By C.K. Ralston, author of over forty novels published by eXtasy Books, New Dawning Bookfair, Renaissance E-Books, and others.

We read magazines, non-fiction books, newspapers, and technical journals for information; we read fiction for pleasure. The new thriller mystery/thriller/romance, The Bundle, from Tim Smith represents this genre of fiction in its purest form, namely, it was a pure pleasure to read.

The main characters are nicely drawn and rapidly become three-dimensional beings in the reader’s mind as the chapters fly by, and old pro Tim Smith throws in just enough verbal brushstrokes to bring secondary characters to life as well. The plot is straightforward, serviceable, and slightly familiar, but with enough twists along the way to keep things fresh and moving forward. Successful hometown girl singer returns on a promotional tour, stalked by someone who wants a million dollars for not killing her but who harbors enough of a grudge to kill her even if her management team opts to pay as agreed.

Enter Vic Fallon, a local ex-cop with a private license who owes singer Kimberly Daniel’s attorney, Evan O’Shea a favor, in this case, to watch over his client while she’s in Cleveland and keep her safe. Vic is handsome, tough, savvy, and bored with pampered, spoiled celebrities before he even meets his new charge.

Gorgeous and more vulnerable than she appears, Kimberly turns out to be far from the bad-tempered diva the fan magazines make her out to be, however, and unexpected sparks soon fly between her and her rough-and-tumble new bodyguard. The sex is hot and graphic and the love affair between the star and her new protector is just as believable and real.

Will Vic figure out who has it in for Kimberly in time to save her? Will their unlikely pairing grow into something more than two attractive ships passing in the night?

Pick up a copy of The Bundle and find out. You won’t be sorry you did; it’s quite a ride.
