The Rest is History: A Romance

Rate this book
I was at a wedding purely for work related connections. Originally, my boyfriend was supposed to accompany me, but he broke up with me earlier in the day when I discovered that he had been cheating. So, there I was, alone at a weddingreception on what was not my best day.I was surprised when a handsome stranger sat next to me. I had expected that seat to be empty all night and suddenly found myself feeling vulnerable enough to get charmed by this stranger and tell him my life story. I learned a lot about him, too. His name was Caleb Morgan, and he was an eligible bachelor. I left the wedding once other women began asking him to dance.Caleb was a much needed distraction to end an awful day, but I never expected to see him again. You can guess how that worked out.

Loved the premise & plot but had some issues

I was really enjoying this one - I love when her characters have different or even unusual careers, & not only is Chloe's interesting, but we finally get an idea about Max's (which promises the possibility of an exciting future story in the series).

I was curious - & wish she had shared more - about the mime therapy. I tried to find out more about it on the internet, but all I could find was related to physical therapy to improve motor skills & the ability to emote.

I was frustrated that Chloe went from this naturally calm & controlled person to an overly emotional teenager who struggled to control or express herself. It was like she had never felt emotions before & didn't know what to do with them. Caleb seemed to be more mature & steady than her.

Even where she recognized from her training that she was struggling with PTSD, she made no serious effort to try to deal with it herself, let alone discuss it with a colleague. It's nice that Caleb makes her feel safe, but that's not a solution, it's using him as a crutch to avoid dealing.

I also was less than thrilled with the TMI part of the otherwise sweet epilogue. I appreciated the author's effort to keep the intimate touch between husband & wife discreet, but it was still more than we needed to know. I dislike scenes that make me into a virtual peeping tom.

So I liked the story overall, but those aspects of it are the reason I reduced my normally high rating for her books.

*Romance level: passionate kisses, some discreet but adult content as mentioned above, nothing graphic

*Religion: generically present with a light touch

This was an adorable story with Caleb and Chloe meeting by chance at a wedding. Without giving too much away, there's some mystery and dangerous activity going on, but their meetings over time are just right and actually quite a surprise. Great chemistry, beautiful moments. A bit of Christian discussion but not central to the story, definitely adds to it, however. It's good to revisit the Morgan family. The story also is fine as a standalone, but it adds to it if you know the history. Worth reading.

I'm not sure how she does it but every single new release just keeps getting better. I love this Morgan/Cameron series and I honestly don't want it to end (even though I know her next series will be just as fabulous). Chloe is strong and doesn't know she wants a reliable man until Caleb shows up and quietly proves how he loves her. Caleb is intelligent and steady. I loved learning a little more about Max and Casey, this is a great series. I LOVE Brooke St James and her clean, carefree, practical, interesting, informative and almost whimsical writing style. 5 stars!!

His and her-story

I don’t know how Brooke keeps doing this but these just keep getting better and better. Caleb the absolute complete package! Chloe can I be you when I grow up please! Together they were perfection. I know the happy ending is coming but how Ms. St. James gets us there surprises me every time. I’m looking forward to book 7! I think this might be my new favorite series. All of them are re reads.

Absolutely loved it!

The Rest is History was such a good book, and I could not stop turning the pages, eager to see how Chloe and Caleb's story turned out. As with all Brooke St. James books, the main characters were easily lovable and had amazing chemistry together. The story was light and yet fulfilling at the same time. I always feel happy after reading one of her books, and this one was no exception. Loved it!!

Favorite

I absolutely loved this one. I think it's my favorite of the series. I loved the jobs, the communication between them. They acted like mature adults that they were. No "term double speak" that has been in others. So I just loved it.
Thanks from an old timer who enjoys reading your books regardless that they are geared to young people.

With all of Brooke St. James books I was sucked in and didn’t wand to come up for air! This book like her others gives me butterflies when reading about this couple. If she writes it I’ll read it.

Fantastic Book!

Chloe, a strong will woman, meets Caleb at a wedding. She is very attracted to Caleb. But she just broke up with her boyfriend. She is wondering if this is a quick rebound relationship. To find out what happens, you must read this book.

An unusual romance

Two characters are the ones talking in this book. You see things from their view with only very few other characters thoughts or actions given. An unusual meeting and an unusual romance.
