and optimism in this collection that you cannot help but smile and finish with such a feel-good feeling in your heart that you’ll be pleased you spent an afternoon absorbing all that emotion in one brief read. This author is a master in expressing triumph over difficulties, both physically and mentally, that you can’t help but love each tale inside.

I must admit that I’m not usually a fan of shorts mainly because in my eyes the story isn't always developed enough. This is DEFINITELY not the case here. Ms. Darling does an absolutely amazing job in plot, action, conflict, and emotion to give you an entire tale in a few short pages. Now that’s definitely skill! If you want a feel-good read, check this out!

If you want to read about real people overcoming real problems in inspirational short stories, then Feathers by Kristina Jackson is for you. She doesn’t portray perfect heroes and heroines or the rich and famous, but each person is heroic in their own right. In each story, the main character is dealing with either a physical, mental, or financial obstacle. The language was a bit different than I’m used to—the writer is from Wales—but I was pleasantly surprised that I found it fun to read. I love seeing writers use words like “whilst” and “mum.” This was my first set of short stories and it was nice change to the usual lengthy novel.

Let me start off by saying this is the ultimate 'Feel Good' book. It is a series of 5 short stories with 'Happy Endings' as its main theme. In each story the protagonist has some sort of hurdle to overcome but then by the end there is a happy ending.

I loved it. Each story was well thought out, never descending into either saccharine sweetness or melancholy. I would most definitely like to see more from this author. As a first novel it shows tremendous promise.

Cute cozy read of short stories and quaint with the European words we don't use in the US. The stories were different, nothing I've read before dealing with everyday life for certain people. The combination makes for a good book!
