Claire Woods was completely alluring-- and out of Tag Campbell's reach. But when she needed him, he saved her. She touched raw places inside him, making him ache and crave things he'd thought he'd given up. What would it be like to have her waiting... every night... for him? Tag Campbell haunted her. Like a pirate in tight denim, he captured her and declared his love in heated whispers. Claire had to make the decision of a lifetime-- a quiet role in proper society or a wild, loving adventure with a man who was so wrong... but oh, so right.

I realized I’d read this one before when I got into it, but it’s a goodie. Hero’s a “bad boy”, raised on the wrong side of the tracks, acknowledged by his father as an adult, then hiding from bad guys who tried to kill him. He rescues the heroine, a “good girl” who’s engaged to her sister’s ex-fiance, from enemies of his when she’s out driving to get away from a scene between her fiancé and her sister. Flames go up when they get together, she gives in to the attraction, but has to return to her family. Things blow up in both their faces, eventual happy ending, very good story.
It seems somewhat unsporting to critique a romance based on a romantic fantasy for showing a completely unrealistic relationship, based--aside from fantasy--on what appears to be male bitterness and female skittishness--but that's never stopped me.
