“ I couldn’t care less what anybody thinks of me. They don’t pay my bills. And there’s nothing wrong with using what your mama gave you to get exactly what you want . . .”

Celess knew she had to stop living the fast life and settle down, maybe even start a family—if she could find a man who could get past her secret. But you know what they say: Once you go bad, you can never go back. And if beauty is pain, Celess has suffered more than most and she knows how to use her looks to her advantage. She hooks up with well-connected Miami bad girl Sienna, and together they move with one purpose—get money.

When modeling and bit parts in movies aren’t enough, Celess and Sienna leave L.A. and head to Italy to open what quickly becomes the fastest-growing escort service in the world. They have it all—looks, style, and a six-months-long waiting list. Life is good, but they know the deal—there are always haters on the way to the top. Celess and Sienna are ready for the backstabbing and drama that come with money, power, and sex, but they’ll be surprised by just who will turn on them. Be careful who you trust . . .

A life changing event for me occurred at my college graduation in May of 2003.
National bestselling author, Karen E. Quinones Miller, was the keynote speaker. She delivered a speech about how she had written a book, self-published it and sold so many copies on her own that major publishing houses fought to offer her a deal. I sat amongst my graduating class fully alert and attentive. It was as if Karen was talking directly to me, telling me to bypass trying to get a job in advertising copywriting and follow my true passion of becoming an author.
I was unquestionably inspired and two months after graduation I began writing my first novel, Secret Society. Three months later I had a complete manuscript and was ready to move on to the next step.

I conjured up the nerve to email Karen and let her know that she had motivated me to pursue my goals of being a writer and that I had completed my first book. I asked her for tips on self-publishing. She simply told me to let self-publishing be my last resort and that I should first seek a publishing deal. I took her advice and researched the ways to go about submitting a manuscript. I sent a query letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters of my book to Teri Woods Publishing. Teri Woods was known for publishing urban novels and thus I figured she would be interested in Secret Society. Teri Woods was not only interested, but wanted to buy my book outright and on top of that offer me a five-book deal. I was astonished. The only thing I had to do was write a second book to prove to Teri that I could produce.

I wrote Diary of a Mistress and shortly thereafter I was poised to go to New York to sign a deal with Teri Woods. I was excited and anxious, yet nervous. I was new to the publishing industry and I wasn't sure what the contract should look like, what type of deal was appropriate and most of all if selling my book outright was a smart thing to do. Once again, I conjured up the nerve to email Karen. That time she responded by telling me to call her and her telephone number was in the body of the email. She advised me not to sell my book outright and that I needed someone knowledgeable to attend the meeting with me. After realizing that her own schedule wouldn't permit her to accompany me, she took a chance and asked her agent to do so. Liza Dawson, Karen's agent, agreed to read my manuscripts over the weekend and let me know Monday whether or not she would be willing to represent me. I immediately emailed both manuscripts to Karen and Liza.

The next day I got a call from Liza telling me how good of a writer I was and offering to be my agent. I accepted and the next thing I knew, I had three major publishing houses interested in signing me. Teri Woods was notified of this and was asked for her bid. By Monday, an auction was held. Simon and Schuster was the highest bidder offering a six-figure advance and a two-book deal far exceeding my expectations as a new, unpublished author. I was in awe. Everything that has happened from then on has been a joyride. I am living my dreams and it is with thanks to Karen E. Quinones Miller. I often wonder what I would be doing or where I would be had it not been for Karen's speech those few years ago. There's no telling. But I know for sure that I am grateful that she told her story because it was truly the beginning of the success I enjoy today. Now, I feel it is my obligation to pass it on.

I am available to do speaking engagements and motivational talks at community centers, schools, group homes, prisons, outreach programs, shelters, etc. My goal is to reach as many people as I can and make a difference in the lives of others. I firmly believe To whom much is given, much is expected and indeed I have been given much.

Classic case of a series not stopping when it should have. The first two books in the series, Secret Society and Never Enough were both solid five star books. This, at best, is a three star book.
Not only do we have an important main character missing but the storyline is fluff. It's filler. I wanted what I got with the first two books - entertainment and excitement. What I got was... fluff.
No one get me wrong - Miasha can write. She's one of the handful of urban fiction authors that can get through to such a large audience. She's one of the handful I haven't given up on. She's one of the handful that can actually take a white character (gasp!) and not give him a little dick and an ugly face.
She walks to her own beat and doesn't just follow the lead of other authors. Usually. I hope she wrote this because fans asked for it and not because a 'series' is such a hot thing right now. A series is only a hot thing if the story is there. If it's not, all the people screaming about how much they love a series, turn their back on it quick.
This is what I want from Miasha - a new series with some banging new characters. This isn't a bad book by any means. It's actually a good book. But going from the first two to this? No go. I want the first two back.
The Return of Chatman might be good because of the spin-offedness. (That's my own word folks.) I'll read it because I knew early on Miasha had what it takes.
Side-note - for her fans - read her bio here on GR. It's interesting and it shows how easily she could have slipped into something else and never started writing. It's obvious who her fans have to thank for this.

Another five-star read! I'm glad Celess was found not guilty on all her charges. I hate that all those people had to die though. Chatman was relentless! I know that won't be the last time hearing about him. I'm just waiting on the next book...

Celess and Si Si are back in another unrealistic tale. This time they flea the United States because they are wanted for murder. They run to Si Si's old rich friend in Rome and he endlessly helps them out in every way possible but, they soon are on the run again. They bounce from country to country opening successful escort services but somehow, it always comes crashing down. They have to deal with many obstacles and before long they aren't only running from the law. They find out Chatman is on the loose and after them.

Celess had a sex change operation to further become a woman and is not only still deceiving men but now women as well, which makes no sense. More disastrous consequences follow when her secret comes to light again, but as always Celess somehow manages to not learn a thing and continues on her path of destruction. Not only is she back on drugs but she also comes off as a back stabbing "frenemy", which is very disappointing.

Si Si and her ex boyfriend turned half brother Ryan reunite after many years. Ryan is still coping with that fact that they are actually related so watching them find balance in a brother/sister relationship is more than interesting and is the best part of the novel.

Again Si Si is the light of this novel, it really could of gone on without Celess. In fact, Celess' character just brings down the novel in every way. Yes Chatman is after Si Si but every other problem besides that seems to stem from Celess. Hopefully this is the last series involving Celess.

I don't know maybe I'm just over the business that Celess always ends up in but this book just seemed so implausible. From nearly escaping death in the U.S. to multiple trips abroad I just wanted more than the fantasy that was being sold. I feel like Celess hasn't learned her lesson from the previous books and keeps falling in the same rut. All too late does any sort of redemption or understanding come into play and it was too little too late. I know that this is just a story and it's written for entertainment but it really fell short in that department for me. I've enjoyed other books by the author but if she pens another book featuring Celess I'll probably pass.

This book was just ok. I guess had I known it was a trilogy I would have read the others first. However it was good enough for me to find the first 2 and to get started on reading them.
