3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Edition 284 page e-book.

Setting: Contemporary/ Current day, New York City.

Trope: Best friends widower. Surrogacy. Companionable to adversarial.

Main characters:
1. Anastasia Jackson, heroine, is a 23-year-old vice president of a publishing company that works with the hero's more lucrative publishing company despite their companies being rivals. She is also the best friend of the hero's deceased wife.
2. Terry MacPherson, hero, is a multi billionaire and CEO of New York's most lucrative publishing companies.

The premise of the story is entertaining, Miranda, the wife of the hero and best friend of the heroine, dies and leaves a will stating her desire for the best friend to be inseminated with her eggs and to be fertilized by her widower husband. It turns out that the heroine, Anastasia, has misplaced loyalty and love for her deceitful conniving friend. Terry and Anastasia make a lovely couple despite the author's over emphasizes on portraying Anastasia as an argumentative confrontational accusatorial loud mouth...other portrayed behaviors of this character don't meld with that behavior. Anastasia's sister reminded her that from high school till she married her best friend, Miranda, had purposefully dated any guy that Anastasia liked; so, Anastasia's reaction made no sense when Terry told her how Miranda sabotaged his efforts to be with her (Anastasia). There are also several grammatical errors but despite the shortcomings, I enjoyed the story.

disappointed

I am extremely disappointed & disgusted with this book. Ana the heroine was beyond stupid, annoying, & lacked an ounce of common sense. It was frustrating reading how unintelligent she was yet she is portrayed as an intelligent attorney, NOT! This dumb fool accuses everyone of lying or being wrong when she had been played by her friend her entire life. The fact that even knowing how her “friend” wasn’t really a true or loyal person, she still commits to having her baby & is selfish enough not to care about Terrys feelings. He also should have never given her his sperm. So after all her friend had done she still wanted to have a baby for her. She couldn’t see how she was again being manipulated by her deceased friend to torture her & Terry with a part of her for them to raise. This story is ridiculously stupid. I don’t recommend at least for me it was extreme disappointment. I hate silly, stupid & weak women &
& Ana was that plus some.

Too Green for me

First off Anastasia is so green that it’s unbelievable…smh That crappy so-called best friend has missed used her their entire friendship and she could even get pass the thoughts that she created of her in spite everyone tell her what a horrible person she was even in her own sister saw through her friend and she still didn’t believe. All she was focused on was giving her “best friend” her dying wish (still been manipulated). Then to do what she did the next day at the Dr office regardless of how Terry felt even after he told her why he didn’t want to do it. I really have mixed feels about this book. I just can’t believe how green she truly was..Terry should have had a stronger backbone. He caved to easily for me. If the outcome had been a little I would have enjoyed the read a little more than I did, outside of what I wrote it was okay.

Not a good read

Besides the grammatical errors and the wrong character names is some spots this book was tough to get through. The emotions jumped back and forth so much i felt as if I had whiplash. There was one scene where they main characters (Ana and Terry) were on a date. First it was a going good then the inner monologue spoke of them not liking one another. Then the dialogue had them lovey dovey but somehow they were back to talking about her best friend/his dead wife(Miranda). He told her about how he was catfished by Miranda after he told her about his interest in the her(Ana). For some dumb reason Ana did not believe him even though it was something Miranda had done to her all their lives.

The entire book is like that. So do NOT waste your time or brain cells on this book.

Unbelievable

This was a hard read. Nowhere in my imagination could I resolve that a black woman couldn't see she was being used by another woman with such character flaws as her so called friend. I tired of Ana's blind faith and trust of someone who by her own admission didn't respect her as a person. How many women wouldn't look closer if her 'friend' always dated every one she had an interest in and posted private information in a public forum. A lawyer with blind faith and trust is not believable. I have read all the other books in this series and am glad I saved this one for last. Had I not, I wouldn't have read the rest.

Beyond all belief!

How this received 5, 4, 3, or even 2 stars is unbelievable. The fmc is too stupid and childish. This was a lawyer when presented facts chose to deny them and to continue in a fantasy friendship. The obsession with the surrogacy was downright lunacy. The timeliness do not mesh...fmc and dead evil friend were friend for 16 years (since age 9) that would make them 25 or 26. The fmc was a former military lawyer who was now in the private sector. Not possible! Total waste.

Torn in a good way!

I am so torn about this book. On one hand, I hated the fact that Anastasia was so so gullible, blinded by Miranda’s that she couldn’t see the evil that was right in front of her face. The other is that the book was so well written that I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to hate it, but I couldn’t because it was so good.

Stupid

How can you be so stupid and gullible? To believe that " your best friend " would treat you that way,and you not believe what others are telling you. It took til the end of the book before she believed Miranda was not her friend. Sabotaging every relationship she tried to have. Horrible person. Miranda was pure evil.

it was ok

The storyline was good but I hated how she just couldn’t get over the fact her friend was crappy and then still went a head with the implantation. I feel as though she should have been pregnant by the husband. I also wish he would have divorced her before she passed and told Ana all of her misdeeds before.

Future Mrs. Macpherson

I really enjoyed reading the love story of Terry and Anastasia. Their love story began as enemies and developed into true love. This book contains intrigue, drama, betrayal, lies, deception, blackmail, hope, dreams, fears, and allowing love to prevail. I will be recommending this novel to everyone I know!!
