This one just didn't work for me. As much as I love spanking stories they have to have some point to them which seemed to be lacking here. I felt bad for Sierra most of the time. She's continually told she can't expect anything more in life than being a servant due to her family's poverty and her plain looks. Then she gets treated in a way that is contradictory to that message - talk about mixed signals! On the other hand, she just never seems to learn and continues to get herself in trouble, thus earning more punishments.

Sierra was a contradictory character in other ways as well. She would be brave and adventurous much of the time, then timid and fearful at other times without much reason that I could see. She did an awful lot of crying which got monotonous as well. Then again, she also got a heck of a lot of spankings, by several different people, in front of everyone else - often just because they felt she needed one. In her shoes I would have been completely paranoid!

Master Alek was too much of an enigma and I couldn't understand what was going on most of the time. There were just too many holes in the plot for me and I found it rather frustrating.

Gah, I wished I read further on the reviews before purchasing THREE books of this series. I used to but became complacent since I love any books with dragons. Unfortunately, by the time I had time to read this book, the grace period for return is over.
The male main character (I dare not call him a hero) is someone who believes (he said it more than once) that beating the woman with paddle, thin sticks, dragon whips and belts REGULARLY will keep the female main character (not calling her a heroine either) in line. I understand his desire to keep those in his household safe and unfortunately the accepted way for him to do that is daily whipping. They even have flatforms and contraption for the purpose. He is a man who can master a dragon and his way of taming dragons is to let them burn him and then let the dragons lick the burn to heal him and only then will the dragons submit, come to him, or do his bidding.
The heroine was expecting to marry a lord, which in this created world is a rich powerful man. I do not blame her for her ambition since she is from a poor family. What kept me transfixed to her - like watching a train wreck - is she resisted the beating and does not like it at all - in the beginning. Unfortunately, after being told over and over again that the beating she receives from THREE different people EVERYDAY is good for her, she ended liking it, expecting it and finding her security/comfort in it.
The whole created world hinged on the the belief that OWNING, and beating women and servants everyday by those in authority is the only way to feel secure and be a part of their world. The way they used a hard wooden penis/phallus to de-virgin young women, without preparing them, is so hard to read. It's a complete lack of regard/value for their innocence and health, much less emotion. And this is saying a lot considering the kinds of book I sometimes read.
Overall, this is not a book for every one. This book looks at women as property, beats them everyday, and the only way acceptable to show affection and care is through whips, belts, or paddle. The more you cry the better, the whipping won't stop until your whole legs and behind is red with welts. In short, this is a masochistic book.

I quite like this series. The author seems to have stopped using this pen name. I wonder if she is still writing under another name.

Spanking, spanking and more spanking.

[This review discusses the whole series.] Dragonmaster was probably the best book in a strong series. There are some weaknesses, and I didn't like one of the books, (Peasant Farmer), but for erotica focused on spanking, it's the most enjoyable I've found. In most books like this, the world-building and often the plot itself are perfunctory. Not so here: the fantasy elements and the plots are very complex and absorbing. The culture and politics of the world are explored with a lot of details, providing openings for new books in the series.

The books depict a culture where women are legally chattel, where girls are raised to submit completely to the males who "own" them, and daily spankings are considered normal and necessary. (Hopefully that description will tell you enough of whether you will like this book or not.)

But unlike some books out there that depict the male using sadistic spankings to utterly crush a woman's will, these books explore a form of heavy discipline that is erotic and loving, even affectionate. And when I say explore I mean that exactly; the books are surprisingly insightful about the complexity of the feelings involved for the females (the book are all first person from the female's POV), how desire and fear and anger can war with each other, how being disciplined can arouse feelings of safety, fulfillment, and belonging. The metaphorical parallel with the dragons/dragon master is used throughout to excellent effect. Though the males demand complete obedience and dole out heavy punishments when they don't get it, the females are not cowed at all: they are funny, engaging, and very much effective agents in their world.

I would mention a few complaints: though most of the books are fairly well-edited, especially by the genre's usual dismal standards, they are poorly formatted--at least for my Kindle--a distracting annoyance. The final book, The Queen, while otherwise very strong, has a number of minor plot holes/ inconsistencies (what is the gender of the queen's baby?). It also makes use of some glaringly modern expressions--"you guys!" "I sucked at that"--which are painfully incongruous with the books' overall style.

But all in all, as spanking fantasies go, you will not find better.

Oh do I love Nattie Jones. She is one of my top spanking story writers who also includes fantasy!

I don't know what's going on with her though because I have not seen anything new written by her in a very long time. I love the way she writes her spankings because they are so real and perfect!

This series was very good. The Dragons were perfect, and they diciplined their women they way I picture being diciplined. The sex scenes are perfect and engaging.

I will buy anything that Nattie writes.

I'm surprised this book has not been reviewed. I'd give it 3 and 1/2 to 4 stars. I'm not up to the full review treatment at the moment but I will say this was a good little fantasy story with a spanking fetish bent. There is good world building around dragons and a not-too-harsh dominance culture. Cute.

Nattie Jones creates a whole new world filled with dragons and there Dragonmasters who know not only how to train dragons but just how to keep their women in line as well. this is not your typical romance but is all around a good read and can't wait for more of this series to come out.

From the first word I was drawn into this world that Nattie Jones has created and I didn't want to leave! Thank goodness there are so many more in the series!
