I'rone's guardians have never particularly like Betreec, but that hasn't damped her determination to catch his eye. When every able bodied person in the Capital is turned out to search the abandoned sections of caverns for a lost child, it seems like the perfect opportunity to get him out where she can start acting on her interest. When the stakes grow to include more than just a few stolen moments Betreec will realize just how little she really knew I'rone before they set out.
I'rone is the epitome of the strong and silent man. He does what needs to be done to serve and protect. He does it with a minimum of words. He does because it is right not for glory.
This short story takes a leap back in time to when I'rone was but a boy and not yet married to either Betreec or Jasmine. It is a short story but still manages to provide an interesting addition to the series and tells you how Betreec and I'rone came to be (also Jasmine but that only becomes clearer later on). Something happens in this story that becomes a point of interest in the following books so it is definitely worth reading if you are going to read the series.
Short but packed full of relevant information. Definite bonus to read.
Irone is an interesting background read to the Guadel Chronicles. Albeit very short, it was interesting to see where Irone, Betreec, and Jasmin started. It adds more depth to the characters once you've read Frozen Prospects, book one of the Guadel Chronicles. Well worth the short time it takes to read it.
I'rone is an interesting character and promises to be a fascinating personality. While i know this is a short story, I was still hungry for more than I got.
The characters are deeply developed in this novella. I haven't read any of the other books in this series; in reading the synopsis for the other books, I don't even see these characters mentioned.
