Time-travel, dreams-come-true, and touch of romance walk the streets of England in Kelvin O’Ralph’s young-adult novel, Fast Forward into the Future. Protagonist Lucas, genius writer and comp sci student, is trying to get his first novel published. No one quite believes he’ll succeed, not even he, until that curious incident when he travels in time. But even seeing the future can’t make it come true, and it takes the kindness of family and strangers to see Lucas through self-doubt to the promise of hope.
There’s definitely a youthful glee to this novel, with carefully complete descriptions of scene and furniture, sudden insights switching points of view, and an innocent hopefulness to the various conundrums of publishing, time-travel and romance. The story reads quickly, though choice of scenes and detail seems odd at times, adding to the youthful feel. The time-travel’s as unobtrusive as the emotions. And the dream of being published is one many authors might relate to, with hope or frustration depending on their point of view.
Disclosure: I received a free ecopy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I think the book is a nice book. i could relate to it. What i really liked best was the fact that Lucas saw the future and was married to Carla., but in reality he decided to marry Trisha because that was whom he loved, that had been there for him. It made me feel that even though he saw what the future held for him, he could still change it. I loved that. But then again it made me wonder why ne never decided to see how things would go with Naomi,I really loved the sarcasm in this novella. In all, a job well done.
Fast Forward is quite an interesting read, I enjoyed the MC, Lucas Taylor, and the way I could read his thoughts concisely. I also love the way the authir portrayed the bond between Sophie and Lucas. I loved the ending the most because of Lucas' decision to change the future in which he'd glimpsed, which supports my theory in life which is Man creates his own destiny. I would have loved to see the relationship with Lucas and Trisha in more chapters. All in all, big-ups to Kelvin O Ralph for his work on Fast Forward.
the book is rily nice that i could read it over and over again. the message is so clear and the story line was perfect. loved the fact that he didnt end up wit his first love cos then it would have been shit. welldone kelvin, nice work..:)
Fast Forward into the future is about a guy named Lucas who dreams of getting his first book published and finding the perfect girl to marry. His family and friends are skeptical about Lucas's book getting published. Lucas himself doesn't quite believe that he will accomplish his dream either. What he sees when he travels into the future sometimes is not exactly how it will turn out.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this. I knew there was some time travel and romance but it's not the usual genre that I read. The beginning started off slow but then picked up and by the ending I was hooked. I liked the characters and the book overall. I would have liked to seen more about the characters backgrounds and just more development overall. The storyline and plot are good and well written. To me it just seemed like Lucas would like a girl and then switch so fast that we didn't get to know anything about her. The last half of the book has some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I liked that we got to see his life 10 years later and how everything really turned out.
You get good characters, romance, time travel and some humor. I am giving this a 3 stars with parts of it 3.5 stars. Overall it's a quick, enjoyable read. This e-book was given to me as a review copy. This did not affect my review in any way.
Ok. I do have to say there are some really good thing and some things that need to be worked on with this novel. Good things were the characters and the basic storyline. I abs loved Lucas! Smart, apparently pretty handsome and publishing a book! What else couldn't we have asked for! Then there's the chance to be able to travel and see your future and the things that could and would happen. Who wouldn't want that! The things I wish there was more of would have to be character development. I do love the characters but I just wish there was more to them. There's also the point of the storyline. I love the premise but I just wish that there was more to it. I want to know about the grandfather, the relationship with the girls. Anyway, this novel is pretty good! There are certainly things that it could be worked on but it's defineatly a good one. Especially the last sentence! Loved that! Anyway, I'm giving this one 3 out of 5 paws!
I knew from the very first chapter that I probably wouldn't be finishing this book. Once I got to about 1/3 of the book I then started skim reading and I just knew that I couldn't finish. It may be a good book if a really good editor adds more to the characters and make the story more compelling.
