Gave a lot of contemporary decorating ideas from multiple designers...a good reference and starting place for the lay person considering a home design project. Tons of pictures! It helps to break the process down to 7 layers....from paint to lighting.

I've had this in my library for years, it's a nice, quick reference book filled with design principles and easy to pull off ideas. I think it's a good starter book for someone who just wants to pick up a few interior design tips and tricks. Great layout, good mix of images and copy is presented in bite-sized blurbs. I'm not a fan of the long treatises on design philosophies or the genesis of an interior. For me, design books should either be inspirational via elegant, luscious images or quick reference manuals. Everything else is just a designer who takes themselves WAY too seriously.

I own this and it is more of a coffee table book. Alot of the so called secrets are not that big of a secret. Did get some good tips though. That is why I put a 3..
