از اونجایی که کتاب اساطیر یونان این مجموعه رو هم خوندم هنوز معتقدم تصویرسازی رنگی و دلنشینشون برای کسی که میخواد یه تصور کلی داشته باشه از اساطیر خیلی بدرد بخور و خوبه. خلاصه حوصله سر بر نیست.
یه چیزی که اساطیر نورس رو خاص میکنه داشتن قابلیت تفاسیر مختلفشونه. حس میکردم نویسنده بخواد یه جاهایی نظر خودشو بیاره تو قالب داستان ولی خیلی شدید نبود که اذیت کنه و کلا ماجرا عوض شه.
آخرم اگه منو دیدین و میخواستین درباره اساطیر نورس صحبت کنین بدونین خیلی خوشحال میشم ولی نباید انتظار داشته باشین چیزی رو درست تلفظ کنم بنیتنادنیبتدرتب خیلی اوضاعم خرابه.

শুধু ইলাস্ট্রেশন এর জন্যই চার তারকা। এই বইয়ের ইলাস্ট্রেশনগুলো এক কথায় অসাধারণ। রঙচঙে পাতায় ভর করে হারিয়ে যান ওডিন,থর,লোকিদের দুনিয়ায়।

As soon as I heard this second installment to these books was coming out I had to preorder it. The art, just like in Greek Myths, was wonderful and perfectly fit the different settings, creatures, figures and more. I felt like this was a really good selection of stories from Norse mythology that will give the overall scope of the gods and their tales. I liked that the stories were separated by more informational sections specifically about the gods, goddesses and other figures. This is in a great format for younger readers to digest either in a single setting, or here and there.

Mýty vo všeobecnosti zbožňujem v každej podobe. Fascinuje ma to čarovno, nadprirodzený svet a dokonalé postavy.
Vďaka tejto knihe som si mohla pocestovať na chladný sever, k drsným bojovníkom a magickým bytostiam. Priznám sa, že kto vie aké vedomosti o mýtoch zo severu som nemala. Jasné, Odin, Thor, či Loki sú azda známi každému. Ale čo ďalej? Táto kniha mi bola skvelým sprievodcom a ako pre nováčika v orientovaní ideálna. Veľmi mi pomohlo, že mýty boli chronologicky usporiadané a aj vďaka prekrásnym ilustráciam a jednoduchému textu sa mi postavy neplietli. Dej som hltala vďaka pútavému obsahu a moja radosť z nových vedomostí a vizuálneho zážitku rástla každou prelistovanou stranou.
Kniha je jeden veľký skvost pre veľkých aj malých čitateľov, takže sa v rodinnej knižnici určite nestratí a ja celú edíciu vrelo odporúčam, aj po obsahovej a rovnako aj vizuálnej časti. Úžasná, skvelá, čarovná.

Krásne ilustrované vydanie najznámejších severských mýtov. Predstavuje ich svet, bohov, príbehy a rôzne stvorenia. Ak už o severskej mytológii čo-to tušíte, veľa nového tam nenájdete. Skôr vhodné pre tých, čo sa chcú do sveta severských bohov len ponoriť. Ale nádherné ilustrácie z knihy urobili potešenie aj pre znalcov. Severská mytológia vie byť niekedy mätúca, ale myslím že sa knihe podarilo zachytiť základ. Trošku ma rozrušovali časté chyby (niekedy boli napríklad zamenené mená bohov), ale aj tak si myslím, že kniha poteší každého fanúšika mytológie.

Neviem, ako to máte vy, no ja sa v severskej mytológii absolútne nevyznám. Mená ako Odin, Loki či Freya mi niečo matne hovorili, no tam sa moje znalosti aj končili. Preto keď vydavateľstvo Slovart prišlo s nádherne ilustrovanou knihou plnou rozmanitých mytologických postáv zo severu, moja zvedavosť ma prinútila siahnuť po nej a konečne si rozšíriť obzory.
Kniha je písaná jednoducho a prehľadne, striedajú sa v nej plynulé príbehy s informatívnymi časťami o postavách, ktoré zohrali významnú rolu. Toto členenie je podľa mňa šikovne vymyslené, pretože fakty, ktoré sa dočítate, máte následne možnosť vidieť zakomponované v deji, a teda sú aj lepšie zapamätateľné. Severské mýty sú tak skvelou voľbou nielen pre mladých, zvedavých čitateľov, ale aj pre neznalcov, ako som ja.
Čo sa mi však na knihe páčilo najviac, a čo z nej robí aj klenot mojej knižnice, je štýl kresby, ktorý sa podľa mňa perfektne hodí k tomuto typu rozprávania. Počas čítania mi príbehy ožívali priamo pred očami a aspoň na pár okamihov som mala možnosť ocitnúť sa po boku mocných bohov a všakovakých bájnych tvorov. Na severe, priamo uprostred drsnej prírody, na nekonečných mrazivých pláňach, či na vrcholkoch zasnežených hôr.
Knihu vám odporúčam ako hodnotný, zberateľský kúsok, najmä však milovníkom mytológie, či už gréckej alebo severskej. Ja už teraz viem, že svoju zbierku doplním aj o predošlú časť z tejto série.

Die Wikinger sind auch heute noch faszinierend. Und hier haben wir ein Buch, das Licht in ihre Welt und die Legenden, die dazu gehören, bringt. Auf den Seiten dieses Buches konnte ich so viele interessante Fakten über jahrhundertealte Legenden und Gottheiten entdecken und mich in den Inhalt verlieben, der mich von Anfang bis Ende fasziniert. Auch mein kleiner Bücherwurm liebte diese Enzyklopädie und zeigte ein echtes Interesse an der Welt der Wikinger und ihrer legendären Lebensweise.
Meine Meinung:
Menschen haben schon immer Geschichten geliebt und ich bin da keine Ausnahme. Ich liebe es, meine Tochter mit Geschichten aus der ganzen Welt aufzuziehen, auch über die Menschen im Norden, die wir alle als Wikinger kennen. DK hat bei der Zusammenstellung eines Buches über die nordischen Mythen großartige Arbeit geleistet, und ich applaudiere dem Autor dafür, dass er sowohl mich als auch meinen kleinen Bücherwurm in ein faszinierendes Buch voller Magie, Geheimnisse und Abenteuer eingeführt hat. Das Buch ist so aufgebaut, dass es eine Einführung zu den Wikingern und ihren Mythen bietet, gefolgt von verschiedenen Gottheiten und anderen Kreaturen.
Der Text ist lang genug, um das Interesse junger Kinder zu wecken, und ich finde, der Autor hat genau die Informationen ausgewählt, die sie vermitteln will. Wie immer sind die Illustrationen beeindruckend und lassen die Götter und anderen Kreaturen fast real erscheinen. Wir erfahren etwas über die Sonne und den Mond, Asgard, Odin und Thor, die dank der Filme bereits jeder kennt. Auf über 140 Seiten wird in diesem Buch dem jungen Leser die nordische Mythologie nähergebracht. In meinen Augen ist das Besondere an diesem Buch, dass es sehr umfassend die Mythologie beschreibt. Es werden nämlich nicht nur die Abenteuer der bekannten (und weniger bekannten) Götter nacherzählt, sondern der Autor wirft auch einen Blick auf die Gesamtheit der nordischen Welt.
Wie stellten sich die Wikinger den Aufstieg und den Untergang der Welt vor? Was war der Anfang und was das Ende? Vieles dürfte dem Leser bekannt sein, vor allem, weil einige Figuren, im Marvel-Universum missbraucht werden. Es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn der Leser aus allen Wolken fällt, wenn er liest, was es mit Loki und Thor wirklich auf sich hat.
Die Mythen haben ihren Ursprung weit in der Vergangenheit und wurden seit dem 13. Jahrhundert immer wieder in den unterschiedlichsten Formen aufgeschrieben. Es gibt also keine »Originalversion« von den Mythen, wobei der rote Faden durchaus bei jeder Erzählung gleich bleibt. Das ist auch beim Autor Matt Ralphs der Fall, der die Geschichten auf das Wesentliche runterbricht und in ein kindgerechtes Gewand steckt. Zusätzlich mit den schönen Zeichnungen ergibt sich ein rundes Bild der nordischen Mythologie.
Neben den Geschichten rund um die Götter werden selbige auch jeweils vorgestellt. Dabei werden die wesentlichen Züge gezeigt und was die jeweilige Gottheit ausmacht.

Selten habe ich ein derart umfassendes Buch über die nordische Mythologie gelesen, das Kinder als Zielgruppe hat. Klar, die Mythologie ist wenig pädagogisch wertvoll, aber es hat schon was, wenn die Kinder die tatsächlichen Hintergründe der Gottheiten kennen, zumal der Autor viele Grausamkeiten etwas entschärft hat. Von uns erhält das Buch eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung.

Musím povedať, že som trochu sklamaná. Grécke mýty boli rozhodne lepšie a menej chaotické.
Na jednu stranu chápem, že Severské mýty nie sú až tak zdokumentované, ten svet je celkovo zložitejší a názvy pre nás zložitejšie, keď to porovnáme s gréckou mytológiou. No práve preto, že je to detská kniha, som čakala, že mi to proste dá jednoduchý prierez severskou mytológiou, vďaka čomu pochytím aspoň taé základy a naláka ma kniha na ďalšie diela. Nestalo sa tak.
Najviac čo ma však zarazilo bolo to, že na konci máte vysvetlené svety a jednotlivých bohov pokope a proste také základné vysvetlivky, ktoré nechápem, prečo boli na konci. Presne toto info mi chýbalo celú knihu, bola som úplne stratená z tých svetov a názvov, a až na konci som sa dozvedela čo to viac, keď mi to už bolo prd platné. Proste wtf.
Ešte jednu vec spomeniem, čo mi nedá aj napriek tomu, že som prekladateľka a viem aký je proces vydania knihy, koľko čítaní to chce a aj napriek tomu tam tam môžete nechať preklepy. No očakávala by som, že keď je to detská kniha s mega veľkými písmenkami a miliardov ilustrácii, že tam proste nebudú chyby ako totálne zle slovosledy, ktoré nedávali zmysel.
Každopádne, je to rýchle čítanie, pekná kniha, ktorá bude pre tých, ktorí severskú mytológiu poznajú milý dodatok, no na rozdiel od Gréckych mýtoch, nepríde mi to ako super úvod do severskej mytológie pre niekoho ako ja - kto o tom nemá ani páru. Fakt som bola miestami stratená.
Na jednu stranu chápem, že Severské mýty nie sú až tak zdokumentované, ten svet je celkovo zložitejší a názvy pre nás zložitejšie, keď to porovnáme s gréckou mytológiou. No práve preto, že je to detská kniha, som čakala, že mi to proste dá jednoduchý prierez severskou mytológiou, vďaka čomu pochytím aspoň taé základy a naláka ma kniha na ďalšie diela. Nestalo sa tak.
Najviac čo ma však zarazilo bolo to, že na konci máte vysvetlené svety a jednotlivých bohov pokope a proste také základné vysvetlivky, ktoré nechápem, prečo boli na konci. Presne toto info mi chýbalo celú knihu, bola som úplne stratená z tých svetov a názvov, a až na konci som sa dozvedela čo to viac, keď mi to už bolo prd platné. Proste wtf.
Ešte jednu vec spomeniem, čo mi nedá aj napriek tomu, že som prekladateľka a viem aký je proces vydania knihy, koľko čítaní to chce a aj napriek tomu tam tam môžete nechať preklepy. No očakávala by som, že keď je to detská kniha s mega veľkými písmenkami a miliardov ilustrácii, že tam proste nebudú chyby ako totálne zle slovosledy, ktoré nedávali zmysel.
Každopádne, je to rýchle čítanie, pekná kniha, ktorá bude pre tých, ktorí severskú mytológiu poznajú milý dodatok, no na rozdiel od Gréckych mýtoch, nepríde mi to ako super úvod do severskej mytológie pre niekoho ako ja - kto o tom nemá ani páru. Fakt som bola miestami stratená.

Neodporúčam : v knihe je veľa informácii o severskej mytológii, ale stále sú to také základy. Neodporúčam teda knihu už skúsenejším priebojníkom severskej mytológie, ktorí by chceli ísť viac do hĺbky .
Po Gréckych mýtoch, ktoré boli úžasné nie len vizuálne, ale aj obsahovo tu máme ďalšiu časť - Severské mýty.
Tento krát sa pozrieme do dávnych vikingských príbehov plných neľútostných bohov, bojovníkov, hrdinov, ale aj príšer. To čo vás ale na knihe zaujme nie sú iba príbehy, ale aj samotné spracovanie. Ani v tejto časti nechýbajú dychberúce ilustrácie, ktoré nadchnú ako deti, tak aj dospelých. Začiatok sveta a jeho koniec, mapy, lokácie, vysvetlivky severských pojmov a rôzne doplňujúce informácie o bohoch je len kúsok toho, čo v knihe nájdete.

A great all-ages book that retells the Prose Edda with a level of knowledge that should be commended.
It would be a welcome addition to a classroom, but teachers should be aware that some of the tales deal with violence and torture, albeit through a very child-friendly art style. It is maybe better utilised as a book to read with children, where discretion can be made as to which stories to tell, with opportunities to explain certain elements. This is where the book struggles in finding an audience. Its art style and size denotes it being for younger readers, but its themes, language and depth suggests it is aimed at a slight older, even teenage, audience. But on top of this, the thesis by the author that the Norse represented their flawed humanity through their creation myths moreso than other creation myths is one that a teenage audience might not be able to conceptualise.
Overall though, it is a great book that succeeds in what it sets out to do.

Najviac milujem mytológiu severskú. Úplne ma fascinujú tie príbehy, božstvá aj množstvo mytologických bytostí.
Severskú mytológiu som už raz čítala, takže v tejto ilustrovanej verzii som sa veľa nového nedozvedela, zato mi srdiečko zahrievali ilustrácie ktoré mi v týchto vydaniach tak veľmi lahodia.
Úplne najviac sa mi páčil príbeh o vzniku slnka a mesiaca a postavy ako Loki, Fenryr či Heindall alebo Thor. Nemohla som si pomôcť a všímala som si, ako perfketne sa veľa krát Marvel držal severskej mytológie a vždy keď som objavila nejaký príbeh alebo miesto ktoré bolo v nejakom filme, cítila som sa úplne kráľovsky, že som to poznala. Veľmi som si čítanie Severských mýtov užila a neviem sa dočkať, kedy vyjde ešte nejaká ilustrovaná mytológia.

This was probably my least favourite of the three tomes dedicated to world mythology. I didn't like the fact Germano-Scandinavian culture was reduced exclusively to the Vikings. I understand these books are meant for children and some simplification is in order, but this was an unnecessary inaccuracy in my opinion – children should have accurate information, even if it is simplified, that's my hot take of the day. I also wish more space had been dedicated to actual deities, instead of monsters or secondary giants. Otherwise, this remained an enjoyable, and very colourful, reference book, and despite that mildly irritating inaccuracy, I still think it would make a great gift, along with Greek Myths and Egyptian Myths, for budding mythology enthusiasts – though additional cultures in the collection would be welcome!

I’ve always been confused by the tangle of myths, but this book laid everything out very clearly, but also in an interesting way! Stories mixed with biographical pages, all timed out perfectly to give the best reading experience. And the cherry on top was each page filled with beautiful illustrations.

By way of Thor (Marvel Comics) I have become very interested in Norse mythology. This book was a detailed look at the interconnecting stories that have made this such a wonderful mythological word to visit. Several points about some of the minor gods were clarified for me in this book; and there is so much left for future comic writers to adapt!

What a great series of introductory mythology books from DK! My kids and I enjoyed the great illustrations that went with the stories. I thought the book did a good job picking out the highlights of Norse Mythology. I adore these stories in all their forms, and this was a great way to introduce them to my kids.
