The name is Freya. Around the track, everyone calls me Lethal.
All I’ve ever wanted was to work, play derby, and give my brother a good life. When I finally get custody of my little brother and our lives are finally back on track, everything falls to pieces.
Six deliciously sinful men walk right into my life at the worst of times, helping pick up the pieces of the shattered home I made.
Someone’s after me, putting my little brother at risk. Something I’ll never stand for and luckily the new men in my life have my back.
**Trigger Stalking, Threats, Break-in, Attempted kidnapping, and verbal/physical abuse. PTSD and horrific Military combat events described. Drugs, sex, foul language, and talk about loss of a baby.***
This is an enjoyable contemporary RH featuring a young waitress/derby skater and the 6 men she ends up falling for.
**SPOILERS**
The book begins with Freya (our MC) fleeing with her younger brother. Their home life is awful, and abusive. While Freya’s “hiding” with her brother she’s still working as a waitress at a diner. A handsome older police officer comes to meet her with the news of her mom and step-dads death in an automobile accident. The book skips a year: Now Freya is of legal age and has since fought hard and won custody of her little brother (since they had no other family). She’s content but just idling through her life. The same police officer who told her about her parents death has been a fixture in her life for a year, eating at her diner. She’s attracted to him (of course lol) but not one to make the first move. Through a series of very non-believable events (one of the reasons I gave this book 3 stars and not higher) Freya meets the police officer’s (his name is Kellan) 5 other friends. Oh and guess what they are all attractive, and they are best friends who served in the military together at one time - they also all live together in a HUGE house with lots of bedrooms (again really believable *eye roll*). A break-in at Freya’s apartment, and then subsequent destruction etc. have the guys, two of whom are security experts *another eye roll* moving Freya and her brother into their huge house. The rest of the book focuses on Freya getting to know the 6 guys better etc.
The story was enjoyable (I’ll read the sequel) and I liked Freya and her guys, I just thought there were a few “problems” with the book. 1) The beginning felt super rushed. One minute Freya’s escaping, the next she’s totally settled in her “new life,” having learned how to roller derby, get an apartment big enough for 2 people, work at the diner, and play “mom” to her brother. All this takes place in a few pages. It’s just too much too fast without enough “back story” on the events. 2) The police officer, Kellan and his 5 best friends, sure I liked their characters but it was all too convenient. She meets the officer first and then, bam, in a series of unrealistic events meets the other guys. 3) Freya is a virgin at the beginning of this book, and very much not a virgin by the end, lol. Listen, I have no issue with the losing her virginity to 6 hot guys in her harem, what I DID think wasn’t realistic or “paced” well was how she went about her sexual experiences! It’s like one second she’s a virgin who has done nothing…to boom she’s up for trying anything, and I do mean anything. There just isn’t enough storyline involving Freya actually LEARNING about the guys so the reader feels as if the characters are well fleshed out. As much as I enjoy steamy sex scenes, especially in a RH, they’re the best when you really believe all the characters romantic connections. I felt in Rolling with the Punches we get a great set-up, but it’s super rushed, so it feels as if we’re just reading sex scene after sex scene.
However, the book was enjoyable. And I will pick up the next one, especially with the cliffy at the end of book one :)
What a fascinating captivating story. I'm on my second reread of this book and the second time is just as good as the first...or perhaps even better.
The characters just feel like home to me and I have no idea where the attachment to them came from but I'm dying for more from them.
Freya is resilient, caring and strong yet at times innocent and scared. The guys, ooo boy, they are ALL alpha men with their own specialities and reasons, yet also so loving and protective. I'm absolutely in awe of their relationship with Freya and her little brother, I'm invested in their world and I need more...
The storyline is suspenseful and enthralling whilst also setting an excellent pace, the intimacy is hella steamy, the comraderie astounding and the relationships heartwarmingly addictive.
I struggled as I got closer to the end as I wanted to read it but I also didn't want to see those fateful words come up again... Especially with the cliffy they leave it on
I'm intrigued, I'm invested and I'm desperate for book 2.
I have to be honest this book had me dragging my feet. I was see myself in the leading ladys life. There is so much that she does that I live in really life the only thing she has I don't is the six boyfriends. I love the way these guys protect with there lives. They have really opened there hearts to the girl.
I know how she is feeling with her younger brother to I have a brother of my own and he is taller then me and I hate it. Always making someone feel short it awful. Ugh I love this series already it is right up there with Scandalous Slopes series by Natasha Pierce I really can't wait to see what happens next in the series because I can already tell that this is going to be a wild ride. I give the book 5 in 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 and 5 in a good read.
One girl that had to grow up quick to take of her little brother 6 protective men that waltz into he life! If that hasn't captured your attention, this chick is also on a roller derby team and how is that not sexy? Come on 6 men, one roller chick... have you gone to buy it yet? Oh ok, how about some suspenseful stalking? I don't want to tell you anything inside this book! You just have to read it! It was a 5 out 5 for me! Thank you so much Melanie for writing this story so I could read it. 🤓
Listen who doesn’t love men who are down bad for their girl before they even meet her!!! This was an amazing read and needs to be talked about more!! I loved Freya and her SIX men!! Omg they are everything!! I don’t even have a favorite but I love me some Gunner!!! The spice is awesome and we get a couple schminks for everyone!
The plot thickens as that cliffhanger gives us even more questions than answers!! Can’t wait for the next one and hope it comes one sooner than 2024!! LOL
This book was amazing. The story pulled me in from the first chapter. The female main Character shows her strength and vulnerability but so do the mail characters. I can't wait to see how the story evolves. The cliffhanger had me begging for more immediately. Amazingly written!
Well... This book was very different and unexpectedly good? Unsure still, the jury is still out on that. It's a polyamorous story, with SIX lead men... SIX 🤯 That's a first for me.
It wasn't bad, just different. I obviously finished the book in a hurry, because when I went to go back and read the recipe, which annoyed me because the quantities aren't at the start, rather in the instructions, but I thought it carried on, but it didn't, then read the last paragraph again to see it continues in book 2...
Will I ever get to find out why things keep going wrong for Freya?
This is the first book I've read by this author, and I have to say it was so freaking good. Freya and her men have some serious hot chemistry from the beginning. I was either laughing my butt off or seriously getting all hot to the point I couldn't put this book down. The cliffhanger at the end was shocking. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
WTF did I read? Why did I like it? Six guys? Why could I not tell them apart? Maybe..duh...because there were SIX of them.
I really liked this...damn you Kindle day...I am not sure why. And yes, there were a couple of the guys that I couldn't keep straight. Hopefully they get a little more time in the next one, which yes, I will be reading.
I'm completely baffled. Freya and her brother were really put through it in this book. They find their people. Freya finds her men, their protectors. The storyline of this book is absolutely amazing. The ending definitely leaves me shouting WHAT!!!!! HOW!!!!!! Can't wait to read the next book!
Wow, what a cliffhanger. Absolutely in love and obsessed with this story and am so glad it is a series. Cannot wait to see what happens next. Loved our characters and the dogs.
This book was more than expected. Thrilling and captivating!! Love the storyline & characters. I'm not happy with a cliffhanger. Can't wait to read book 2.
This was a cute sweet little insta love, but it wasn't really for me, ut was all a bit too insta and no build up and also a bit too dranatic and suspense in belief.
