Life is sweeter when a hot pot of tea and a lovely talk of faith are shared between a mother and her daughter! From author and podcast host Sally Clarkson comes this keepsake guide filled with simple moments that create lasting heart-connections centered on friendship and discipleship.
When you prioritize this sacred work of fellowshipping with your family, you’ll also grow in love and wonder for the God who has woven your shared stories into the tapestry of His big-picture plan. Within these beautiful pages, you’ll find themed teas and interactive offerings to help you gently guide and invest in your daughter over cozy treats and thoughtful discussions about seasons of faith, godly womanhood, and more.
Modeling your faith becomes mentoring her heart when you welcome open conversation, earnest listening, and sincere prayer. Teatime Discipleship for Mothers and Daughters will help you steep together in Scripture as you make meaningful time for God and for each other.
From working on college campuses, to sharing the Gospel behind the Iron Curtain as a missionary, traveling around the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia to speak on discipleship, Sally Clarkson has tenaciously sought after God's kingdom, and has used her ministry to encourage others to do the same. From her best-selling books such as Own Your Life, Desperate (with Sarah Mae), and her latest, The Lifegiving Home, Sally has shared from her heart and home about the value of motherhood and the potential for home to cultivate life, love, and faith. In 1995, She and her husband Clay founded Whole Heart Ministries, which has encouraged thousands of families around the world in discipling their children
5 star content, clunky formatting. The bulk of this book is really more like a tea-time “curriculum” or study guide rather than a book that you would just read. If you can overlook the disjointed formatting of this book, there are many wonderful nuggets of wisdom to be had!
This book is so sweet!!! The actual reading length is short, and then there are tailored tea time discipleship devotionals alongside recipes and other sweet ideas. I read it quickly and decided I’ll use the devotionals throughout the school year with my daughters. I think it’ll be a very sweet addition to our rhythms.
Such a lovely book for Christian parents and grandparents. Full of encouragement and beautiful ideas to intentionally cultivate relationships and share your faith with your children.
If you are a mother looking to connect with and disciple your daughter, then this beautiful book is for you! My husband saw this book and said, "Wow, if ever a book was written specifically for you, this would be it. Tea parties and daughters!" It's true that as a mother of 4 daughters there are lots of tea parties happening in our house. This book is a gorgeous resource that helps you build a deeper relationship with your daughter while helping you learn how to intentionally use your special times together to answer God's call to disciple our children.
"Building a friendship with your daughter and establishing the privilege of having a mentoring influence on her life doesn't just happen. It is a gift, but it isn't one dropped into our laps to be received. I have come to understand that this discipleship connection with our children is something we craft and provide, a work and an art we make space for again and again, a priority we choose amid the demands of life." p. 26
The book has a few chapters introducing the concept of tea time discipleship and the purpose for it. It includes 6 tea parties that are beautifully laid out with an intro to read with your daughter, a Bible story about a woman of Scripture and her godly character, discussion questions about the story, scripture passages to read, blessing your daughter by sharing what you witness in her life, a mother's prayer and a daughter's prayer. In addition to this each themed tea includes ideas for treats, tea, table decorations, etc. I will absolutely be using these ideas with my girls as they grow.
One of my favorite things about Sally is that when I read her books I feel so inspired to be intentional with my words as I mother these precious little souls. I always walk away in awe of the privilege of motherhood that God has entrusted me with. I feel encouraged and challenged to use the beauty and creativity of teatime to disciple my daughters and connect deeply with them as they grow. What a blessing!
This short, sweet book starts with three chapters giving the inspiration, or the why, if you will, and the "how" of what Sally calls "Teatime Discipleship". The latter 6 chapters then outline 6 curated tea times for a mother to have with her daughter (or spiritual daughter!), each complete with a unique tea recipe, as well as one sweet and one savory recipe per chapter. There are scripted prayers included, as well as a brief devotional for each, based on topics such as "light and hope" or "purpose and confidence". There are question prompts for discussion as well as stories from Sally's life. Each "tea time" is steeped in Scripture. There are also ideas for how to make the time together even more special. Two of the "tea times" are designated for specific times of the year - the daughter's birthday, and around Christmas. I have 3 daughters and I think they will *relish* the idea of having a personal tea party with me several times a year. I look forward to going through this book with them and making spending individual time with them a priority.
I did not actually read all of it, but definitely not my favorite Sally Clarkson book😕. The introductory chapters were very encouraging, but the rest of the book is basically scripted teetimes to have with your children. Not my thing at all. I mean teatime, yes! But scripted discussions and prayers, could not do. Yes, you could take the ideas as a jumping off point probably, but not at all interesting to me.
Cute and cozy.
I read this book with the teen girls from my discipleship group in mind. It has inspired me with ideas for discipleship and how to incorporate deeper conversations into sharing a cup of a steaming beverage - which, let's be honest, all teen girls love!!!
Tea scripture, discussion time and character trait lessons. This book lays the groundwork for leaving a legacy of love...I started with my second grade daughter, but stopped and will pick up when she is a bit older so as to have a greater depth of conversation.
