Babies love to see their faces in a mirror, and here's a book showing them all kinds of faces―from happy faces to mad faces and all the ones in between. With a foil mirror at the end to let readers see their own funny face, this delightful book about a little boy's encounter with three playful bears perfectly illustrates the connection between feelings and expressions.
Plot summary: Funny face is a wonderful concept picture book about emotions. This book has large print and small sentences, so it is very “beginner reader” friendly. The short story is about a little boy who plays with a ball. He experiences a range of emotions during the story. The best part about this book is that it has a mirror in the back of it. Children will have fun trying to imitate the different emotions! Activities: #1 This would be a fantastic book to use for a lesson on emotions. Students could draw themselves experiencing a range of emotions. #2 This book also talks about playing with friends. This would lead to a great discussion about friendship.
This is a cute story, that demonstrates the many different emotions a little one can have, with a mirror on the last page so your own little ones can practice their "faces." Even though our girls are getting too old for these kinds of stories, they had fun with this one and even argued over who was looking in the mirror longest.
My 3yo and 17mo old boys love this book. I totally get into the voice inflections and faces with this one to draw them into the simple narrative, and at the end there is a good quality mirror so we can all take turns making our own faces. They request this over and over and the simple story is a good one for empathy building.
This is a lovely book that teaches toddlers/children with pictures and a morrow, about feelings. The mirror is a fantastic addition to the book for children to use and have fun with. My son really enjoyed. Highly recommended
