Excellent resource for making canoe paddles. Very good illustrations and technical discussions

Excellent guide and reference text. Covers some history and traditions with much advice on plans, designs and options for making your own design choices. Well constructed templates and detailed measurements for several classic styles along with sizing guidelines. Advice on guide and tripping needs and features to promote ease of use and practical applications.

I made two canoe paddles using this book as a guide. I've never done anything like this before. Having some basic skills, tools, and this book, I successfully made two paddles of different designs that work really well--tested on the rivers and ponds near Concord, Massachusetts. The paddles are basic, from planks of wood felled on my property. I look forward to making more in the future, with this book as a key reference.
