Competition is fierce, both on and off the ice, when Charlie is invited to Youth Elite Hockey School. In this third book in the Game Time series featuring teenage hockey player Charlie Joyce, a summer hockey program promises to provide the opportunity of a lifetime. There will be visits by NHL coaches, top trainers, and expert analysts, not to mention the chance to play with the best players in his age group, including his friends Scott and Nick... and his arch-rival Jake. Charlie is stoked. But things don't go as planned. While Charlie makes Team 1, things are going wrong between him and the other guys, and even the coaches seem to be down on him. To make things worse, the NHL coach's Stanley Cup ring goes missing. That is, until it shows up in Jake's gear. Charlie is pretty sure Jake didn't do it... and he's pretty sure he knows who did. The Game Time series is a perfect selection for hockey lovers and for the reluctant boy reader. Fast-paced, authentic scenarios, coupled with the competitive spirit of high school hockey create a truly compelling read.
Making the cut By David Skuy was about Charlie trying to overcome the fact that he's in a hockey training camp with other elite players and his arch rival. Even though Charlie makes the cut for team 1 he still runs into many problems. Charlie team seems to not get along with him and neither are the coaches. And on top of that his the Coaches Standley cut ring goes missing and happens to appear in his best friends hockey bag. But like a good friend he was on jakes side and was certain that he didn't do but he is sure who might have done it.
Making the cut by David Skuy was a thrilling book and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I really like how it expressed the thinking and how Charlie was feeling. It's also a book of motivation because Charlie is running into all sorts of problems but he is still able to keep his head up and continue to play hockey. And that's why I rate this book 4/5
After reading 'Making the Cut' by David Skuy, I really enjoyed the novel because of its action and relative subject of my hockey sense. This is the second book I've read by the author david Skuy, Im now reading Overtime which is in the same series as Making the Cut. Through the story the main character Charlie Joyace has to overcome his challenges of being a top bantam prospect on the upcoming draft. Charlie goes away to a 2 week elite hockey game. It ended up that Charlie had some friends that he already knew and some people to his disliking. When Charlie goes to camp he mights up against his arch rival Jake. Hear the end of camp both players are on Team 1 which is the top team to be on when in the camp. On the last day of camp, there Team 1 coach stanley cup right had be stolen. To Conclude the ending Charlie was the hero of the camp and will be remembered for some time. In conclusion I loved this book and hope to read more of the author , I recommend his book to ages 12-15 if your a hockey expert its perfect novel!
