Not only is this book filled with techniques for making beautiful 3d embroidered dragonflies. But it is also filled with details about their anatomy and a history of their use in fiber arts as a motif. More than a bargained for..., and more rich ideas to work with and a corresponding decrease in the amount of time to do them.

I'll rate and review it properly when I've had a chance to make something up, but at least I can for sure say that she got all of her natural history right. Not only will you learn about the history and practice of embroidering dragonflies, but you'll learn about dragonflies, too!

Jane Nicholas books are a pleasure to read. The photography is both beautiful and instructive. A beautiful supplement to her more comprehensive stumpwork books.
