Speech is a very important aspect in one's life. Understanding the basic functional and neuromuscular anatomy is important. Applying that knowledge in fabricating a prosthesis in patients increases the acceptance and building confidence in patients who have some congenital defects such as cleft lip and palate, or where a part of maxilla was removed due to some condition which has hampered patient's skill of speech. Nowadays we can rehabilitate a patient and improve his/her verbal skills with variety of appliances used in the field of Prosthodontics.
