As a young girl she read aloud to herself and others for fun and enjoyed volunteering to stand up to and read out loud in front of class as much as she could. During her sophomore year in high school at David Starr Jordan High in north Long Beach, Mimi learned that she was pregnant and was soon transferred to a continuation school to finish her high school term out at Will Reid continuation, in a special program for pregnant minors.
Getting her life on track as a mother and not able to hang out with friends like she had in the past, Mimi reclaimed her passion for reading. She read countless books of various genres in her spare time. A few of her favorite authors are; Sister Souljah, Terry McMillan, Teri Woods, Nikki Turner, Shannon Holmes, Mary B. Morrison and Mary Monroe. Going back to her grass roots of scribed art suddenly Mimi had become inspired to put her passion for writing into action. After writing her first line on the page of her notebook, she was hooked.

were do I begin. this book to me was not the best I have ever read from this Author! first to me, it dragged on to much and could have been to the point along time ago. Also to me bright was a real SLUT!!!!! She didn't deserve her best friend at all and definitely didn't deserve what she got(betrayal) .but what goes around comes around.

From the first page this book had me hooked! Bright(the main character)is a teenage girl that is hot in the tail in search for the next baller to empty his pockets to her. I don't want to give too much away but I will say I couldn't put this book down until I was done with it. As a mother with two girls I will be keeping a closer eye on mines when they reach this age do to Bright's behavior. Bright's mother is a single parent trying to make ends meet so I understand her absence but boy does Bright take advantage of it! Thank you author Mimi Renee. This was a great read.

Bright not so bright
This was a good read held my interest from the beginning till the end lots of drama. This was my first read for this author and it won't be my last. Well getting ready to read part 2 so stay tuned.

Another great read

From the moment I opened this book and read the first line of "What it do, bitches? The female that they love to hate is in the muthafuckin' house! I knew I was gonna finish this book in one night. There's nothing I like better than a story that grabs my attention from the first line, immediately I wanted to find out more about this person and why she was hated on.
Pretty Bright born Bright Sheldon is from the LBC, Long Beach California if you didn't know. She is sixteen the oldest of five kids, she may be sixteen in age but probably a good thirty in mind. She's addicted to sex, money and more money. Her only belief is that the goldmine between her legs will keep her pockets fat and her body in the latest fashion. Ms. Bright, honey was definitely about that old cliche using what you got to get what you want. But does she have to be so scandalous? I mean this little girl was grimey, sleeping with her best friend man and throwing herself at another one.A part of me wanted to have a little remorse for Little Ms. Thing, the part that no matter what she was into or who she was scheming on next, she was always there for her brothers and sister as well as her mother. To me that was the brightest thing about her.. I could also relate to some of the things she did. Hey! Back in my younger days I have did something strange for some change. I have dated men that I didn't like because they were beneficial in paying a light bill or two. But never have I took it to the extreme and played the dangerous games Bright Sheldon has. As I got to know Bright more and more through this story and the extinct that she would take it too, to achieve Gold Diggers hall of fame.Do I think that she deserved the cruel punishment she suffered in the end? I don't know but maybe you can decide and the only way to do that is to buy the book. This author is worth supporting, she grabs your attention from the start with a strong story line. She keeps the plot thick and the characters were wonderfully thought out.
So like I ask at the end of all of my reviews. Would I recommend this book to someone else? HELL YES in a New York minute. How would I rate this book on a scale of 1-10? 20 Baby! Would I buy other books from this author? For sure....

Frenemies
This is my second read by Mimi Renee and she has not disappointed me with “Pretty Bright”. I am impressed with all the issues she deals with that make this novel a recommended read. This author has found a way to deal with real life issues and still have an entertaining novel. At some point you will be able to identify with the characters on some level. Just a little glimpse into some of the issues: insecurity, bullying, back stabbing, naivety, homosexuality and it all works.
Bright Sheldon is the epitome of beauty it’s just too bad her beauty is only skin deep because on the inside its nothing but ugly. Pretty Bright as she is referred to, is the typical stereo type: beautiful light skin, pretty eyes, and curves in all the right places. So why is she so miserable? Yes, she plays it off well and gives off the aura of ‘I’m better than everyone else’ but the truth is she has demons hunting her. Bright does whatever she has to get money in her book if it don’t make dollars then it don’t make sense. She lives by the almighty dollar and will do anything to get it including crossing her best friend Treasure and anyone who stands in her way of money.
Treasure is in a much better place than Bright and knows the meaning of true friendship. Too bad she puts her trust and friendship in the wrong person she going to learn the hard way keep your enemies close and your friends closer. I really like Treasure. She gave a homey feel to this novel with her being so naïve. Check out this page turner and see the shenanigans that Bight and Treasure get into.
If you are looking for a fairy tale story this is not the novel for you. The ending is what you would expect but at same time it’s still shocking. I am glad she didn’t take the easy route on this. There is so much to take from this book and so many life lessons. Kudos to Ms. Renee she has done it again, she has a hit on her hands and I await her next work of art.

Being the offspring of a rock star father and a mother that had her raising her siblings, Bright is out for hers.
And she could care less on the aftermath her reign brings forth.
The target does not matter, as she uses her feminine ways to acquire the desires of her heart. It's not until she meets Larry Lane, potential basketball star that she learns what real love is all about.
Mimi Renee has been paying attention to the writing industry. Her literary voice is one that will not be ignored as her second novel, Pretty Bright pulls the reader into the LBC for a non-stop ride. Not only is the ride filled with twists, turns, mystery and intrigue, the characters are deftly crafted for a personal appeal. The only major flaw that hinders the novel is the editing. There are places that have punctuation that are not necessary, but it's not enough to stop reading it. Another round of proofreading would've put this work on its ear, making others improve their game in the writing craft.
If you're interested in what the West Coast appeal is all about, Mimi Renee is one author you need to have on your list.

Ok so this book was pretty good. At times it seemed to drag on a bit but overall it was a good read. I must say that I am a bit let down with the ending. I understand that often times writers like to leave readers really anticipating the upcoming sequel but authors also need to be careful how they accomplish that. The ending to me seemed very rushed and not thought out. It was as if someone tore the last chapter pages out of the book. It was not a smooth ending at all, even if the sequel is coming. I love anticipating the sequel to a good read but the transition from book one to the sequel needs to be carefully and smoothly written, this one was not, it was an ending that was much to scattered for me.

"Pretty Bright" was a very good book. I wasn't feeling Bright's character. I thought she was very selfish, disloyal, sneaky and very conniving. I believe her grandmother destroyed her as a young lady and her thought process of 'self wealth". Bright had no clue how to be a true friend to those who were true to her. She was lost in her own little world, which caused her a lot of pain and grief in the end. Larry was a good guy for Bright but her greed, betrayal and deceit caused her to lose the only guy who truly cared for her. I am very curious to see how she recovers from the beat down that her best friend Treasure displayed on her. I will be reading part 2. Kudos to Mimi Renee!!

Pretty Bright is the story of Bright Sheldon. A bright girl with a bad attitude! Bright is willing to do any and everything for the love of money, even if that means jeopardizing her friends and loved ones. With a friend like Bright, do you really even need enemies?
I gave " Pretty Bright" 5 stars because of the story line's flow, the characters depth and the action packed drama!I read this book in one and half days. Mimi Renee is definitely doing her thing. Read this book and you'll surely find out why everyone hates Bright Sheldon!I know I do!

I was not impressed with this book. I felt it sent a bad message to young ladies that it is ok to have sex at young ages regardless of the consequence with partners staying at risk for veneral diseases. There is more to life than clothes, cars, and what else a young man can bring to the table. Encouraging young ladies to skip school and smoking weed and giving head is not an impressionable story line. Finding a way to have parents address their issues with teenagers up front so they do not repeat or perpertuate the cycle should be addressed.

this book was great! at times I hated bright but as the story went on I actually felt sadness for her. this is my first Mimi Renee novel I read and I loved it, its full of nonstop drama and keeps you turning the page. this story gives you at look at how abuse can change a person and how it follows until a person seeks help. this is great I loved it I'm happy I read it and I will be looking forward to getting part 2 as well as picking up other Mimi Renee novels.

This woman has 5 kids and 2 jobs,her daughter is a good digger and got pregnant by a future nab player but he finds out that she is cheating on him and leaves her and her twin babies,when her best friend finds out that she was sleeping with 2 of her men she beats her up, but did she go too far? her son is 10 yrs old and confused about his sexuality and the kids are picking on him ,and he had enough so he hangs himself

Wow!!! The book, Pretty Bright by Mimi Renee, is awesome!!! The author did an awesome job!! The main character, Bright, is a friend you would need to keep very near! The story is addicting, well paced, developed and will leave you on a cliff-hanger. I am looking forwarded to reading Mimi Renee follow-up book Pretty Bright 2. Kudos author Mimi Renee!!!

OMG!!!! This book was one of the best stories I've read in a long time. Bright Sheldon is trouble, triffling, and needs her a** kicked. MiMi Renee knocked it out of the park with this one and I can't wait for part 2.

Over all it was a good book! It just didn't take me by surprise. I do recommend you read it for yourself to get your own view of this book. I would like to read the next book just don't want to pay $7.99 for a book that is not going to surprise me. Yes I got the first one free!

A pageturner for sure!
Bright's life did not live up to her name! This book makes you laugh and cry! Just when you think it's going to be "happily ever after" things change. Then when you thinks it all over things change again. Of course now I have to by part two!

Pretty Bright I was like damn the Bitch was scandelous didn't have any remorse on anybody or herself crazy motherfucker. But I love the book onto part 2.
