This book is about Sylvia White and the death of her stepson and husband in Kinston, NC.
My mom ordered this book. I decided to read it before she got back from vacation. It peaked my interest since the crime happened in a town that I grew up in. At first, I was confused by the way it was written because it seemed to jump back and forth between years but that was my bad cause I wasn't paying attention to the dates on the chapter pages. It is a very fast read which I liked. It was also really interesting to read about places and know exactly where it is and what it looks like. This book is a bit of a rollercoaster, especially when talking about Sylvia and her actions throughout her life. The word that popped in my head the most was, wow. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of small town true crime or lives/knows the Kinston area. Finding a new copy will be hard, but there is nothing wrong with a used version.
A well-written account of cold -blooded murder by incompetent conspirators. Little Billy’s tragic death was a evil act by an evil woman, Sylvia White, whose guilt is well accounted for. As of this reading in July 2020, she still alive in her late eighties and still proclaiming her innocence in spite of convincing evidence. Let her keep it up because unless she admits guilt she will never get parole which she really doesn’t ever deserve.
Heart-breaking true story told in a gripping fashion.
This is the first book by Suzanne Barr that I have read. At first I had difficulty keeping up with the various characters but the author did a good job knitting them altogether. The thing that puzzles me (and the reason I only rated it at 4 stars) is what relation the title has to the book. It was a fast read that didn't leave a stone unturned.
