No matter whether I read this daily or once every few months... it always has a message on comfort and wisdom. And it got me thru some very dark times after my husband passed away.
I think I got this on kindle for $2-$3, and I'm glad I did. The devotional writing is nice, but nothing special- I like it mostly as a collection of 120 soothing scriptures to think about before bed. For the last few months, if I was feeling particularly tense or stressed before bed, I would get this out and read a couple and breathe while repeating the verses, and look through the author's thoughts. Definitely worth $3 for that!
A wonderful reminder of God’s presence and provision, this book includes 120 brief Scripture readings, devotions and prayers especially suitable for reading at bedtime.
I was ministered to greatly by reading these before turning in for the night. They helped me release the daily life things and focus on God's Word and promises.
QUIET REFLECTIONS OF PEACE --This a daily devotional book, so it may take a little longer to read it. I have this book on my kindle but I also bought the book to put by my bed. The small hard back book is beautiful but the print is so small I call hardly read it. It also has some beautiful pictures in it. My suggestion is to put it on you kindle so you can adjust the print size. If you decide to put it on the Kindle you do not get the beautiful pictures, you only get the beautiful pictures in the hard back book. It is also written in a light print which makes it really hard to read. Each message is only one page long so it's not to bad to read. I have enjoyed the small book it has some very good messages in it. I will take it off of my books that I am reading and put it in my already read books although I am still reading it.
This was offered awhile back as a free download on kindle, and I have to admit that the 120 devotionals were very enjoyable to read, and were often the perfect thing to read and think over before bed.
The book includes bible scripture, such as:
Proverbs 3:24 "When you lie down, you will not be afraid. As you lie there, your sleep will be sweet."
and
Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest."
It also includes the writers thoughts on verses, such as "Tonight, in the midst of life and all its uncertainties, consider God's promise of guidance. He will never start you on a journey only to abandon you in the middle of it."
I found the meditations in this devotional book to be just the right length with enough depth to quiet and prepare my mind for sleep under God's watchful care.
This was a thought provoking collection of devotions. We need to keep focused on the Lord. The devil constantly tries to distract us with earthly attractions that can never satisfy us. O Lord, how excellent is they Name.
I give this book 5 stars for it truly was a book to read at night. Not too short but just for you to think on. They should do another book like this, day devotions are nice, but l now want to get more into nighttime devotions.
Nice devotions to end your day, short and sweet. I'll still be reading this one just not every night. I've got some more in-depth nonfiction books to get to reading.
A devotion that touches many subjects and to finish the day in a good way. A mix of devotions where some spoke to me and some did not. Some also had a focus group on mainly women.
