From the dynamic duo, Cheri Marie and LB Russell, comes Until Maisie, an angsty, second chance, contemporary romance in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Happily Ever Alpha Series.
Arrogant. Self-Centered. Sexy as Sin.
Sawyer Prescott was my first love, but he’s far from the boy I fell for ten years ago. I never thought I’d see him again after my mother whisked me away to Florida - but the universe has a way of teaching you to expect the unexpected. After moving back to Tennessee and taking a job at Beasts vet clinic, I received my first house call - to Prescott Ranch.
Maisie Warner was the girl I never expected to fall for - but I did. Then, just like that she was gone. Now, she’s standing in my barn as the new vet at Beasts, looking as beautiful as ever. She was off limits then and should be off limits now, given the problems I’ve inherited since moving home. My father's gambling knows no bounds and has become a problem. Now I'm fighting for the ranch, my life and my fathers legacy.
With so much at stake and danger lurking in the shadows - is love worth the risk of losing it all?
Until Maisie is part of Aurora Rose Reynolds' Happily Ever Alpha World. If you loved Until July from Aurora Rose Reynolds, then you will want to read Until Maisie.
Cheri Marie is an author, reader, event organizer and most importantly a fur-mama. She is a Florida girl, currently residing in beautiful North Carolina. A lover of animals, it’s no surprise that Cheri has what some would call, a zoo of animals. When she isn't writing stories that transport you to another world, or wearing one of her many hats, she enjoys photography and music. Also on her down time, she enjoys spending a day on the water, fishing with her brothers.
This did not work for me. I feel like I'm in Groundhog Day with the Happily Ever Alpha series because I have rarely found one that I have really enjoyed and yet I keep coming back for more of the same , always in hopeful anticipation. If you have read some of my reviews, you will know how much I adore Aurora Rose Reynolds work. Until November is one of my top 5 books of all time and I re read it at least twice a year. I love the whole series and the spin off novels, Until Him / Her.
With the exception of two books, this series has really not captured my heart. ARR writes the 'Boom' effect of insta love and does it so very well. The drama , the angst , the OW/OM shenanigans is all done beautifully but the guest authors who write books in the Until world, just can't match her.
In Until Maisie , it was so rushed and chaotic. This was a second chance romance with a 10 year separation. Maisie, (26) the heroine was sweet and kind to others then was screaming and dropping F-bombs at the Hero. She was reserved and mellow with most but did a 360 with the Hero. I'm not one who likes to pigeonhole the characters (I love strong character development) but Maisie gave me whiplash. The two 'baddies' were almost cartoonish in their nefarious activities and demeanour. Sawyer (28), the Hero , was ok. He is ex military and is trying to sort things out on his family ranch after the death of his father.
Then there was Wes. Wes is the Hero from Until July and he is pretty badass. I am a huge fan. In this book however he featured as the person who consistently comes to the rescue like some kind of Harley riding , gun toting , law evading equivalent of the Fairy Godmother. I felt like he was the Hero rather than Sawyer. (To be clear , Wes is VERY much July's man and there are no triangles going on here - it's just that in my eyes , Wes was more heroic than the Hero....)
The dialogue in this novel was really stilted and just sounded all off in my head. I am not a fan of this author's writing style. Ah well. I will still keep trying these books. I am still optimistic that I will find some that measure up. This series is largely available on KU so it isn't a big deal if it doesn't work out as hoped.
This is just my opinion and no doubt there will be lots of love from others for this book - we all read a different book after all.
HEA? Yes Cheating? Not between the H/h - the heroine goes on a date with another guy and they have a kiss but that is it. She does get it on with Sawyer whilst still on date with the OM.
There was something about Until Maisie that didn’t work for me.
Maisie Warner is moving back to Tennessee after being pulled away from it by her toxic mother. She had a crush on Sawyer Prescott but he was older and this attraction was never acted on until the day she had to leave. The story itself is engaging and pulls you in, but I didn’t connect with the characters on a level that I wanted to. I am a mood reader, so I don’t know if it is the fact that I am in a bit of a book slump or I am not connecting with the way the authors are writing this story.
It has those connections that you need to the Until World itself. Maisie works for July at the vet clinic, and Sawyer lived in the town until he went into the service. It has the elements of suspense that I want in an Until book but it felt a little off to me. The structure of the story is well done, and it is a story I will come back to once I am out of my slump to see if it reads differently. Overall, I enjoyed the story and hope you do as well.
I wanted to give this book more stars, but I couldn't do it. The story was good, but there were timetable issues, punctuation issues, and formatting issues that were way too obvious for me to ignore.
I've enjoyed almost all of the books in this HEA world, but this one left me disappointed.
Another brilliant addition to the Happily Ever After series, a second chance romance that had it all, swoon, suspense and twists and turns to keep you on your toes, Maisie and Sawyer are sure to sweep you off your feet, adding the suspense element just made this book an even more compelling read, when Maisie's mother uprooted her from Tennessee 10 years ago, she lost not only her dad but also the boy she had a secret crush on, a parting kiss has never been forgotten, but now both Maisie and Sawyer are back home and the chemistry is still as strong, unfortunately, not everyone is happy about the growing bond these is being forged between the two and will stop at nothing to ensure they don't get HEA Until Maisie will keep you guessing and gasping until the end.
This is another wonderful addition to this series. This is Sawyer and Maisie’s journey. It has been 10-years since these two last saw each other, and now fate has destined them to cross paths again. Sawyer is running the family ranch, and Maisie is a vet who is called out. The chemistry between these two is intense, and they compliment each other perfectly. This is a well written story which has angst, family, suspense, twists, danger, intrigue, friendships, second chances, emotions, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from these talented author’s whose work I highly recommend.
I am always happy to return to the Mayson family and friends! Sawyer and Maisie fit into this world flawlessly. I don’t typically favor second chance romances but this is not your average second chance romance. Sawyer and Maisie’s boom fits right in with any of the Mayson’s stories! And what a bonus that we got to visit with Wes and July and some of their friends. Loved it!
Sawyer and Maisie are a great addition to the Happily Ever Alpha World. Sawyer is sexy and sweet. Maisie is kind and beautiful. Together they are nothing short of wonderful.
Full of suspense, mystery, and love. These two will keep you on your toes, rooting for their , "HEA". A great second chance romance, to say the least. Loved it!
This was a quick and good read. There are unanswered questions, some errors and incinsistencies... which drop it from a 5 to a 3.5. I like the author's writing style, and the story itself was good.
Ten years ago Maisie was forced to leave her hometown & the boy she wanted because her mom was moving her to Florida. Now she’s a vet and moved back to her hometown and to be closer to her dad. What she didn’t expect was to run into him, the boy she always wanted; Sawyer Prescott.
Sawyer is only back in town because his father is dead and now he has to take over his family ranch. His biggest regret is letting Maisie go and now that they are both back, he’s going to get the girl.
But Sawyer’s daddy left him a debt he needs to take care of & Maisie has her sights set on a different man. Can Sawyer get his girl? & what happens when Maisie gets put in the middle of the two men’s feud..
📚 Small Town Romance 📚 Second Chance 📚 Childhood Friends 📚 Suspense 📚 Insta Love 📚 Dual POV
This was my first Cheri Marie book & it read so easy! I loved how fast paced it was and the added suspense. I did not see the criminal coming! So good!! & the love story that we got between Maisie & Sawyer, swoooning. I’m so excited to meet her in September @ Authors in the Steel City & keep reading her work! 🤩
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Maisie Warner & Sawyer Prescott. Ready for a roller-coaster you won't want to get off of. This book will take you on one. Maisie & Sawyer knew each other years ago over the last 10 they have been separated by people who should have wanted more for them than themselves. Now that they're back the two people who end up helping them the most happen to be July & Wes. Can these two find a HEA or will it be like 10 years earlier and a very painful separation?
Awesome story by this author. Will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
A fun book to read. I don't know why I choose it. It was in my library and I decided to read it. It is more of a 'chick' book but it was well written and an interesting plot.
It is about Maisie. When she was 16, her parents were divorced and her mother took her from Tennessee to Florida. Before they left, Sawyer, her big crush, gives her a deep kiss. They both dream about them for 10 years. Sawyer goes into the Marines and Maisie becomes a veterinarian. Maisie goes back to her hometown to join a practice run by one of her high school friends. That sets up Maisie and Sawyer's reunion. It is not smooth. Old girl friends, new boyfriends cause many battles. Finally they get together and start a family.
Sawyer & Maisie: Triggers: stalking, assault, gambling, extortion, kidnapping. Not a total boom I don't believe as the two knew each other growing up. Maisie was 16 with a crush and Sawyer was 19 who tried to keep his distance because of her age. But when she tells him that she's moving, he makes a move. The story then picks up 10 years later with both characters moving back to town. Sawyer to help take care of the family ranch and Maisie, now a veterinarian working with July. Drama ensues as Sawyer tries to clean up the family ranch and Maisie gets involved with an illegal gambler. The story is interesting, mysterious and downright hot. July, Wes and the rest of the MC are right there supporting both characters throughout the story. And there's definitely a plot twist… a little 🤏🏾 one.
It’s been a decade since Maisie had to leave her hometown and the boy who stole her teenage heart. When she returned home she wasn’t sure if Sawyer would still be there and she definitely wasn’t prepared for the events that would unfold because of their feelings for each other.
Between family and the ranch Sawyer is trying to balance a lot of responsibilities. When Maisie comes back into his life the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever and he isn’t about to let her walk away a second time.
A heartwarming romance, a little intrigue and a few surprises as time nor distance has diminished the feelings between Maisie and Sawyer.
I love a good second chance romance and this one didn’t disappoint. This is Sawyer and Maisie’s journey and I really enjoyed it. These two have been part for years well 10 to be exact and they come face to face after all those years. Only to feel that what they feel is stronger than ever. Will they let the past go or will it stop them from having a second chance together? Well grab the book and find out you won’t want to miss it. It is heartwarming and the author gives is enough surprises to keep us engaged. Recons you read this book.
I love this series and enjoy how prior characters make an appearance as well. Maisie was in love with Sawyer when she was 15 but then moved. After she’s all grown up and finished college it’s time to return to her hometown. She knew she would run into Sawyer but she wasn’t ready for the attraction to still be there. Sawyer felt the “Boom”! Another must read!
I enjoyed the book until I got to Epilogue 1 and realized it was exactly the same as the last chapter of the book. I also was annoyed that it always is the man who gets threatened with bodily harm by friends and family - you do realize that men can get hurt also, right???!!! I was also wondering why he never told Maisie that her mother told his parents that he took advantage of Maisie which led to him getting kicked out of his home and estrangement of his parents.
I absolutely loved this book. It has everything I want. And also kept me guessing. I couldn't put book down once started.
I loved Maisie and Sawyer together, they've known each other for years. But now is only when they have their chance. They both give each other peace and help each other out.
The storyline is a little cliche but all in all it’s a decent book. Maise is rather hateful I think. I’m sure the author was trying to make her sassy but…it doesn’t work. Sawyer is a typical alpha broken male. The writing just didn’t flow as far as I was concerned and the first epilogue appears twice in the book.
I loved UNTIL JULY so I absolutely had to read this book. Maisie was a little immature going in to it, but she came clean about it. They decided they were better together, unfortunately they had outsiders trying to get in. With the help of July and Wes/ MC team, they were able to get their own HEA
Sawyer has been gone for far too long when he needs to return home after his father's passing. He is trying to make things better. Maisie is coming back to TN after 10 years. She is a vet and will be working with July. Is she ready to face her first kiss? Will things be the same? These two have a little bit to fight for their Boom. Love the ending.
Sawyer and Maisie get a second chance of love. With both moving back to Tennessee and rekindling an old flame and a couple of hurdles along the way! Got a Mayson family fix by having Wes and July, Z and Kayan in the book.
Fits right into ARR’s boom world. Plenty of romance, hard headed alpha men and drama. Good to catch up with Wes and July again too. There are 2 copies of epilogue one in my book but that’s not a problem.
I struggled with this one. It started when Maisie yelled at Sawyer for not kissing her sooner. Um, excuse me, she was 16 freaking years old when that happened. I couldn’t get past that point to get into the story and enjoy it.
