This was my last book of 2022 and it was a heart-pounder with a bit of insta-lust and a quick fall into love along with plenty of suspense and mystery. The book begins with Delilah (h) at a charity auction specifically to catch the interest of billionaire Archer (H), who public opinion suspects of murdering his fiancee a couple years ago. After her sister disappeared, Delilah has made it a mission to try and bring others who are missing home, whether alive or by giving their loved ones closure. She's an investigative journalist, has support from others who also tackle cold cases, and she's done extensive training. There's a very cat/mouse feel to the characters' first interactions with Archer taking Lila by surprise with an offer to work with him to find what happened to the missing woman, offering Lila unheard of access to his life. Written in third person, multi-POV (including the villain). No om drama, bit of ow drama but H was only focused on h and neither were virgins (it had been at least a year for h and unclear about H but he wasn't a manwhore and I don't believe he'd been with anyone recently).

I also really liked this author's mystery/suspense, Don't Play with Odin, and while this book had less humor than Odin's story, I enjoyed how twisty the potential suspects left the reader. There were multiple possible bad guys, an unknown on whether Archer's ex was alive or dead, and there was tension between Lila and Archer regarding whether Lila suspected Archer as a murderer still or not. All while these two combusted whenever they were near each other AND Lila becomes a target, which is what Archer had suspected would happen except now he's started to care deeply for her. This was a busy book but I enjoyed that fast-pace. The physical relationship happened a bit earlier than I would have preferred, but I leaned into knowing that everything was on fast forward. From an emotional perspective, I wished for less doubting over who believed what of the other, but I liked how each of them shook the other one out of their careful control. Lila was very likable with her dedication to the missing and truth and Archer had a lot seething under his icy exterior, including a massively protective side.

Most of the side characters met throughout the book are also potential suspects. Most are also part of the world of the wealthy, which is where Lila and Archer have to venture to gather info. A couple of Lila's friends who also work cold cases pop up and one, Memphis, was hilariously upfront and quick to jump to action.

I can't spoil the dangers and mysteries, but this book does have danger, violence, and feelings of betrayal. It does end on a HFN/HEA with the mysteries solved and Archer and Lila happily married. There's also a lead-in to book 2, which I read a sample of and sounds intriguing in a completely different way given Memphis is the hero of that book, basically the opposite of Archer.

Wow! As much as I anticipated this book, I wasn’t prepared for it to consume me as it did. I could not put it down.

As a true crime junkie myself, I quickly fell in love with Delilah. She was tough, clever, and fiercely determined to find justice for a missing girl. She also had the type of snark about her that I could totally connect with as it highlighted a lighter side to her. I usually don’t put a lot of weight on the heroine but Delilah won me over within a few pages.

Archer had a heart of ice and it’s evident in the way he approaches life, on the outside. However, on the inside he’s a completely different man.

The problem is that no one will ever know that. It’s not long before Delilah begins to melt his walls and frees his heart. Such a wonderful process that I couldn’t get enough of.

As always, I loved the jealous, protective and possessive traits that ran through this hero. Archer’s need to protect her at any cost was a fiery need in his soul.

”No one touches her but me. Delilah is mine, and she’s staying mine. And if anyone wants to threaten her?” He leaned in close once more, He wanted this message received, understood, and taken to the grave. “They will have to go through me.”

”I will fight for her. Make no mistake about that. I will fight harder for Delilah than I have ever fought for anything in my life.”

I loved the introduction of new characters and all of them, whether fun and engaging or dark and broken, were relatable in every way. This has the perfect mix of humor, romance, and sizzling intensity all wrapped up in layers of suspense that had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I hate being that reader that demands the next book as soon as I turn the last page, but it’s true and Ms. Eden has no one but herself to blame.

I never thought I would enjoy this book this much. Wow…What a suspense! I guessed the wrong person as killer.
Hero Archer Radcliffe…he was swoon worthy. Dark with an edge and dangerous vibe … he was completely smitten with the heroine from the first meet.
Likewise Delilah Darrow was unpredictable, strong and intelligent heroine. I loved her drive and dedication. She kept on surprising me throughout the book. The mystery and suspense was very well done and at times I was spooked especially as I was reading this after midnight.

I enjoyed the bromance between Archer and heroine’s friend Memphis so much. He was such a hilarious character that he constantly cracked me up. I’m so ready for his story next.
The hospital scenes towards the end was my favourite. It was just perfect.
Safe and recommended.

Ugh. Review later. But I think I will not be reading any more of her books in the future
I managed to finish this but it was painful for me. I should have dnf'd.
The repetitive thoughts of both mc's drove me to violent thoughts.
The slow pace and lack of ACTION just pissed me off.
I'm so done with this author's books.

I love this author's writing, but I found this story to be a bit too absurd. Delilah was an agressive investigative reporter who tried too hard to prove that she was more than she was. She irked me and I'm not sure if it was all her or my intense dislike of reporters. Maybe I should avoid stories with reporters as main characters because of my bias.

Archer was supposed to be this cold, commanding and in control man who was accused of murder, but I didn't buy it. He was constantly losing control because of Delilah (spare me) and I found it all to be a bit overdone. Again, it could be because of my personal feelings so please take this review with a grain of salt.

I did really enjoy getting to the reveal of the big bad and finding out the motives and punishment. It did make this read worthwhile.

The MCs in this book work wonderfully together. Delilah is snarky, tough, clever, and fiercely determined to find justice for the missing and give closure to their loved ones. I loved how she made Archer loose his renowned cool. There's a fab degree of chemistry and steam between the two.

It's been a while since I've read a Cynthia Eden book and I'm glad I picked this one up. She is an author that has a specific formula to her books but it's one that curls around me like a comfortable warm blanket that makes me smile. I was engaged throughout the read.

This read is going in my re-read pile and I'm looking forward to book 2 in the series.

Read this review on Got Fiction? Book Blog

This is the first book in an exciting new series about the Ice Breakers, a team of civilians who break cold cases. Any of you true crime and cold case enthusiasts…this one is for you!

Delilah Darrow is part of a group of civilians who solve cold cases. She finds the missing. They might all be civilians, but they all bring special skills to the table. Delilah spent a couple of years learning the P.I. and bounty hunter business. She’s the one who is going to expose Archer Radcliffe. Or exonerate him. She doesn’t really care as long as she can find his missing ex. So she learns everything she can about Archer, she finds the right place, the right time, and she dresses the part. Now all that’s left is to catch his attention.

Archer was attending an auction, and he wanted a certain necklace back. It had belonged to his family once, and he was going to buy it back. The beautiful woman bidding against him had taunted him, she had driven the price up, and she had piqued his interest. She wanted his attention, she got it. But he was a dangerous man with a dangerous reputation. She had better be prepared for what she asked for, because she was gonna get it.

When Delilah got close to Archer, she learned that the controlled ice man wasn’t so controlled. At least, not around her. And she kind of liked him that way. Archer out of control for her, was what she wanted most.

But someone didn’t want him getting close to her. And that someone was doing everything they could to hurt Archer, even if that meant hurting Delilah. What would happen if they got close to finding out who the culprit was? Would they up their game? Or would they show themselves? Delilah didn’t know, but Archer wasn’t going to find out. He wanted Delilah as far from harm as he could get. But she’s not letting him go that easily.

The two of them make a great team, and I like not only this new series, but the nod to Ms. Eden’s Wilde Ways series. Another fantastic Romantic Suspense by Cynthia Eden, Frozen In Ice kicks of what looks to be an exciting new series.

Another freebie i had in my library for a while now.and i’m starting to see why they’re freebies.
Ok,most are the first in a series, and meant to draw you in,but this one, like a lot of the others i’ve been reading lately, failed to do so.
Having said that,in this instance it might be a case of it’s me….because as it turns out this is not my kind of story.
Yes,i love my heroines strong and sassy, but Delilah only irritated me.
She knew what she was doing, but the 180 degree turn in her feelings about Archer, the number one suspect in murdering Vanessa was not convincing….
Not so soon after they met,not when all he did,was tell her he was sick of people suspecting him,and no he didn’t….
And Archer was supposed to be a cold man that kept everyone at a distance, but as soon as he saw her,his thoughts were mostly about how he could get into her pants.
As far as trust went, they were both so very quickly spilling secrets to eachother,i couldn’t help, but shake my head in disbelief.
The killer was easy to spot imho, and even the place where the body was all those years was a no-brainer.
As for the motive…..not even going there!

Will i continue the series? Don’t think so.

Surprisingly, I loved this book. I generally love Cynthia Eden books but lately they can be hit or miss, this one was a hit. Both MC were great, especially Delilah. Memphis (secondary character) had me cracking up and I hope his personality translates to his book. The mystery was pretty much predictable CE but the characters brought it alive. Delilah was smart, witty, snarky, and stood up for herself with no stupid to live moments (yay); Archer was the typical brooding, strong male character at first but his interactions with Delilah were pretty sweet. Overall a great start to this new series.

3.5 stars. It's been years since I've read a Cynthia Eden book. Some of my reader friends enjoyed this one, decided to give it a try. Decent romantic suspense and plenty of action to keep the story moving along. I tried guessing the murderer early on but with so many suspicious characters, I couldn't quite figure it out until the very end. Really liked side character, Memphis. It turns out Memphis is the male lead featured in book 2 of this series. Should be interesting reading.

I haven't been THIS obsessed with a book since... I literally can't remember. I have been thinking about Delilah and Archer ever since I finished reading this book a couple weeks ago (which, by the way, I read this book in a day because I was too excited to do anything else).

I loved Delilah's wit and Archer's charm - their romance was SO much fun to read. Plus, combining mystery and romance (my two favorite genres) into one amazing novel? I was already sold. There weren't any dull moments in the book, it kept my interest throughout.

I want nothing more than to reread this book again but alas, I'll have some restraint. I just started the next book in this series and all I have to say is...wow.

5 stars!!

Oooohhhh…so excited for this first in a new series! Lila and Archer. What a pair they make. From the first time they lay eyes on each other…it’s instant chemistry. Great banter in this story. I loved the seen when she’s walking across the room to him! This is a page turner and keeps you guessing.

Delilah is an investigative reporter who, along with some people on the web, solves cold cases. Delilah’s sister has been missing for five years and she will never stop searching for her.
A woman disappeared two years ago and the boyfriend, Archer, is believed to have killed her. Archer is rich and powerful and is at a benefit when he first sees Delilah. Delilah promises to take him down but the tables get turned on her. Archer shows up at her place and makes a deal with her, help him prove his innocence and he’ll pay her one hundred thousand dollars. Archer and Delilah ( pretend ) to be involved together. Danger is lurking around Delilah and Archer will do anything to keep her safe.

I freaking loved this book. It’s the first in a new series. Sex. Lies. Suspense. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Archer is accused of having ice in his veins but Delilah knows how to thaw him out.

Just when I think it can’t get any better she writes a a story that totally blows you away.

Ice Breakers are a team of investors that solves Cold Cases. Delilah Darrow is part of this team and sent in to learn if Archer Radcliffe is a murderer. She is gutsy, strong and unstoppable.

“Ice breaker,” Archer breathed it like an accusation. “Here to break my world apart.”

Archer has a proportion for Lila. He’s used to getting what he wants. She’s all in.

“Your friends call you Lila, but what do your lovers call you? Because sooner or later, I will be your lover.”

I fell in love with these characters and you will to especially Memphis.

“What part of ‘follow my lead’ did you miss? Or did you just miss all of the parts?”

If you’re not careful, I’ll blink, and we’ll truly be besties.”

Funny, sexy, can’t put it down fun.

Delilah is mine, and she’s staying mine. And if anyone wants to threaten her?”

“They will have to go through me.”

I think I actually picked this book up in June/started reading it then ... but :X effectively DNF'd it cuz I drifted to other books and never got back around to it.
I mean I knew I'd want to read it at SOME point/try again ... but ...

However this week - I dunno - just felt like reading a CE book and also I think I got the 3rd from the library and was like "oh shit better catch up" 😅

ANYWAY. I finished it today and I really liked it!!!
... <.< at some point I'm going to have to read the whole thing beginning to end ... I think in June I read the first 3-4 chapters? And like - tbh not much happens then ...

The baddie. Oof. I kinda felt like there were some (really well done) misdirects in this book ... and truly it's big TRUST NO ONE energy. Other than Delilah and Archer trust each other. They've just got that connection. Big sexy energy too :P

I'm low key sad Wilde didn't get pulled in here...

But oof Archer and Delilah. I liked that both are ... imperfect seems so trite but there it is. Archer definitely has some rose colored glasses there/Delilah talks about being flawed etc but like >.> where.
Archer definitely is arrogant, a bit of an ass - and/but he's had to be! He's got users all around him and has had to defend himself from everyone thinking he's a murderer but also too desperate to try to get his money and influence to REALLY say it to his face etc...
And then Delilah ... I mean ... I guess ... she's too pushy? I mean she talks big "I'm not perfect/I'm flawed energy" but again like ... where? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I definitely like how she sees through Archer and doesn't let him get away with bullshit.

I DO have questions about that intense look Memphis threw their/his way before they got on the plane ...
I have so many questions about Memphis!
And to be honest, Oz. I think he deserve a HEA too! 😜

Honestly at this point I'd say B+/A-?
Definitely going to re-read it

The fact that I have read books by Cynthia eden before, yet I never devoured all her books makes me really sad!

Because SHE'S AN AMAZING AUTHOR!!!

What a book! Keeps you hooked. It's unputdownable.
I really wanted to reach the end directly and see who was the killer yet I couldn't just skip pages!! It was so damn amazing!!

Cynthia knows how to write and what to write not something all authors have tbvvh.

The steam scenes......Top notch
The suspense.....A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
The story overall........ Chef's kiss

You know what's the best part? Ms. Eden doesn't make damsel in distress characters. They are lioness!! They know how to take a stand for themselves. They know they can do it and will go after what they want!
Same with Delilah. She knows what she wants. How she wants and will get what she wants..

She isn't your damsel in distress heroine. She can fight!!!

I’m thinking the prince would have been a whole lot happier if he’d married the wicked stepsister.”

Hell yeah!!!

What you waiting for? Go read it!!

Frozen In Ice is the first in Cynthia Eden's new Ice Breaker Cold Case series. A series set around a group called the Ice Breakers who work together to bring loved ones home. Whether dead or alive.

So investigative journalist Delilah whose own twin sister Layla is amongst those missing sets her sights on billionaire Archer Radcliffe. Whom she believes murdered his fiancée Vanessa two years ago.

But as the pair get close. Delilah learns there is much more to Archer than she initially thought. And with the help of her team and especially tracker Memphis. They find a killer who is closer than any of them could have ever of imagined.

And with great pacing, sexual tension, twists and a killer I didn't expect this was a great introduction to a new series and it's one I would happily recommend to others.

This was a fun read. Great chemistry between the Archer and Delilah, though felt like their relationship was a little premature to be speaking of kids so soon haha. Story was entertaining more so than suspenseful. I am looking forward to the sequel.

I can almost always count on a Cynthia Eden book to show me a good time. This one was no exception. You had a possessive and protective hero and a mystery to solve. To be truthful, I wasn't expecting the killer reveal so that was well done.

Not writing a long review but just know this was another good Cynthia Eden book.

This story was pretty fast paced and entertaining. I didn't quite guess the 'bad guy' until closer to the end. There was insta-lust which worked out okay because the plot was moving pretty quick.

Overall, I thought it was ok and entertaining. I'm not sure that I would continue with the series.

I'm not going to write about the plot (although this is a fabulous one). if you want that kind of review there are tons of others that do that. I'm going to talk about writing style, characters, etc.

Cynthia Eden (CE) wrote characters that are strikingly interesting. She takes a character intense trait (some might say a character flaw but not me) that makes the characters interesting and complex, and makes you see below the surface. Heck she makes the characters see below their own surface and grow from what they think they are, while making them come together in a way that is both interesting conflict but also seems to make them (with hiccups in there) committed to each other. There are the twists, turns and relationship bumps along the way, but that just draws the read more intently into the storyline.

On top of that, this series which branches distantly from the Cross My Heart (wilde ways series), where angst and often murder/missing people/protection is the call of the day. What can be more interesting than that?

The conversations with both Delilah and Archer are witty, fun to read, intense, and real to life. The characters are so interesting that even if this plot was average, they would make the book more than worth reading. And no worries there because the plot is engaging and keeps your nose stuck to the book. Yep, sleepless night here reading this and I'm not sorry at all that I'm grumpy as heck today. Well worth it.

And the sex scenes were hot. But what was great was that they didn't overpower the story. Everything was in good balance.

So in summary, Frozen in Ice is one of my favorite books. Recommend highly. I really can't say that enough.
