At just fourteen years old, Jackson Cunningham quickly learned his place in the world when he was shot and left for dead on the side of the road. He didn’t expect to be rescued, and he never imagined his savior would turn out to be his own mate.
For the next four years, he waits patiently, eagerly looking forward to his eighteenth birthday, to the day that his mate will finally claim him. Only, that day never came, and now, at twenty-one, he’s done waiting for Talon to want him.
Talon Cartwright doesn’t exactly have a reputation for possessing a kind and gentle nature. There are very few things in life he cares about, and Jackson is right at the top of that list. Claiming him, however, binding them—body, heart, and soul—isn’t an option.
Cursed by a rare genetic disease, he knows his days are numbered, and he refuses to allow Jackson to suffer the same fate that awaits him.
When dreams of a brother he left behind begin to plague Jackson, it doesn’t take long for him to realize they aren’t dreams. They’re calls for help. Can he save his brother and convince his stubborn mate to claim him? Or is he destined to lose them both forever?
Gabrielle Evans grew up in a small town in southern Oklahoma. We’re talking one red light that may or may not work depending on the day of the week. She married her high school sweetheart and the rest is pretty much history. They have two very active boys and one high-strung wiener dog that keeps her constantly on the go. For now, Gabrielle parks her car in north-central Texas, but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Oh ! this book is really great with romantic relationship between Talon and Jackson.Talon have been waiting for seven years despite the fact that Jackson was his mate all along. He wanted Jackson to date and experience teenage life as much as he can. Whispers in the Night made me falling hard for The Moonlight Breed series and there are elf, vamp and hybrid in this book.Oh ! I've known Gabrielle Evans has skills to writing the story that turn to be a remarkable book and she's getting better and better throughout the last three books I've read.
What about the next book ? Blaise,Cole and Willow.Oh ! I can't wait to put my hands on the next one.
I really liked this third book in the series. The characters from the first two books are back, there is emotional drama, a physical threat and we meet more characters who will hopefully appear in future books. A lot to achieve in such a relatively short read, but I think Gabrielle Evans pulls it off well. The idea of a mated pair where one mate refuses to claim the other (to protect him) is interesting. Especially when you add a large age difference into the mix.
Talon, as nice as he was trying to be, not wanting to reduce Jackson's life span by bonding with him, nevertheless infuriated me. It took him a long time to understand that there was no point in him trying to withdraw to give Jackson space. They were mates no matter what he believed, so pulling away from Jackson only hurt both of them.
Jackson was amazingly patient. Well, mostly, he was desperately in love with Talon. I liked the way he stood up to the older man, didn't give up, and managed to save his brother and old pack in the process.
If you like stories about unusual shifters, emotionally tortured heroes who make each other's lives miserable before they 'get with the program', and want some plot with your hot sex scenes, you might like this book.
It took me a while to finish this book. I liked that I didn't have to read about Talon holding out on being with Jackson for very long (since I didn't have to read through the 7 years when he did) and while both MCs were very sweet and it was standard Gabrielle Evans, it just didn't hold my attention this time around. The sex was a little off-putting too. There was too much of it . Every other character finding his mate got a little boring too. I'm all for setting up future stories, but not everyone's at once.
Whispers In The Night is the third book in the Moonlight Breed Series by Gabrielle Evans. Evans continues to bring more men of the moonlight pack into focus while revisiting previous characters (that I love) in this m/m shifter love story. Elements of love, humor and suspense make for a great story as Talon and Jackson find their way to each other. Since both are part of the moonlight pack, this story is different from the other matings. Still there are some classic Evans steamy sex scenes in this book. Readers following the series will not be disappointed. Whispers In The Night is another solid book. I adore this fabulously funny and loving family and can’t wait to read more. Since every book is building up the suspense over something looming ahead, readers will be hooked to the very end.
I have done a complete 180 on this series...started out not really liking it after reading the first book, but the second book started winning me over, and then this third one made me love the series. I really enjoy the characters now, and I'm glad there wasn't quite as much insta-love type of plot with this 3rd book...more conflict, that's for sure. I loved the conflict between the two main characters, and also bringing Jackson's family in the story later.
And I definitely loved the setup for future books! I think the author did a great job setting the stage for the next (I'm assuming couple?) of books without it distracting the reader or detracting from the main couple's story. I'm definitely looking forward to book 4!
Nope. Didn't work for me. Too much sex! Talon was dumb, always calling Jackson "the kid". Him making Jackson go out on dates to explore life. GIVE ME A BREAK! Shifters are supposed to be possessive and jealous and he's sitting there saying to go out with other guys? I don't buy it.
Then Jackson gets fed up and takes off. But, here's the kicker, after knowing Talon is his mate for 7 years Talon barely whispers "I'm sorry"--actually I am not even sure if those were the words he used. Then it became all about sex. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! 7 YEARS Jackson! SEVEN! Make the fucker suffer and grovel a bit before giving in.
Then the diner scene was AWFUL!
Sadly I don't think I will be continuing on with this series :( I don't like the switch from M/M to M/M/M either. Oh well.
It was ok for me. The first half of the book was so slow going I actually put it down and took a nap. It picked up around 71% of the book and was good from there. This was not the best in this series in my opinion though.
This was a very creative and enthralling read. I adored both of the main characters, however, they did start off a bit rocky with their relationship. There was a wide cast of interesting characters and their personalities were well depicted. Willow was such a sweetheart and a very big help to the pack (especially Talon). The diner scene was definitely quite unique (never read anything like it) :) and overall, it was a very imaginative and impressive story. =)
typical gabrielle evans serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical gabrielle evans? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).
out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by : sunny day lynn hagen stormy glenn scarlett hyacinth carol lynne gabrielle evans
unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.
I was already half in love with Jackson's character and this book just cemented things for me. Talon, I just wanted to kick in the head a couple of times and tell him to get over himself, but in the end you really understand his reasoning for doing the things he did. Once again Braxton and Keeton are up to their usual antics but it always ended well. They had good reasons for doing what they did and it actually helped Talon open his eyes to things he needed to see. I am really looking forward to what happens with Boston, but we have to get through Blaise and his story first.
This book is full of awwws. I love Jackson and Talon. I love that Jackson is this sweet, soft-hearted guy and Talon is a jerk unless he's with Jackson. They are total opposites which makes their mating that much sweeter. And the growth of the Moonlight Breed world is growing and so exciting. I love the addition of vampires and corrupt packs/covens. The story is interesting and perfectly paced. Again, this author takes a common genre and creates something unique and fun. I really love it.
Because that's what I did. I read this story first. You only get a vague picture of the characters and although each story has its separate main characters, they aren't stand-alone AT ALL. It took me half the book to realize that not all the characters were wolf-shifters. And another like 15 pages before I was told that Talon was a leopard. I still don't know what Keaton, Braxton, and Xander are, if keaton and braxton are even anything in the first place.
It's a good story, just confusing if you don't read it all in order
I continue to be amazed that the story lines remain as interesting, fast paced, sexy and smart as the very first book in the series. To say the least I'm enjoying these books and the world that the author has created. Talon and Jackson were just as hot as the other couples with a little extra zing thrown in. I mean, to have known you were mates for the past seven years and not acted on it? Unreal tension. The story continues to fascinate and I'm looking forward to the next book.
4.5 Gold Crowns. Surprises abound in Whispers in the Night, and Ms. Evans does a wonderful job pulling all the pieces together. Whispers in the Night opens more doors and leaves you wondering what’s going to happen to next. To view this review in its entirety, please visit http://thereadersroundtable.com/eroti...
