The hideous and genocidal Karaak are closing in on survivors at the Lilacron colony, and once it falls, Earth will be the next target.
Will Ryder and his small crew are the only ones who can save them.
Doing so will mean finding the one world that was able to resist the Karaak and convincing their leaders to share the secret of their success, but that world paid a heavy price for driving back the Karaak and their willingness to help others will come at an equally high price.
Time is running out, tensions are running high, and death stalks the stars.
I really enjoyed these books. The story line is great. And I love the main characters. I like their interactions with each other. I thought there was only supposed to be 4 books in this series. But the way this ended it was quite a cliffhanger. So I hope the series will continue.
Overall I like the story, the series of books, is written well Gramar and spelling is right on.
I don't like some of the choices that the main character makes, I just personally have a more of a loot mentality when it comes to defeating enemies. I prefer stories for character that recover technology and loot, or get money out of situations after defeating the bad guy. Especially in a story where you have a great many people needing possible emergency transport and you take out the crew of a slave ship that could presumably carry hundreds if not thousands but you blow it up instead of capturing it, even just capturing it and selling it would have been a better choice than blowing it up.

The author must be like 14 or 15. I found myself skipping dozens of pages knowing I was missing nothing of importance. Dialogue is childish as is the relationship between Will and Rayne. If I had to pay I would have stopped after book 2. I will continue on to book 5. I would suggest to the author to read some of the old ScFi classics by Heinlein, Azimov, and Anderson. Some of the ebook authors like Blanton and Chaney. The premise of the story has merit but the writing is juvenile at best. I think, maybe with time, the author will mature. I hope so.
Well, that was certainly an exciting read all the way through. I'm curious to see this weapon that will save everyone. It is good to remember that this is a good story, so it doesn't have to be factual. Is it far-fetched? Well, of course it is! That is why I enjoy reading the sci-fi books. Well, I don't particularly love the fighting, gory parts but I can skip over some of that. 😁 I'm just saying that if you want to be entertained, grab this series and comfy place to sit, and proceed to be just that, entertained.
Book 4 ends in a cliff hanger...I hate that! It's not like the author doesn't know what is going to happen next...sigh, anyhow, aside from the annoying cliffhanger, I would say that Will is still making new friends and the romance keeps getting hotter and hotter. On to the next book!
Another roaring space adventure with battles and drama and treachery. Radiation fields and slave ships. Is it realistic that he killed 4 ships, hundreds of slavers and walked away? Nano bots are the answer which makes Will Superman. Anyway it was fun so on to the next one
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series but I am sorely disappointed that there are no more books to finish the story. It is the same with I bought a spaceship, a great story that leaves you hanging.
Just finished reading book 4 in this series and can't wait for the next one which I hope will be soon. This is a great series with lots of action and once you start you have to read until you finish the last one.
Enjoyed the story and the characters. Moved along nicely and was interesting. would recommend to all scfi fans. Just Wish I didn't have to always wait for the next book in the series.
You are led through the story, anticipating exciting action. Then you discover other challenges expecting an answer, and that leads to another challenge. Frustrating and exciting that keeps you hooked. Enjoy.
A good book: pure escapism for the mind. If you're new to the series, start with book one. I won't bore you with details, but if you enjoy Sci-Fi space adventures, with plenty of first-contact elements, you should enjoy this series.
