Anna Mae Shetler is a tomboy who loves nothing more than exploring the woods with her two best friends, Amos and Jeremiah. During a game of hide and seek they stumble upon a mystery that will threaten to tear apart their friendship, and―as they soon discover―it’s a mystery that caused a rift in their families decades earlier. Anna Mae and her friends are playing in the old tree house in the woods when a floor board suddenly breaks. No one is seriously hurt, but when they take a second look, they see that a metal box of money and a diary are hidden under the floor in the crook of the tree branches. Upon further inspection, they discover that it is a lot of money. As the three set out to solve the mystery, they learn that Jeremiah and Anna Mae’s grandmothers were once great friends, something they would have never guessed since the two women have only been distantly civil to each other in their lifetimes. As they search further, Jeremiah and Anna Mae realize there is a missing third party who must certainly hold the answers to this puzzle. Before they can find out, the money disappears again and threatens the trust of the three friends. Can Anna Mae solve this mystery before it tears apart more relationships? And can God heal decades-old pain and distrust?

While this book did feel over-the-top dramatic at times, I would say this was probably my favorite of the series. I really enjoyed all the faith content and Jeremiah.

This is the third book in the Mysteries of Middlefield Series by Kathleen Fuller. Hide and Secret.
I will admit it took me until the last book to make the connection of characters In previous books, and I though that this series was more for younger adults or even middle school age children, however half way through the third book which by the way is a wonderful book of childhood friendship, forgiveness, and finding your way even when it's hard to go against others to do that.
I indeed made the connection with characters and I believe you will as well if your a Kathleen Fuller fan. This series is a wonderful look at childhood dreams, secret packs, Mystertiers only a child could dream up and then again solve, forgiveness, and then growing into then young people you are meant to become. In this third book you will meet Anna Mae, Jeremiah, and Amos all best childhood friends. They stumble across a treehouse which they realize use to be Anna Mae's Grandma's also it holds several secrets that together they vow to solve and at the same time Anna Mae hopes she can learn more about her grandma in the process.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series .

This was a pretty clasic Amish book. Amish kid wants to leave Amish. They struggle with the dision, thier parents don't want them to go, but in the end... well, you'll have to read the book for that.
I really hatted that the main girl really is not interested in anything remotly related to homaking. I mean, I understand not liking cooking or something but Anna Mae detestes even the thought of cooking, sewing, cleaning, responsibility, or even the possibility of marrige. I wished she had been a little more open to some of it, since they have her being pretty good at the stuff.

The two things I really liked about this book. First, there there is a strong faith, and even the kids have spiritul troubles. Second, the mystery was well set up.

So, the book was fairly good, but not one I enjoyed a lot.

An Amish story about three children becoming teens. A girl and her friends, Jeremiah and Amos, with a secret treehouse that they accidently find out once belonged to their grandmothers. Anna Mae finds a diary belonging to her grandmother and discovers a lost love and a lost friendship with the boys grandmother. Amos struggles in school and figuring out how to do chores correctly. Nothing Jeremiah does to help seems to work, and he doesn't want to be saddle with helping Amos forever. He has decided to leave the Amish faith to become a vet if he can get up the courage to tell his father.

this is my favorite of the three. I read it all in one day, lol. My only criticism has to do with the making of Amish friendship bread. now I've never made it. But the starter is described as having yeast, flour and water, and sugar and a milk and being left out for a week or more... I make sourdough. And your sourdough starter is only flour and water. I love to know somebody who knows more about making Amish friendship bread. But it seems questionable to me to leave something with sugar and milk sitting out on a counter for a week or more, lol. I guess I can Google it. otherwise great book!

Such a sweet book. I know it would've been a favorite if I had read it when I was around 10. I also appreciated the faith intertwined in the mystery.

This book surrounds 3 people, which are a girl and 2 boys that are brothers. The girl and one of the boys are 13 years old. The older boy, Amos, is 14 and has a hard time with learning skills. Jeremiah, his younger brother by one year is smarter on all accounts and wants to become a veterinarian, but to do so means he would have to leave the Amish, go to high school, then college and then onto veterinary school. But that would also mean losing his brother who was dependent upon him in helping him with school work.

All three of these children were playing out in the woods one day when they came across a tree house that was very old, yet well built. The girl comes across a diary that was her grandmother's, but is keeping it secret, while all three found a metal box full of money. Later the money goes missing and all are trying to figure out who would have taken it. In the end, the girl tells all about how that tree house and the money came to be there. Both the girl's grandmother, and the boys grandmother have been carrying a big secret for many decades that has them tongue tied.

The big mystery here? Who took the money? How do they get it back? The children's prying will end up putting them in serious trouble.

This is a must read for the young adult/or adult. One that will keep your head in the book until you finish it.

Absolutely amazing and fabulous.

I love reading Kathleen Fuller books and as a reader are never disappointed.
Always wanting to know what happens next in the book and series.

What happens next is the question I'm having now at the end of the book. The series is main characters being females but my burning questions is for the Mullet brothers and what happens next with them.

WONDER IF I CAN TALK FULLER INTO ADDING ANOTHER BOOK IN THE SERIES ABOUT THE BROTHERS OR DO A FAMILY REUNION BOOK??????

The book is about secrets and mystery thrown in do add to suspense.

ok 3 in "The Mysteries of Middlefield Series"
2 BFFs.
... Then 3 BFFs.
... ... + 1 bully.

A secret place with yet another secret within.

Add a moral.

"...there's nothing worse than living your life with regrets."

Hide and Secret is a charming story. I read this out of sequence in the series. But sometimes we have to read a book when it becomes available. Kathleen Fuller--you have hit a wonderful set of plot ideas, the Amish & a mystery. Together!

Hide and Secret is the 3rd book in The Mysteries of Middlefield. As an adult I enjoyed this book a lot. One of the lessons in this book is, forgiveness is healing no matter how old you are or how many years have gone by.

This book shows a tight bond with three best friends. Anna Mae Shetler, Jeremiah Mullet, and Amos Mullet. Will that bond be broken?

I read this book in one day. It is a fast read but an enjoyable one.

1. 5 Stars. It gives a real insight on the Amish life. It's extremely interesting and you will pick up some German words that they occasionally use throughout the book. WARNINGS: This is a great book with no language, violence, etc.
