In the preface, the author states that plant medicine is humankind's oldest form of healing. "Grow Your Own Medicine" is a good resource for those who would like to learn more about using plants that can be grown at home.
I liked that Mim Beim has set up the book to be used in two different ways. You are able to find whatever you suffer from and look it up in the index. This will guide you to plants that could be used to relieve the condition.
Secondly, the contents list the medicinal plants in alphabetical order, allowing you to learn how each plant could positively affect your health. In this section, the author tells you what part of the plant is used, how to administer it, what climate it likes to grow in, and whether or not you can grow it in a pot.
For those who are new to gardening or growing plants or food, there is a section in the beginning which covers the basics. It is important to note that the book was written with Australians in mind (the map of climate zones shows Australia only). It probably would have been easy to include other climate zones for other countries, although if you don't know your zone, you can find out easy enough on the Internet.
For those who are interested and just starting to look for information, "Grow Your Own Medicine" is a great place to start.
