What a blast from the past. Kendra escapes Burgess Hill, a home for battered women. What is the secret behind that institution? Gerry, a supermarket owner, helps her to uncover an incredible scandal. Will they survive a diabolic reverend and treacherous friends. What about the role of Charlie Ledbetter, a cameraman and his alcoholic wife Colleen? Ray Garton proves his outstanding craftsmanship and comes up with an extremely intriguing top level mystery thriller. The characters are very well drawn and there isn't any dull moment throughout the whole novel. It reads like a compelling movie start to finish. Very glad I came across this gem from 1990. Highly recommended!

Started a little cliche hard boiled detective sounding. Once I got past trite sounding open the book got moving. Kept me turning pages

Not Horror, but Felt Like It

In the foreword by Ray Garton, he says this is his, he-he, STAB at non horror. I felt it was horror, but it was 1990, before Jack Ketchum taught us horror doesn't have to be about creatures. It can be about human monsters, and this book's a good example of that. I'd recommend it to horror and non horror fans alike.

Ray Garton will tell you that he's a horror writer...

Don't let him fool you... He writes AMAZING fiction... Doesn't matter if it's horror, suspense, or any other genre... Trade Secrets is a prime example... Nothing supernatural, nothing scary... Just good old solid fiction writing that grabs your interest from the beginning and leaves you satisfied at the end of a well-told story

Ray Garton is a great writer, I find his books easy to read. Like sticking on a favourite old action flick. This book is not horror but a fast paced, action packed thriller and a great story that kept me turning pages until the end. No nonsense,bosh.... job done. Highly recommend this book, Ray seldom disappoints and a very worthy 4 and a half stars from me.

Ray Garton is known as a author of above average horror stories. Sometimes he changes genres and this is one of them. It is one of those hard to put down books. The story is fast moving. It is somewhat farfetched, but you really don't care. It is well worth the trip.
