Port Myles #1

The Road Map to You

Rate this book
She had everything planned out, but she didn’t plan on him. If there’s one thing Olivia loves, it’s a well-organized itinerary. She has her trip from Maine to California planned down to the minute, but there’s a slight problem she didn’t account for: she has no idea how to drive the giant moving truck she ended up with. When her brother’s friend and coworker, Cam, offers to tag along and play chauffeur, it doesn’t take long for them to realize all of the ways they’re opposites. She thrives on to-do lists and careful planning; he prefers to go with the flow and see where the wind blows him. Even if that’s right into Olivia’s hotel bed – something she absolutely did not plan on, for the record. As they make their way across the country, playing tourist and pushing their trip well beyond the limits of Olivia’s itinerary, their hours spent on the road together make it hard to remember there will soon be three thousand miles between them. The closer they get to California, the clearer it becomes they both want more than the very casual, very temporary fling they agreed to. Somewhere between the little seaside town of Port Myles and the shores of Long Beach, things have changed. Cam isn’t just having fun; he’s playing for keeps. If only Olivia was easier to convince.

This was such an enjoyable and amazing little romance!
I absolutely adored Cam, he was such an amazing and well balanced male MC: sweet, funny, sexy, charismatic.
Olivia was a bit harder to enjoy because the core of her character was harder to understand and empathize with for a while, plus she's not exactly the kind of heroine I enjoy as live interest.
The story did a good job at unraveling her character and make the reader understand why she is the way she is...and even if in the end I still quite didn't understand why she was willing to go that kind of length for her brother, we're just too differently wired, it at least didn't feel like it was an unbelievable reasoning.
I really enjoyed the road trip aspect of the story and I wished it would had never ended and I could e stayed locked in that carefree bubble with them. Her brother was such a hard character to like, mostly because of what he put Liv through and his overall carelessness...the final chapters made me reconsider his character a bit, but not enough to make me like him.
Ty was an absolute joy and his cameos were one of my favorite bits of the book.
The romance was so cute but sexy) at the same time: Cam and Liv really complimented each other and I loved that she felt relaxed enough around him to drop some of her neuroses, I also loved that she was able to become his friend at first and a confidant later. They pushed each other in the best ways possible.

I’m calling it right now, this will be one of my top reads of this year! I ADORED this book 😭😭😭

It was the perfect blend of wholesome, angsty, and funny. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much!

It follows Olivia who is moving across the country, but stumbles across a major problem when the moving van she has paid for is a 20ft truck, a vehicle she isn’t able to drive on her own. With her brother living thousands of miles away, he enlists his friend, Cam, to join Olivia on her cross-country trek, turning her quick, organized trip into an unexpected adventure.

10/10 and it’s available on KU

Cam is my new favorite book boyfriend!! I loved every second of this book and every single character was so well written and thought out. Spice level is highhh 🥵 but it’s the other small moments between cam and olivia that made me fall in love with them. Highly recommend reading this and loved how relatable the characters felt!? I would read another story about cam and olivia in a heartbeat 👀🤞🏾

This book had such insane chemistry between the characters I could physically feel it, not only does the gorgeous cover catch your attention immediately, the witty banter, amazing spice and adorable love story will make you just as obsessed with this book as I am!

We meet Olivia who is starting a (reluctant) road trip to her new home in California, through a series of unfortunate (turned fortunate) events, her brother's friend Cam joins her and they immediately hit it off. I am a sucker for a cute meet cute in a love story and these two characters just clicked right off the bat. I loved their sense of humour and how their "opposite" personalities just blended so seamlessly. Their road trip is filled with both equally cute and steamy moments, all leading up to their "inevitable" goodbye.

First of all, this is one of the prettiest covers on any book I’ve read this year. Even digitally it is so so pretty.

This is the first road trip romance book I have actually enjoyed. For some reason this trope usually misses with me. It seems I have found an exception!

Olivia and Cam were both likable enough individually and definitely compatible together. I love that I didn’t have to wait 75% of the book for the characters to get together or realize they wanted more than a platonic relationship. It felt much more realistic that two adults in such close proximity would explore their attraction to one another sooner rather than later.

It was fun reading about the places they explored. I don’t know if they were places the author has visited or just researched, but I could picture all of them.

Finally, the level of spice in this one? Perfect. I think it was a great, balanced example of an emotional relationship developing in tandem with a physical relationship.

Overall, highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a light romcom that isn’t afraid to bring the 🔥!

Quick read since I left sandman in my locker. Really cute quick romance. Cam is one of my favorite male characters in any romance i have read. Nothing super suspenseful but spice was there and emotion and it was a really sweet book. Good simple romance I recommended! It’s also only been out for a week!

Cam is an angel sent from above, equal parts sweet and spicy, and I will fight ANYONE for him. I saw so much of myself in Olivia - these two were the perfect pair and I loved seeing them fall for each other during their road trip. Oliva's one liners had me rolling at times and her convos with her friends Grace and Elsie truly reminded me of some of my own friendships! I love a spicy rom com and this one 100% delivered on the spice, the romance, and the comedy.

Some of my fave quotes:
"Excellent. Awesome. I've got all the sex appeal of a broom, apparently."
"Two words: Or. Gasms."
"And then he yells, "I'm going to kill you, Cameron O'Brien. This bitch is gorgeous."
"You're worth changing plans for, Cam."

Once you pick this one up you won't want to put it down. I cant wait for the second book in the series!!

Read this if you like:
- Dual POV (SO GOOD!)
- Forced proximity
- Opposites attract
- Brother's friend
- THE SPICE

Thanks Becca for letting me be a beta reader for this beautiful book!! I cant wait to get my physical copy in the mail.

(4.5 rounded up)

This book was so well written, funny, and truthful. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Olivia and Cam. I'm a sucker for multiple POV books and had such fun going back and forth between the two of them.

The spice level is high....higher than expected but there was more to the book than just the spice.

Olivia struggled to put herself first (as we all do at times) and Cam was there for her every mile, waiting for her to realize what she really wanted on her own.

And Ty...he was my favorite!

Definitely a sweet, enjoyable read.

Rebecca Walts has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her writing is outstanding and captivating. I devoured this book!

Opposites attract ✅️
Brother's Friend ✅️
Forced Proximity ✅️
Spicyyyyy ✅️

Oliva is moving across the country and Cam was just helping out a friend... so they thought. The dual POV weaved so seamlessly as you follow along on a cross country roadtrip that has lots of fun and unexpected turn. It's such a sweet love story but don't worry it is just as spicy! I loved Cam and wanted him to get his happy ending

I absolutely loved this book. It lived up to all of my expectations.

“Just by simply looking at you, I’m reminded of all my favorite parts of home.” 🖤

If “I licked it so it’s mine” was a book then ladies and gents I introduce you to Cam and Liv!!!
Geeze Luh-wheeze y’all!!!!
This book was so much fun but did not miss the opportunity to make me sweat, swoon, and scream!

“You’re beautiful in a way that requires no effort on your part. I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t witness it for myself, the way you can wake up in the morning with your hair a mess and pillow lines across your cheek, and still be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. You nearly knock the wind out of me when I open my eyes and realize you’re there. If I could up bottle that feeling and sell it, I’d make millions.” 🖤

Liv has her life planned down to the T. She knows exactly which steps she needs to take, to get exactly where she needs to go and exactly what time she will get there.
But she didn’t plan on Cam storming into her life and wrecking her plans.
So what happens when his go with the flow attitude begins to crack the walls of her itinerary and she is forced to admit that her plans are not in fact… her plans?
Well, she just might discover that home really is where your heart is.

“I missed you before we even said goodbye.” 🖤

I didn’t want it to end but I wanted to devour every word. Becca, I loved this so much. Every single character stole my heart and I hope they never give it back! This was the best adventure ever!

“Let’s hit the road, Jack.” 🖤

4.25 stars!!

You know when you read a book at just the perfect right time, that was this book for me. I’ve been in a huge slump & something about this book just pulled me right out of it, it was so refreshing to read.

I don’t even know where to start cos i kinda loved everything a lot, like a lot a lot. First of all reading the actual road trip was so much fun?? all their little adventures and seeing them get closer & closer in each stop. i felt like i was there!!! i was thinking ‘where we going next guys’ 🤣 the vegas chapters!!!!! amazing. Ty is a wonderful menace.

The chemistry between Olivia and Cam was sizzling!!! the contrast in their personalities. Perfect! & i just loved all their interactions - Cam was the perfect book boyfriend!! he would just sit there then suddenly come out with the swooniest things ever. 😳

Halfway through reading this i realised its #1 of a series and got so excited!!! i would read about every single side character in this book i loved them all, esp Elsie, Grace, Ty & Ethan. this was the perfect small town romance where you fall in love with the small town & people in it and wanna transport yourself there.

I literally have the authors other book on my kindle ready to read!! i just loved this book a lot! excited for more!

First of all, thanks Rebecca for giving me an opportunity to read this book!

This book was a fantastic read that included a road trip from Port Myles to Long Beach. The main male character was sweet and dominant (if you know what I mean😉) - exactly the kind of hero I love reading about!

And let me tell you, this is my first time reading a book that involves a road trip and it's safe to say I wasn't disappointed! I didn't know until now that I wanted to read this type of book until I actually did!

The story follows Cam and Olivia, who meet when she's stuck in a giant truck which she can't drive by the road and Cam comes to help her who's sent by Olivia's brother because he couldn't come and end up falling in love despite the odds. I loved watching them grow closer to each other and seeing their relationship blossom. If you're a fan of romance novels, I think you'll appreciate this one.I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found myself rooting for the main characters throughout their journey.

If you love:
🛣️ Brother's best friend
🛣️ Small town
🛣️ Forced proximity
🛣️ “Good girl”
🛣️ Dual POV

You should definitely give it a try!

Olivia, a detailed planner, embarks on a cross country road trip from Maine to California. Unexpectedly, she finds herself unable to drive the moving truck. Cam, her brother's friend, steps in. Despite their evident differences, they engage in an agreed upon very casual fling. Yet as they spend hours together, emotions evolve complicating matters as they will soon be three thousand miles apart.

Cam is a go with the flow kinda guy and it was fun to see him push Liv outside of her comfort zone making memories together! I loved that he was able to see through her and encouraging her to think about herself over people pleasing. At the same time, she helped him work through his own fear. I enjoyed the banter. I thought their best friends were fab, her relationship with her mom was so sweet, and even her neighbor too!

The spice was a lot more than I anticipated. At times it felt misplaced or inner thoughts unnecessary. My group chat was 50/50 on level and comfort so just something to consider for personal preference.

As a New Englander I don’t know why anyone would ever leave so I fully understand Olivia’s battle of moving to California. they don’t have four seasons in LA and that’s just really not my journey.

The friend romance worked so well and the road trip was endearing and sweet. It had the wholesome characters of a contemporary romance but with the spice of smut.

Love to see it.

This book is so much fun! My dream is a cross country road trip and this makes me want it even more. The descriptions of all the diverse places across the country made me want to jump in a oversized vehicle and go for a drive. But my favorite parts are the descriptions of Port Myles. I love small towns that feel like home! Looking forward to the story continuing in the next book!

SO MUCH SPICE. I shouldn't have read parts of this at work because I was definitely blushing.

This book really felt like a warm hug. Cam and Olivia were characters written so perfectly for each other you almost wish they were real so they’d be able to experience that love irl.

Rebecca writes such fantastic storylines and characters it is so hard to not fall in love with them early on. I love that these two balanced each other out so well. Olivia, our organized - doesn’t go with the flow - queen. And Cam, our goofy and dependable - perfect book bf. The road trip plot gave us so much time with these two and we truly get to see all the best parts of them FALLING IN LOVE. I had a silly little smile on my face during so many parts of this book.

As Hannah Montana said you’ll always find your way back home - and Olivia did just that.

Spice was PERFECTION. Again Becca just knows how to find the perfect balance in her stories and I AM SO HERE FOR IT. Gosh, go read this. Truly you will not be disappointed, I promise.

Ps - the good girl count is a solid 13 so do with that information what you will😉

THANK YOU FOR THE ARC!!! I can’t wait to read whatever comes next✨

4.75/5 stars!!

I enjoyed this book so much! I would first like to give thanks to Rebecca for sending me the ARC! I had so much fun the past couple of days reading this book and I am honestly so sad to be done with it!!

Cam and Olivia have a place in my heart. I love Cam's character, I mean it is hard not to love him he is so sweet and funny. Olivia is absolutely amazing, I love her development throughout the story, much I think is thanks to Cam. She really grew throughout the story and I appreciate that at the end, even though I do wish she stuck in California, I am glad she decided for herself with the help of Cam's voice in her head to go back to Maine. Also, just the chemistry between the two, I love a good casual hookup turned relationship, and these two really had such strong intense chemistry between them, I am surprised they did not get together way quicker than right at the end!

I also want to give some love for Ty of course! One of my favorite side characters 100%, the three of them in Las Vegas was soo fun to read and I love that he is such a good best friend to Cam, and I just could not stop laughing whenever Ty popped up in the story. Continuing with side characters, I hope to see more of Ethan, I would love to see how things are like in California for him, and is there a possible romance between him and Grace??

The ending was one of my favorites, but I do wonder what is going on with Elsie? Why has she suddenly been unavailable on the weekends. I thought maybe it had something to do with Cam proposing to Olivia, but when she did not appear during that scene I began to wonder what could be up? But besides Elsie being MIA and acting weird, I thought the ending was cute! I love that it ended with a proposal and that Olivia is already thinking about planning her wedding!

Overall this book was very fun to read and I am so happy to have gotten the chance to read the ARC and be a part of Cam's and Olivia's road trip! One thing I wish the book had was just a little more angst, but that is only because I am a sucker for all the angst before a HEA! But! Honestly, after reading the book I would not have had it any other way!! I highly recommend this book, and I might need to pick up the physical copy when it comes out to reread it again.

First things first, I would like to MAJORLY thank the author for sending me an ARC and allowing me to have the opportunity to read this amazing book before release.

I knew from Rebecca’s debut novel, Fire and Nice, I was going to be in for a fun ride (pun intended?) with this one, but HOLY MOLY! I absolutely LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK!

What should’ve been a nerve inducing situation (traveling across the country with a person you barely know) was such a treat to experience! Olivia and Cam had the perfect amount of banter, both sweet & spicy moments that kept me so invested in the plot. I loved getting to know them as characters too, as well as reading their adventures in the various states. This book even had me wanting MORE of the third act breakup/moments, which is typically something I complain about in a book.

Let’s talk about the characters a little bit…
Olivia is my spirit animal. This character was me almost to a T and it kind of scared me with how similar we are. The way this girl has everything in her life planned to the detail was EVERYTHING. I felt majorly understood! And her wanting to accomplish certain goals in order not to let anyone else down, even if it meant letting herself down? I FELT THAT! Her love for iced coffee, Dr. Pepper, Twizzlers, and Taylor Swift were all bonuses too.

And Cam?! Where do I even start with this man?! I was not expecting this man to be the adorable yet spicy human he was. Nonetheless, I was MAJORLY here for it! His character and POV were so well written, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with him. I hope everyone else enjoys him as much as I did.

I also really loved the side characters in this book! Well, Ethan kind of made me angry for a good portion of the scenes he was in, but everyone else I enjoyed! Olivia has such a great duo of friends, and I loved the balance between personalities. I also really enjoyed Cam’s best friend, Ty! He was so funny and the Vegas scenes were some of my favorites.

In conclusion: I majorly loved this book. So much I have zero complaints about it! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Port Myles series will entail and can’t wait to learn more about these characters. I also majorly hope we get more sweet moments with Olivia and Cam in the future!

I’d usually go into the story a bit before the characters but I need to talk about Cameron Owen O’Brien. I love that he’s not a toxic male, that he’s a little forward and awkward. He’s funny and very human. I knew I loved Cam even quicker than he acknowledged he was clearly obsessed with Olivia. It was obvious he had it bad when he proposed driving her to California and he thought:

“For whatever reason, I was worried at the thought of her saying no.”

I realised that Cam was basically me in fictional male form when he created a playlist containing “approximately 46 hours of 80s hits, country, and maybe a little bit of Taylor Swift”.

Olivia is a breath of fresh air. She’s clearly type A but isn’t defined by it. She sweet and thoughtful and gets lost in those thoughts regularly. She can be dominant too and is endlessly funny. My favourite Olivia moment was:

“So I was thinking” he begins. “That’s a bit scary,” I mutter without thinking.

Okay so this book had everything I could have wanted. A road trip with close proximity (tick). Entertaining side characters, especially Ty (tick). Relatively fast pace romance (tick). Loveable characters with obvious romance (tick times infinity).

It even had the classic Twilight moment (just without the dawning realisation that one of you may not be completely human because there skin is v cold):

I lean over to turn the volume up and Olivia must have had the same thought, because we teach for it at the same time and our fingers brush.

Also he calls her baby.

Finally, Ty appreciation:

And then he yells “I’m going to kill you Cameron O’Brien. This bitch is gorgeous.”

First, thank you Becca for the opportunity to read and review TRMTY as an ARC!

You guys, this story 🥹 I’m obsessed. Olivia and Cam are literally perfect together. Olivia is a goal oriented, planning queen, people pleaser to her core. She and her brother, Ethan, have been planning to move to California since they were 14 and 17, respectively. As the time to move finally rolls around for Olivia, she ends up stuck on the side of the road in her massive moving truck. In comes Cam, Ethan’s friend from work and a man with a go with the flow personality. He helps Olivia get the truck home and then agrees to help her drive it the over 3,000 miles from Maine to Long Beach. Over the course of their trip, he convinces her to draw out their trip since neither one is in any rush to be anywhere. Over the course of about ten days, the two realize how much they truly care for one another and give into their chemistry at a honky tonk bar in rural Nebraska. The spicy scenes were SO good, but I genuinely love how much Cam cared for Olivia and wanted her to admit to herself what was going on. Being the stubborn woman she is, Liv ends up pushing him away because she’s scared to give into her feels but also to let Ethan down by not staying in California like they’ve been planning for the last ten years. When she finally admits to herself that she made a mistake, she calls him up and says “I’m coming home.” 🥹 Cam, being the incredible man he is, drives the exact same moving truck back to Long Beach from Maine to just turn it around to make it back home with Liv and his pup, Lucy, in tow. I love love love the epilogue and just this story overall.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an eARC of The Road Map to You in exchange for my honest review!

A quick and cute read about two characters who couldn’t be more different stuck in a car on a 3,000 mile long road trip. Forced proximity is always a good time so that trope gave me a lot to love throughout the book. I loved the setting and think Becca has such a beautiful way with words that I had fun while reading it. I felt like I was traveling alongside Cam and Olivia. The dual POV was a nice touch (and my preference) as we got to see the situations from both characters.

Cam and Olivia reminded me a lot of Brendan and Piper from It Happened One Summer (less ditsy lol) and I think it threw me off a bit. Unfortunately, the characters ended up feeling a bit two-dimensional to me, which was a bummer because I felt like the leads had the potential to be deeper characters.

The spice was good! Much spicer than her last book, but done in a good way in my opinion. It didn’t feel thrown in for the sake of having smut, but naturally progressed with the plot. The Vegas scene is amazing.

The ending was absolutely the best, I felt like even with some common romance themes, Becca was able to make it her own. I really enjoyed the wrap up and am a sucker for a good HEA. Overall, I would still recommend reading this one!

I always say never judge a book by its cover especially when it's gorgeous like this one and making me crave another road trip already!

This book packs the 🔥 and is available on Kindle Unlimited!

Olivia is moving from her hometown in Maine to California to live with her brother just like they'd always planned. But lately she hasn't been feeling right about the 3k mile move and her uneasiness grows when the rental company only has a 20 foot truck left available. The heck she's driving that beast across the United States alone.

Her brother, unable to get off work to help her, sends a work colleague/friend, Cam O'Brien, to the rescue to drive the truck and help her move cross country. He convinces her to not drive straight through and to drag the trip out stopping along the way to sight see.

This is a sorta-insta love, slow burn romance, one MC a go-with-the-flow-er and the other MC is an OCD-organizer-including- color coding-and-laminating, packed with fun sexy banter the entire book that will have you grinning and at times maybe even blushing.

Cam is a heart throb, sweet and sexy and I sort of kept picturing him the same as I pictured Sean from The Ravenhood 👀

I got tons of fall-ish vibes too while reading it so definetly add to your TBR and reading it in your leggings/hoodies/ugs/beanies would be perfect 👌

I loved everything about this book. I would love to go on a cross country road trip. That’s not possible right now so I appreciate the research work it took to make this road trip feel so realistic. I traveled vicariously through them.

Olivia and Cam were just so sweet. Cam was so thoughtful and patient and ughhhh. Olivia tried to push him away and he wouldn’t let her. He truly saw her and her feelings and wanted her to talk about it but never pushed too far. I felt proud of Olivia for the growth she had and finally making a decision for herself.

They had so many cute and sweet moments. I loved some of the language and one liners in the book. Like calling each other heathen or saying let’s hit the road Jack. Just cute, relatable vibes all around.

Also, loved allll the side characters and hoping we get books about some of them!

i was fortunate enough to get an arc of this book and i enjoyed it! i liked the story line and the tropes a lot. i relate a lot to olivia because i too love a good plan lol so loved her. i liked cam for the most part but i wish that the book played into more of his player reputation and i wish he was a little bit more grumpy in the beginning. he supposedly is a very hook up kind of person and the way he acted didn’t really seem like he was. it would have been nice to see more of this grumpy player side so olivia could be the one to soften him up and change his ways so to speak. but i did like how sweet cam was and how he really challenged olivia and allowed her to open up. it was fun seeing them explore new places while exploring their relationship and i loved the spice 🤭 overall it was good and i would recommend!!
