When The Boy Who Spoke Dog was published, Publishers Weekly wrote: “The pacing is swift, and the surprising and touching finale begs for a sequel.” In this continuation of the first book, Clay Morgan has reunited Jack and his beloved dog, Moxie, on the island where they first met. Jack is not the only human on the island: The mysterious and dangerous Blackburn Jukes is there, too, searching for the valuable amber hidden in the bogs of the island. Moxie and Jack soon realize that they must work together in order to protect themselves and their island from this intruder in this action-filled novel.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Clay Morgan has worked as a teacher, a commentator for National Public Radio, and as a U.S. Forest Service smokejumper. Morgan lives with his wife, Barbara, an astronaut and teacher, and their two sons in McCall, Idaho. He is currently a creative writing professor at Boise State University.
From Philippines. I haven't read the first book, but I still read this. It's a great book, though the boy didn't really talk to dogs, I think he just imagined it. But overall, it was a great and simple stories. I especially like when the fangos finally became good :) and when Jack finally reunited with Moxie :) I wanna read the first book!!!

I really liked the first book, The Boy Who Spoke Dog. This one was repetitive and a little boring, also there is very little characterization and even less explanation. What is with the amber and its "magical" properties, the lightening, the dogs other than Moxie, why is Blur so different? Not a very fulfilling read. Is this just a placeholder for a third book?
I really wanted to give this 5 stars because the first one was so wonderfully written but just couldn't quite get there. The characters from the first book still captivated but the new characters weren't of the same caliber. Still an excellent read, although this one is more for grades 6 and up. Not recommend as a read aloud book, storyline doesn't flow as well as the first.
i liked the first one better. i read this book a long time ago and i remember i was confused by jack's shipmates cause they were all different characters except for one. other than that it was pretty good read.
This sequel is highly more adventurous and engaging than it's predecessor, The Boy Who Spoke Dog. A great story about the hidden link between humans and animals.
I went to the library and got this and "The Boy Who Spoke Dog" at the same time so I could jump right into this one as soon as I had finished the other. I liked them both.
This was a wonderful novel just like the first one. (the Boy who Spoke Dog). I am happy that Jack was able to be reunited with Moxie and the other Sheepdogs on Dog Island.
