Because it's a school set work, my kids had no great love for this story but I was captivated from beginning to end, even more so with the suggestion that it could in fact be based on a true story. The chapter dealing with the earthquake of 1969 is particularly harrowing. Amazing read - I'm sorry it took me so long to get to it!
