Now officially the luna of Five Fangs, Posy steps into her role with determination to do the best she can for her new pack, and her resolve and skills are tested right from the start!
From the truth about her mother to a devastating loss, Posy meets each new challenge with dignity and wisdom.
When a shocking betrayal knocks her down, will she find the courage to rise again and keep going - or will she fall prey to despair and give up on her pack, her mates, and herself?
This series is like a train wreck you can't look away from. Why did I read this? What am I punishing myself for? Two whole chapters were dedicated to a search party for the adult Luna's missing stuffed rabbit Mr. Nibbles (spoiler alert: one of her wolf mates chewed his ear off). TWO. WHOLE. CHAPTERS. Then, as we were all reeling from that devastating news, another 2 chapters were dedicated to the five adult alpha wolves figuring out how to make apology cards for their Luna. These adult males needed their little sister to walk them through using glitter and glue sticks so they could apologize to their mate for raising their voice at her. an actual quote was "sooo it's like a letter...?" THESE ARE THE MEN RUNNING THE PACK AND ASSISTING THE KING. And do not get me started on King Julien (no relation to King Julien, Lemur monarch from the 2005 animated hit Madagascar). The alphas take turns carrying the Luna around like a baby on their hip and the word "r*tarded" is used at least twice. But at least we finally got the adult female in charge of the pack to stop referring to homosexuality as "the gay." But what really took the cake was the Luna's wolf fixing her sexual trauma by taking over her mind and having very vocal sex with her equally developmentally delayed mate. Having a whole chapter of Baby Talk Dirty Talk really has scarred me for life. "I try new thing?" "It not hurt it feel good!" Goo-Goo GAG ME. I CANT DO IT AGAIN. I CANT READ THE 4TH ONE.
The plot is still very good in the series, the emotions run high and the characters are interesting. However, I still get a bit of a creepy vibe with how childlike the characters behave when having steamy interactions.
Can I just say how much appreciate thr continuation of the mental health storyline in Posy's books? I love that she isn't completely 100% after "one" therapy session that some stories try to wrap up in. Also the card making scene? I was out loud laughing over.
Posy is finding her voice as a Luna and as a mate and I am here for it. I love how Mary Ann Weir gives us all those intense and/or emotional moments followed by more lighthearted ones. Great series !
The only complaint I have to this story so far is all the convoluted story lines, and all the characters this story has. So many people to keep track of and whose related to whom. Maybe the next book the author thinks about she can do with less people. Don't get me wrong, I do like this series, but it would be an easier read if you didn't have to stop every so often and use the cheat sheet at the end to remind you of who's who. The author made Posey a darling, she could have easily made her an evil monster. I'm glad she didn't. The five guys were the right mix for her. All in all a very good series.
Before you read my review, please understand that it is a review of the SERIES and not the individual books. There are no spoilers, though. I would hate to give away too much. This is a series that needs to be experienced firsthand.
First, don't read this series for the smut. There is some hanky-panky, but it's a glacial burn, not very detailed, and feels like it was written for a YA series. (Although, if you like dirty talk, you are going to LOVE Wyatt and Quartz!) For me, this isn't really a bad thing, because I am way more of a plot reader than a smut reader. But I know it's something a lot of folks look for in reviews.
That sounds like a bad way to start a positive review, but I like ripping the Band-Aid off quickly, and that is really the only "negative" comment that I have, so I've ripped it off, and now we can get right to the good stuff!
I have been reading for 40 years, and I have never come across anything akin to this series. It is incredibly original and unique in how it's written, and I'm struggling to find a way to explain it to you. Most RH/WC have multiple, first person points of view (PoV), and this one is no different. However, unlike most, this series isn't told strictly from the primary characters' PoV. This one is told through the eyes of the main group, their individual wolves, and assorted friends, family, and colleagues' perspectives. I relished the opportunity to get to know these characters so very well. Many side characters also find their HEA in these pages, and it is very much a feel good story.
Here's a disclaimer. While this may be a feel good story, that doesn't take away from the fact that this series contains some darker themes, particularly those of domestic violence, child abuse, portrayal of autistic character, and mental health concerns such as PTSD - including flashbacks, hypervigilance, and panic attacks. Multiple characters seek outside help in the form of a pack therapist. That isn't an all inclusive list all of potential triggers, though, so read the author's content warnings and be mindful of your own mental health.
For me, this series is all about the character development. I absolutely adored the split between the human characters and their wolves. The wolves are just so much fun. I couldn’t help but fall in love with each of them. Just seeing a chapter header with one of the wolves made me grin and read faster. The sheer amount of personality written into each character, human and wolf, is simply staggering. I dare you to read it and not love Garnet, Quartz, Topaz, Granite, and Sid just as much as you love their boys. Go on. Try it.
I will say that having 12 main characters is a lot, and it took me a bit to be able to associate each wolf with its corresponding human. Things may get a little confusing at first, but the author does a magnificent job of maintaining separate, differing personalities, and it is absolutely worth a little more brain work to have the chance to really get to know everyone.
Watching Posy find solid footing and grow into a B.A.B. (bad *** *****) is pure joy. She is a delightfully innocent and naïve soul, but her lack of knowledge doesn't come across as childlike, which was a concern I had at the beginning. Reau (one of the side characters) is quite childlike in his behavior, though, and he will break your heart.
The actual plot is fairly simple. You won't find too many twists and turns here. By book 3, I had accepted that there isn't really a major, overarching storyline, so you don't really get a good grasp on what to expect from each book. There's no third act break-up. Almost zero OW/OM drama, and no ultimate bad guy who needs to be dealt with. Five Fangs is the story of what happens AFTER the bad guy gets what he deserves.
All in all, I loved the way this series was written. Every character is a delight to read, and the story gave me the warm fuzzies. 5/5 - I would definitely recommend.
This series is difficult for me to get finished. I like the actual storyline and I like the characters. However there are certain things that really really bother me. The immature childish behavior and verbiage of the wolves. They are alphas yet the wolves act like children. I personally cannot read the childish words/behavior from Posey and her mates and then read about them “mating” and dirty talk. It is just icky. I have to skip those parts of the story. I get that Posey was traumatized but it is book 3 and her drastic swings from one extreme to the other are too much. Her mate was poisoned and said mean things and automatically she runs away and thinks about “ending it all”. Not asking a single question especially after they were on a mission and not speaking to any other mate. Then he has to grovel. For what? The big “betrayal” of being infected by a parasite? Then too much drama surrounding her lost stuffed animal all coming across as childish and immature. It would be ok to make the alphas vulnerable and sensitive but making them the emotional age of a child is creepy and takes away from the story. Posey is just all over the place that it makes me dizzy.

TITLE - Luna: Posy: Book Three AUTHOR - Mary Ann Weir TYPE - Series; #3 of 5 in 'Five Fangs" POV - 1st Person - Multiple GENRE - Urban fantasy, Romance READ DATES - 3/11/2024 to 3/14/2024
MAIN CHARACTERS - Posy, Mason (Garnet), Jayden (Quartz), Ash (Obsidian), Cole (Topaz), and Wyatt (Granite)
INITIAL REACTION - Still feeling the same as I did by the end of book 2. There's a lot that happens but it's mostly just plotless drama. It's like we're just along for the ride watching Posy's life truly begin. Some of the mate stuff (insta-INSTA-love) is a bit much to be honest though. It's cheesy to the max and a little boring at times. I'm going to go ahead with the next book anyway because the characters are sweet and the events that happen still bring interest to the story.
This is book 3 in the series and I've been devouring them over the last three days. I love the different povs and that more and more characters are brought into the story. I usually read alot of dark rh and expected this one to be along the same as others. Im pleasantly surprised it is different. I has the dual personality of shifters but some of the wolves are child like in the way they talk and act. It brings out a softer side of a dark read but doesn't take away from story or the seriousness of some of the topics. There are triggers so watch for those. There is many topics some would find too much. I like that even the strong Alphas have a softer side and vulnerable side to them. I love the haram and how they are learning along side with their pack and mates. Will continue to read the rest of the series.
... and character development! Going into book 4, we are following so many characters that we care so much about. Obviously, Posy and her 5 alphas are also the betas and their mates, and in book 3, we have been introduced to the gammas and are becoming invested in their lives as well. As Posy continues to grow in her role as Luna, her mates are slow on realizing she is starting to come into her own. It's hard for them to understand, but their angel needs to be allowed to spread her wings. She just needs the room and trust to take off.
Pack: Posy continues to follow Posy and her mates as they settle into mated life and face the challenges that life brings them. I love this book as much as its predecessors, the story is really good and really captivates me and I love all the characters that have been created. I loved that this book continues to see Posy grow and come out of her shell and find out who she really is. Overall, this is another brilliant book in the series and I would recommend reading it.
Love the five fang series! The 5 alphas are absolute simps, great family life and actually act their age. Posy has a hard background but they teach her how to be confidant in a safe and healthy way. (Even getting a therapist) lots of dark stuff happens in the past but this a great trauma recovering arc that I could not put down. All the characters are people with their own stories and own issues. All just trying to do their best. I don't normally see healthy pack dynamics in my books but man this made me actually want that.
I realized there were alot of immature characters engaging in sex. It kind of bothered me. Posy and Sid mainly, but they are in all sexual situations. Lark chooses to force an issue to get past a trauma and that seemed wrong.
I liked the betrayal chapter although it was predictable. So much more could have come from that. Posy is becoming stronger mentally. There is just something pushed in this book that didn't speak to me.
When I thought Posy's trauma was bad, the author proved me wrong by introducing the queen. But before I could recover, she completely knocked me down with Reau's entry. It was heart-wrenching to see that boy suffer, but the author more than made up for that with Wayne & Archer's part. The funny parts totally cracked me up. I wish the author had toned down the steamy parts to focus more on the story as she had a very strong line going. 5-star again.
I love there was more different pov’s from the characters in this book. And how the issue with Cole and the parasite was quickly resolved and didn’t end up with posy running away for months and months. Bubba and angelo mama and papa are my favourite mates. I love how Leo got to meet his gifted mate poppy. A lot happened in this book and I really enjoyed it
Good read. So much happens in these books I’m having a hard time keeping which book it happened in straight. This time we get magical involvement. And meet bird and fox shifters. Everyone’s getting all packed up and finding mates. The guys majorly screw up with post just as she’s finding her spine. Can’t wait to read the next book with all of her dates with them
So these 3 books were a breath of fresh air and also a thunderstorm. Posy is the sweetest and strongest little Luna in the world, out of all her mates which I love Jayden and his wold Quartz are my favorite omg the ferocity and humor I got from them. Reau stole my heart oh my how I cried like a baby, this book has it all so go read them!!!
I love it so much. Like conflicts happen but are easily managed. The parasite could have been "world ending" but wasn't. The other missions could have been much more intense but they were handled nicely. Its just enough not normal events to make everything interesting but not heart wrenching.
This third book of the Five Fangs series contains two of my favorite scenes - the visit to a pet store, and making apology cards. While the series has much love, and addressees many serious issues, these two scenes had me laughing. Thanks for the humor!
Such an amazing shifters story. It is a real rollercoaster in emotions. I’ve cried I’ve laughed and got angry. Must read. Posy is the cutest sweetest girl what she endured in her young life is horrendous, and there come her mates…. Be ready and steady. I loved every book. And am lost what to read now….
Im sorry but eww . I get that the main character was imprisoned for years but goodness. As much as her mates treat her like a baby and she acts like a baby... and then you get to the "spicy" scenes and they still treat her like a toddler and talk to her like one.... grossed me out so bad. I had to force myself to finish the series.
I enjoy shifter books and am loving this series! Being able to incorporate real life issues, allowing the reader to gain understanding while really enjoying the storyline - fantastic (and thank you)
Mary Ann Weir is an amazing author!!!! I live the way she has written all of the books so far to where they just flow together and you don’t even realize the book is ending!!!! Can’t wait to read Family next!!!!
Seriously, these books are sooo good! I am sad to be nearing the last book. I hope it has a happy ending. I'm so in love with all the characters and I love how the author makes their wolves their own characters.
This book gives a broader view and understanding of the series. The characters are full of life and emotions that are maturing them. The story is getting so much better.
Still a strange series. I appreciate learning more about the pack and learning more about the people of the book. It’s a good story even if I’m not sure what we’re heading towards.
Every book just draws you in and makes you want more. It has the shock factor in parts that leave you needing a few mins before continuing. Just makes all emotions jump off the pages.
